you're not there for the food!
was told by the hotel concierge that this is a great little place to havedinnerand live jazz so we decided to wait 1.5 hrs for a table. if you don't have a ticket for the jazz, you won't hear the music in the dining area. hostess was not very pleasant but i guess its her job to make sure folks don't go wandering into the dining area for fun.
food was less than par. we had the gumbo, caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, chicken sandwich, shrimp roumulade and fish dish. the best dish was the bread basket....
caesar salad was skimpy and was missing the dressing, chicken was dry, shrimps did not taste fresh. the fish? i did not try...
so you go to this place for jazz and the bar....not the food!

came fordinnerbefore an epic show by ellis marsalis, jr. the restaurant is small with a simple menu focused on fresh seafood, steaks aged in house, and fresh ground burgers. my friends had a burger cooked perfect medium and the broiled shrimp (u-15 at least). i had the fish marigny which was perfect. red fish , lightly battered with a cream sauce and shrimp. service was attentive and professional. might need about an hour and a half fordinnerbefore the show. check it out.

just ok.... the food was decent, not great (definitely not worth the walk past a lot of better places). we didn't go into the auditorium to see the music, because on top of our $150dinner(for 3 with 3 adult beverages) they wanted more money to "go in" and see the musicians. i understand a small cover, but it was like $12 or $15 extra for each of us. we ended up finishingdinnerand jumping across the street to the spotted cat" (where the music was free and amazing!!) the only "one-up" snug harbor had was that it was "smoke free".

third time is a charm. was in no for a little r&r recently. i wanted to try the marigny fordinneron friday night.

went to "three muses", too noisey to enjoy conversation atdinnerand the menu wasn't what i was in the mood for.

next we stoped at pralene connection. after being seated, we waited for someone to come back but after 15 minutes of being ignored, we decided they weren't interested in our business.

our third stop was snug harbor. we were seated right away and our waitress was very attentive. the dining room was busy but the kitchen seemed to be on top of things because we got our food timely.

i had the ribeye, i was in a red-meat mood by now. the steak was cooked just the way i ordered it. my friend got chicken and from the look of his plate, it was good.

this will definately be on my repeat list.

great jazz. mediocre food.. this is our absolutely favorite jazz venue in new orleans. it doesn't matter who's playing when we're in town. once we arrive in nola, we call ahead for tickets and have yet to be dissapointed any night of the week. go to snug harbor for the music. the food is just ok (maybe a little overpriced for quality). it is fine in a pinch if you're hungry before the show and don't have time to go anywhere else. on a side note, we have always had a great bar experience there as well (excellent bartenders). eatdinnerelsewhere, come early to grab a drink at the bar, and then see a great show.

much better than the quarter; nola's best burgers.dinnerdaily 5pm-. lunch 11:30am sat and sun. burgers. one of the best jazz clubs in america. short menu. burger was overpriced ($13 in 09) but bug, juicy, tasty. topping perfect. came with a baked potato i had loaded with cheese, sour cream, bacon, chives etc. -- perfect. service slow. soundtrack is amazing, of course. great spot. 09.
