happiness in my tummy. sun in my belly is one of those places that i can't help but keep coming back to. i read a lot of reviews where people praise and praise and claim they live in their beloved restaurants, but, truly, sun in my belly is a place that i keep coming back to.
weekends are usually very busy here and the brunch crowd tends to whelm the place between 1030 and 1230 causing waits of upwards of 40 minutes. hang in there, it's worth it. daily meals are less crowded and i've found that between 1 and 3 is the best time to go to avoid the crowds. brunch ends at 3 and sandwiches/soups/salads are served bet. 3 and 6. after brunching it up in a variety of places in atlanta, i definitely have not settled on a place that i like more, even though i love the foods at other places. i think the combination of food, atmosphere andservicehere is what really sets them apart.
being a pilgrim of sandwiches i'd have to say that i've been quite delighted with how they make em. sandwiches generally (don't hold me to this) fit either of two models: 1. those that overwhelm the bread and your mouth (for good or bad reasons) or 2. those that focus on the ingredients. the sandwiches i've usually had here have had just a handful of ingredients (discounting the condiments, spreads or what have you, the ingredients are 3 to 5). this way, you're able to taste individual items and how they interact with each other. i like how they have differing breads and fresh, fresh vegetables. the flavors are clean, fresh and fulfilling.
one of the aspects i like best about sun in my belly is how they source the vast majority of their ingredients of all meals from local or organic (or both) sources. i often find that either of those facets causes food to really shine in my mouth.
