while on a 1.5 hour wait at port of call, a local tipped us off that snugharborwas the same menu by the same owners. we followed up in this tip, and were surprised to find it to be true. same burger. same monsoons. much classier environment. enjoyed it much more than port of call because of the classier ambiance, and to top it off, live music!

best hamburgers in town. to be honest, i haven't tried much else other than their burgers, but they are absolutely delicious! port of call is good too, but i feel the cooks at snugharborare better.

just ok.... the food was decent, not great (definitely not worth the walk past a lot of better places). we didn't go into the auditorium to see the music, because on top of our $150 dinner (for 3 with 3 adult beverages) they wanted more money to "go in" and see the musicians. i understand a small cover, but it was like $12 or $15 extra for each of us. we ended up finishing dinner and jumping across the street to the spotted cat" (where the music was free and amazing!!) the only "one-up" snugharborhad was that it was "smoke free".

great jazz. mediocre food.. this is our absolutely favorite jazz venue in new orleans. it doesn't matter who's playing when we're in town. once we arrive in nola, we call ahead for tickets and have yet to be dissapointed any night of the week. go to snugharborfor the music. the food is just ok (maybe a little overpriced for quality). it is fine in a pinch if you're hungry before the show and don't have time to go anywhere else. on a side note, we have always had a great bar experience there as well (excellent bartenders). eat dinner elsewhere, come early to grab a drink at the bar, and then see a great show.

pretentious host. my husband and i just spent 4 days in new orleans and were looking forward to a nice relaxing evening at snug harbor. one table was occupied when we arrived and the host brought us to a table in the middle of the room. we asked for a window table, near the occupied table, so we could take in the view while eating. the host made some comment about seating rotations and said it would take a while if we didn't take the table offered. not wanting to make a big deal out of it, we took the table. during the entire time we were there he didn't seat any group at that table even though the restaurant was practically full by the time we left. i guess he was holding it for someone he thought he could impress. not feeling welcome, we left after our meal and went down the street to d.b.a. where we ended up every night for music and drinks. the food at snugharborwas good, our waitress colleen was nice but due to the arrogance of the host (julian or something similar) we won't be back.

snugharborbeats the quarter. wonderful change from dining venues in the quarter. live touring jazz bands in the next room. a progressive group with high emotion verve and hum was playing the last time i was there. the menu is fun and fanciful, and the food is memorable. the specials change nightly. after 4 nights dining in and around the quarter, this place was a gem.
