myself and my wife came here for lunch on the first day of our honeymoon after a long bumpy flight and what a find! the service was impeccable, a young gentleman was more than happy to give us perfect advise on what winery's were a must do and his input made our stay in launceston. the food was good we had a deconstructed caesar salad as well as the tempura fish of the day both of which were cooked very well and the tasmanian sparkling topped off everything. all in all agreatexperience and a must do when in launceston. thank you and we will be back!

expensive but a beautiful experience. we dropped in to stillwater not long after landing in launceston for a 5 day break and what agreatway to start a break. the food & service are top notch with ambience and price to match a classy casual upmarket restaurant. i would recommend it to anyone who is comfortable with the price.

fantastic! service from a pretty young crew very good. entrees tartare and a calamari dish. bothgreatat $16 &$17 each. good value. main duck and pork side of broccoli. don’t thing the cherry complimented the duck, felt a bit old fashioned to me. dessert was the standout dish. chocolate bavarois was amazing, salty, sweet and just perfect in every way.

i think this is a really good restaurant definitely worth visiting if you’re in launceston. the service wasgreatand at the level of a fine dining restaurant but the ambience was comfortable. for starters, the hot smoked salmon churros, beef tartare and whipped cod roe were really good. for mains, the octopus pasta and the market fish (grilled) were also bothgreatfresh flavourful dishes. definitely happy to come back again!

recommend to go here by the guy at our hotel and well worth it. prompt, efficient but friendly service. very professional to say the very least.

our breakfast was simply presented and not overly big in size but big in flavour. the eggs tasted like the ones my grandparents use to have from their chickens, so tasty and fresh while the cold smoked salmon was just beautiful.

downfalls, the crust on their in house sourdough needed a hacksaw it was so hard, but still beautiful while the biggest turnoff for me was the 10% surcharge on sunday’s!!!! public holidays i sort of agree with but not sunday’s.

breakfast was $63.95 for 2 egg benedict’s plus a small coffee and kombucha!!

would go again for the dinner menu, a bit pricey but if it is anything like the breakfast i am sure the quality would be fantastic.

special mention to the avocado moon kombucha-greatflavours abs the best authentic one i have tried. stillwater do recycle their bottles so that was a plus.

i came here with my partner on a romantic night for two. we both chose from the al a carte menu and had 3 courses.

the food was all delicious! well presented, perfectly arranged and extremely well balanced flavours.

my favourite had to be the chocolate bavorois for desert. the layers of sweetness, savoury and aromatic spices was amazing.

my only feedback was the service. it started off perfectly but as the entree was done, the service stopped. we had no water and i wasn’t offered a wine with my main, which i was looking forward to, i couldn’t really even get anyone’s attention.

overall the experience wasgreatas i’m a big foodie and loved all 3 courses.

thanks for a beautiful night.

heardgreatthings about this place and situated right by the gorge. we were too late for lunch and too early for the dinner service but the bar menu was still available. the service was friendly and we ordered one of everything on the menu. highlights: beef tartare! so full of flavour and beautifully plated. lowlights: the 'bar' area isgreatfor drinks but the tables are far too small to hold food. $19 for the only glass of tasmanian chardonnay. :(

stillwater is agreatspot for modern australian fare. come for thegreatwines and a beautiful view of the river. don’t get me wrong, the food is delicious. the duck breast as well as the fried quail in particular were fantastic. however we did think it was a little overpriced, but i suppose you pay for location! my macadamia crusted white fish was tasty but the addition of avocado, which wasn’t quite ripe enough, seemed a little strange. nonetheless, we had a really nice evening at the restaurant, which would still be one of launceston’s best.

went to stillwater on a saturday night. tried to book a table but only 9pm slot available. they have agreatfriendly and professional staff. they even fold your napkins when you were away and left it nicely for your return! good food and amazing place to spend time with your loved ones.

stillwater was another cafe circled on our itinerary. we imagined ourselves spending hours dining ongreatfood while enjoying the view of the tamar river. this is what we came to expect after reading the mountains of reviews online, each boasting about the food, service and scenery.

last weekend, i was travelling tasmania with andrea. we had both heard a lot ofgreatthings about the restaurant stillwater. before going to tasmania, we decided we had to head down. stillwater is located in launceston. we ended up making our way there one morning for a spot of brunch, prior to a big trip to cradle mountain.  obviously we needed a satisfying meal, to ensure we survived the day.

i've been to launceston twice, and i've been to stillwater twice. the first time i wanted somewhere nice to eat, the second time i knew i wouldn't be disappointed and would get agreatmeal.
the ambience, the location and the food are all sublime. i couldn't recommend going here highly enough.
attached to the restaurant is a wine cellar, provadore, and an art gallery. definitely take the time to see every level.

the food was devine!
my family and i ate here on a saturday night. the restaurant was very busy so i would defiantly recommend booking in advance.
a fantastic wine list, quite reasonably priced too. the food was to die for, some of the best sushimi i have ever had, we ordered around 8 dishes in total to share, all of which were incredible.
the only reason i do not rate this restaurant 5/5 was because the service was slightly lacking (apparently we did come on the busiest night they have had in a very long time).
also very reasonably priced for howgreatthe food was.
