spring sushi

an honest review. i want to start by saying that no one has paid me to write this review, however i felt the need to.
i have been to spring sushi many times and i have also been to other ayce sushi joints as well. inside of hamilton and outside of hamilton this is the best sushi that you can get ayce style.
the service is extremely fast due to the ipad menu system and this alone makes it a winner for myself.
the sushi is always fresh and like i said i have gone multiple times probably in the range of a dozen.
the servers are 50/50 i find there are some really kind and useful servers and others who think they're almost too good to even be working at such a place. i dislike that however it's not a direct reflection of therestaurantthey're young kids and this is expected by at least 1 server in everyrestaurantyou enter into.
they do need a bigger waiting room yes, but i can almost bet anyone who commented on this doesn't know how to make a reservation either.
i would like to see dim sum come to spring & then it would be the absolute total package of a restaurant!

vegas rolls are amazing! along with the scallops & spicy crispy rolls! all delicious!

ps; spring sushi please get coca cola instead of pepsi or perhaps both haha pepsi takes very peculiar with sushi in my opinion.

i went here for dinner one evening based on the relatively high rating. i was severely disappointed. i was expecting a japaneserestaurantwith with a really good choice of sushi and sashimi items. what i found was a typical all-you-can-eat sushirestaurantand in my experience not a particularly good one. the decor was ok, the service was spotty, the food presentation was almost nonexistent and boring. to sum up the people of hamilton must have very low expectations of a "sushi"restaurantto have given it this high a rating. i will not return to this restaurant.

hunger games. spring sushi is hands down one of the best sushi restaurants i have been to! the food is always great and the service is quick. servers know how to work in a fast-paced environment and that is key especially to an all-you-can eat restaurant. the server that i had was awesome. we didn't have to wait and it was almost like she knew we needed something because she would always be there, to either ask how we were doing or to refill our drinks, needless to say she was great. overall my experience with thisrestaurantwas a 10/10 as always.

pros and cons. spring sushi in hamilton (on upper james) had it's pros and cons.
made a reservation because i heard the place is busy at lunch-time; even with a reservation my group and i had to wait 25 minutes for a table (regular wait time when we were there). - i kindly asked the hostess "what's the point of a reservation if someone has to wait with everyone else?" she replied, "we just don't have a table for you right now". - well you should have prepared one before we got there - that's the point of a reso! - not impressed.
our server (kevin) was very kind and prompt (for the most part). he disappeared for a good 20 minutes, so plates started to pile up, but good service overall. - check
presentation and portion of food was good; standard, but nothing extravagantly special. food comes out at a good pace.- check
they did forget some items that we ordered and it wasn't until we mentioned it to another server (because kevin disappeared at this time), that it was brought. - not impressed.

overall, therestaurantis okay, but i don't care to return. the reservation situation really turned me off because it displays lack of professionalism and quality service.

this is a fine restaurant.. i have eaten at about 25 ayce restaurants. most of them have been in the toronto area and in my opinion, spring sushi compares favourably with the best ayce restaurants in toronto. many of my favourite restaurants have been designed by joe cho and his fine touch is quite evident in this restaurant. for some unknown reason, he had to work with a kitchen set in the middle of therestaurantand he succeeded in creating a modern innovative design that worked.

as far as the food is concerned it is quite good. i especially enjoyed the sauces that came with the kitchen items.

i had no problem with the service. it was fine. i have noticed a couple of complaints about some servers. my advice is to relax. it is not personal. wherever you go, there can be a weak server. instead, smile, enjoy the food and the décor. the place is special.

don't take debit and don't tell you until you try to pay!. i went to dinner there for the first time last night with my sister. the food was okay but definitely on par with august 8 where there is more variety and the food is fresher. however, it was alright. however, the biggest problem came when we tried to pay the bill. they do not take debit -- only cash or credit. while not a particularly smart decision given the young clientele, the biggest concern i had with this is that there is no sign when you come into therestaurantto warn you that they don't take debit. so there we were, no credit card and not enough cash to cover the bill!! they have an atm in the lobby but it was one of the independent ones that (1) charges a fee for withdrawing cash and (2) are not trustworthy, in my opinion. the manager was quick to point out to us that he wasn't the owner and didn't make the decision to not carry debit and was not able to help us out at all!!!! basically passing the buck and/or not empowered to make sure his clients are satisfied! i will never go back there again... will stick with august 8!!!

nice takeout. this is our typical take out sushirestaurantas i have never ate in so can't review what the all you can eat is like. however i have never been disappointed in their take out - even had their party platters for work. always taste fresh and nice portions of tuna and salmon in the sushi - unlike some places where its hardly there.

one of my favourite restaurants in hamilton. the food is not only beautiful but sooo tasty. everything is very fresh. i highly recommend spring sushi. just go on a week day for lunch and you won't be spending a lot at all. they really have a comfortable and modernrestaurantthat would be an ideal place to go for a first date. therestaurantis beautiful inside. the drinks they make here are also awesome, i personally love the island breeze. my favourite roll here is the vegas roll, it's deep fried in their tempura batter and it is delicious. stop reading this review and go to spring sushi!

not coming back. i made a reservation for my daughter's birthday for 8 people. four of us arrived first and four later. we ordered our food, it came very slowly many items were forgotten but the worst part was the rest of the party only received half of their items. we repeatedly asked the server where our food was and why the other four people were not receiving any of their food. the servers responded by shrugging their shoulders and never resolved the problem. it's like we were forgotten. our water glasses were not filled, even after repeatedly asking. i also asked that my daughter be given a birthday cake so we could sing happy birthday but that too was forgotten. our visit was very disappointing especially because i am a repeat customer. i won't be returning to thisrestaurantagain.

i love you more than anything i love you so much. spring sushi is the bestrestaurantin hamilton. i've been going to spring sushi for years and i've had fantastic food every time. every dish is perfect and the service is nice, although it is slow at times, it is worth it.

love this place!. we visited thisrestaurantlast night and we were impressed! the decor of this place is exquisite, it looks like something out of a movie! it was really packed so since we didn't have reservations, we had to wait about 25 minutes to get a table. when we got a table, we were given menus and wrote down our order on the paper provided. the food came instantly and it was amazing! everything tasted incredible; from the coconut shrimp to the pad thai, we didn't have one complaint about the food. the service was also excellent. there was one time where our sushi wasn't coming out and our server came to check on us and told us to reorder as they had mixed up in the kitchen. he was so nice and welcoming, we felt very comfortable with him. the price for all you can eat was also really great, only $24.99 and the portion sizes were huge! we definitely didn't leave this place hungry. will gladly visit again! i recommend this place to everyone!

love it. this is by far my favourite sushi restaurant. i live in grimsby and don't think twice about driving to upper james to visit spring sushi.

the food is always fresh and yummy.

the servers are friendly and always offering more water and cleaning the tables.

the atmosphere in therestaurantin great, the decor is great, even the plates they use are nice.

excellent. i decided to try the takeout menu the other day and found the quality just as good as i do when eating in, which is rare in many establishments! therestaurantitself is all you can eat but you can ask for a menu and just have a couple things if that's all you want, one of the friendly wait staff informed us. i have not had a negative experience yet at this gem of a restaurant!

spring sushi on upper james. spring sushi is a bright and very clean lookingrestaurantto eat with a very pleasing atmoshpere.
the staff were very polite, the service was extremely good and when in doubt about an item on the menu, the staff were very helpful in assisting you.
this all you can eat from a menu of several pages made the choices very difficult but here again the staff gave us assistance.

although therestaurantlooks nice the staff are very rude. the server forced me and my friend to finish everything we ordered and all we had left was a bit of rice. he also walked by our table and said "wow" because we had a lot of food and were taking our time eating it. he later took away our unfinished plate and when we were getting the bill he told us not to order all you can eat. he also told us that he wanted to charge us extra for what we did not finish. this is an awfulrestaurantand i would not recomend anyone to go here. there are many better sushi restaurants in hamilton. i would rate it 0/10. the experience really was awful. do not go here!
