food is always incredible. thechickenand fish are always so tender and i have never been disappointed. i’ve been here 3 times now and love it every time. there have been some misses but more wins and it’s just about trying the menu. every time i go the standard is the chicken, bean noodles, and the buns with sweet dipping sauce. i think i’ll have to also add the cold noodles to the list too! just as a suggestion, between the 2 fishes, don’t select the one with deep fried oil. it’s less spicy and not as flavoursome as the other one.

wow, this was something different. every dish was drowning in rich oily sauce, whether hot (the beef and vegetables) or cold (one withchickenand one with cucumber and garlic - yes even that had lots of chilli sauce). this can cause a big mess but it's great food and big serves. my main complaint is that it's not actually very spicy - just a medium slow-burn spice.

everything here was surprisingly very delicious, and surprised its so tucked away above eating world it should really get more traction. highlights include: deep friedchickenwith dry chili pepper, roast lamb chops, braisedchickenfeet with chili sauce, steamed pork ribs with glutinous rice, combination hotpot in chilli sauce, noodle soup with minced pork dressing. don't worry about the chilli, nothing was as chilli as it looked, but everything was super flavourful and delicious. new favourite hidden gem in chinatown.

spicy joint has ridiculous large menu with amazing spicy options. the seating setup is amazing to allow the intimacy with your own table but enough space to separate from other tables.

we ordered
1. chilled fungi
2. sataychickenskewers
3. chilli gizzard skewers
4. pickled cabbage pot soup
5. pork slices in chilli

all dishes really hit the spot. considering we ordered all these dishes for 2, the 1 dish i would take out was probably the skewers because it’s something you could get anywhere else.

the best sichuan food i’ve had outside of china. there’s a reason people queue to grab a spot at this joint. the food is spicy but just the right amount— addicting!

we ordered 6 dishes (pictured, but i forgot the official names) and were pleasantly surprised with the flavours. thechickenlooked really greasy at first but the spice helped cut the oil — not to mention the meat was extremely tender. the cold noodles were my favourite as they were a good combination of sour, sweet, and spicy. would definitely come again. recommend 10/10

service: 4/5
the service was adequate and i didn’t feel like i was waiting too long or that i was getting bad service. however, i would give this place a 4 instead of a 5 because of the following reason— when you queue, you’re given a number on a piece of paper. you will then notice that the person calling out the humber only speaks in chinese. thankfully, i understand chinese so i was able to recognise when my number was being called. non-chinese speakers just a psa: study up on your chinese numbers or maybe ask for assistance when you go.

ambience: 5/5
the interior is very modern and spacious. the design of the restaurant definitely elevated the whole dining experience. they keep the areas fairly clean which is a plus!

just a tip for people who are visiting for the first time— in order to get to the restaurant, you will need to ride an escalator up one floor.

dopending on time and day you can wait a long time, but i think its worth the wait. i love this place the ambience is great and theres so much space for you to sit! theres also staff in each section so you usally dont have to call for waiters or wait till ones available which is nice.
the food is great i always get thechickeni love it!
even though it is spicy it taste great, the spicy wontons and dan dan noodles is small portioned is great! but been here many times and will continue to come!

i ordered this spicy deep friedchickenbecause it is a signature dish from sichuan/chongqing. it ended up with absolutely disappointment. we are here not discussing cooking style and but chef’s dignity and food safety. the entire dish was cooked with re-used oil. you can taste every single piece ofchickenwith basa flavour. you can image how they were filtering those used oil from another dish then used on your dish with all those gems and bacteria.....i just did not finish it and walked away looking those long queue. terrible....!!!!!

this place is always busy. they serve sichuanese cuisine which basically using mala. dont really suit my taste since i dont like mala😂 however, i like their fried mushroom, kungpaochickenand mantao😗

- quite authentic. it’s one of sydney’s closest matches of sichuan food to the ones in china.
- generous serving size: don’t order too much!
- the bang bangchickenis a must try. if you are into offals, give the mao xue wang a go, you don’t be disappointed. hey, everyone has their first time trying something new.
- average waiting time is 30 minutes on a busy night

spicy joint has a perpetual queue that never seems to disperse. it's not hard to understand why: convenient chinatown location, nice interior and most importantly, good food. highlights: cold poachedchickenin spicy sichuan sauce; steamed pork ribs and millet; fish fillet with pickled vegetables; lamb skewers. the milder chinese cabbage with gingko balanced out the strong flavours of the other dishes nicely. service was efficient and our dishes came out quickly. would recommend but keep in mind there will likely be a line during peak dining hours.

as i was born and brought up in sichuan i am in the position to judge sichuan food, lol.

this restaurant is a chain restaurant in china and founded in shanghai. and there is no spicy joint in sichuan. kind of sichuan food in shanghai style.

i tried more than 10 times for the reasonable price and the good hometown taste.

there are some recommendations:
1. boiled fish with sichuan pickles - basa fish is tender and flavourful! the soup base is salty and sour! don’t recommend to drink, and it’s not design for drinking as well.

i was certain that i heard this name somewhere, thinking back i remembered spicy joint had many branches of sichuan food in shanghai. whether it is the same, i’m not sure. it was beginning to line up at around 6 on friday. the interior design had a modern approach with traditional chinese roots. service wasn’t enthusiastic.

many dishes were presented thoughtfully and carefully. the contrast of chunky chilli sauce with green bean noodles was delicious.chickenwas tender with good heat and flavour. my favourite dish, poached fish in aromatic oil, lacked seasoning and the spice forward aroma. it has room for improvement.

this is nearly my favorite sichuan reataurant in sydney. been there like four times. the service was fast and friendly. there was always a looooong wait at the door but the staffs were friendly. the food tasted great and displayed well. the price was pretty reasonable. various of food to choose from, loved the coldchickendish the most!

the most yummy sichuan food i have ever had! thechickentasks really special and the food serves very quick. we had three of us and ordered eight difference items inmenu,it only spend 120 austria dollars. but it is a shame that they haven't get a drinking alcohol lecense,it is really not good that spicy food with no wine.all in all,the food is really deserve to have a try!go for it!
