you're not there for the food!
was told by the hotel concierge that this is a great little place to have dinner and live jazz so we decided to wait 1.5 hrs for a table. if you don't have a ticket for the jazz, you won't hear themusicin the dining area. hostess was not very pleasant but i guess its her job to make sure folks don't go wandering into the dining area for fun.
food was less than par. we had the gumbo, caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, chicken sandwich, shrimp roumulade and fish dish. the best dish was the bread basket....
caesar salad was skimpy and was missing the dressing, chicken was dry, shrimps did not taste fresh. the fish? i did not try...
so you go to this place for jazz and the bar....not the food!

just ok.... the food was decent, not great (definitely not worth the walk past a lot of better places). we didn't go into the auditorium to see the music, because on top of our $150 dinner (for 3 with 3 adult beverages) they wanted more money to "go in" and see the musicians. i understand a small cover, but it was like $12 or $15 extra for each of us. we ended up finishing dinner and jumping across the street to the spotted cat" (where themusicwas free and amazing!!) the only "one-up" snug harbor had was that it was "smoke free".

great. the best shrimp and burgers we ever had. breaded redfish also very good. we (tourists) were told frenchmen st. is where the locals go for livemusicand food. much less crowded (and less tawdry) than bourbon st. no sleaze here.

themusicwas great as was the service. there was nothing wrong with the food per se, but i thought i was kind of pedestrian for new orleans. this place is kind of off the beaten path which is nice, but i don't think we would go back.

pretentious host. my husband and i just spent 4 days in new orleans and were looking forward to a nice relaxing evening at snug harbor. one table was occupied when we arrived and the host brought us to a table in the middle of the room. we asked for a window table, near the occupied table, so we could take in the view while eating. the host made some comment about seating rotations and said it would take a while if we didn't take the table offered. not wanting to make a big deal out of it, we took the table. during the entire time we were there he didn't seat any group at that table even though the restaurant was practically full by the time we left. i guess he was holding it for someone he thought he could impress. not feeling welcome, we left after our meal and went down the street to d.b.a. where we ended up every night formusicand drinks. the food at snug harbor was good, our waitress colleen was nice but due to the arrogance of the host (julian or something similar) we won't be back.

burger is exceptional.... i love this place, it's tiny (almost to a fault) the menu is short, but what they serve is done well. the burgers rival , dare i say it, port of call's famous burgers. my first time there i assumed they were owned by the same owner because the burgers were so similar. to accompany the burgers, some of the bestmusicyou will hear in new orleans....
