i came here with my partner on a romantic night for two. we both chose from the al a carte menu and had 3 courses.

the food was all delicious! well presented, perfectly arranged and extremely well balanced flavours.

my favourite had to be the chocolate bavorois for desert. the layers of sweetness, savoury and aromatic spices was amazing.

my only feedback was the service. it started off perfectly but as the entree was done, the service stopped. we had no water and i wasn’t offered awinewith my main, which i was looking forward to, i couldn’t really even get anyone’s attention.

overall the experience was great as i’m a big foodie and loved all 3 courses.

wanted to visit the providore and of course one finds it hard to resist the temptation of the cozy fine restaurant. i visited out of meal hours but nonetheless enjoyed the fresh oysters and cured kingfish on the bar menu with a glass of deliciously dry freycinet riesling. as i was a real lightweight, i would have loved it if there's awinetasting option, and a fireplace (or gas fire) by the couch would have scored 5/5.

i've been to launceston twice, and i've been to stillwater twice. the first time i wanted somewhere nice to eat, the second time i knew i wouldn't be disappointed and would get a great meal.
the ambience, the location and the food are all sublime. i couldn't recommend going here highly enough.
attached to the restaurant is awinecellar, provadore, and an art gallery. definitely take the time to see every level.

my family and i ate here on a saturday night. the restaurant was very busy so i would defiantly recommend booking in advance.
a fantasticwinelist, quite reasonably priced too. the food was to die for, some of the best sushimi i have ever had, we ordered around 8 dishes in total to share, all of which were incredible.
the only reason i do not rate this restaurant 5/5 was because the service was slightly lacking (apparently we did come on the busiest night they have had in a very long time).
also very reasonably priced for how great the food was.

we celebrated a recent business deal with a dinner for 4 friends at stillwater.  the general opinion of all in the group was that the whole experience was very disappointing.  we went there based on recommendations from others who had eaten there a few years back.  the service was very poor from the beginning, with our main waiter being near impossible to understand as he explained the menu.  we quickly tired of having to ask for the description to be repeated.  the food was at best very average and uninspiring.  overcomplicated dishes that appeared to be "trying" to be upmarket, but failing to deliver.  when we complained about the poor service upon paying our bill, we were told by the owner that "we should have mentioned something earlier as there was now nothing he could do about it" i can now see where the arrogant waiter got his training.  all this at probably the most expensive prices in launceston.  thewinein particular was ridiculously priced.  make sure you have plenty of room on the credit card if you plan on having more than a glass to drink.

the food andwineat stillwater was really delicious. the service was good however for a high service establishment simple mistakes were made.

great location, delicious and different food. the 5 course surprise really was! trout, tartare, sea snails, duck and purée with a dessert i'd gladly do again. set this against the backdrop of the river and you really can't go wrong. i'm always surprised at how muchwinematches contain in alcohol so this time i shared between two, a much better option otherwise just too much alcohol.

had high expectations of this restaurant, and for the most part, it lived up to them. food was well prepared and beautifully presented. service was average, expected a little more to be honest considering the prices we were paying. that's my first gripe. my second? being a large group, our only option was the undergroundwinecellar. whilst we were able to admire the restaurants selection of wines, we could not admire the views. and because of a central table beam, we couldn't always see everyone sitting around the table.

we had the most amazing dinner here.  the chef was incredibly accommodating of my dietary requirements and he created the best dessert i've ever had.  thewinelist was quite good but the service on our visit was exceptional.  just wish we lived in the same state so we could visit more often.  wonderful.

amazing experience. just back from the stillwater and still can't get over how exceptional the whole experience there was. not only was the produce perfectly fresh and local, but also beautifully prepared and presented...& in a lovely old historic building. but above all this, what amazed us was the enthusiasm, food &wineknowledge and general warmth of the staff there. really something out of the box! congrats to all at stillwater.

lovely ambience and setting. i was happy with the customer service. the cheeses were absolutely amazing and thewineeven better. i recommend this restaurant

superb meal, gorgeous atmosphere, attentive staff ... the beetroot entree was astonishingly good, the mains terrific and the desserts (choc/hazelnut and pannacotta) were simply divine. my only gripe was $30 mark-up on bottle of tassiewine... which i'm told is standard but i think rather rich! was proud and delighted to take sydney visitor to this local gem!

delicious food but you have to wait for it!! the waiters are super friendly and helpful but unfortunately the kitchen could not keep up and our meals were luke warm.wineselection was fab, so good to sample local wine.
