skipper's fish fry

don't like it, find someplaceelse.. was expecting great seafood after hearing everyone talk about thisplaceand was very disappointed. ordered a combo platter and received a plate of over battered, greasy fish. the catfish was full of bones, very thin and over cooked. the scallops are small and bounced higher than most rubber balls. theplacecould also use a good cleaning, we had lots of trash and spoiled food under our table. plus we had to ask for a rag to clean off our own table. i would keep looking for a better seafood place, as this is not one of them.

thisplaceis awesome. they're just what you expect, but better. everything is homemade, the owner was friendly and generous and everyone had something they loved for lunch! they had a nice draft beer selection ( though we were here too early on a sunday to enjoy it). love that you can get things grilled or blackened instead of fried. excellent reports on the blackened fish sandwich, grilled mahi-mahi tacos, gigantic fried fish sandwich, cole slaw, and onion rings. we're so excited to have discovered a great newplaceto go! the integrity of the food is much appreciated.

not sure where brian f ate, but thisplaceis amazing. obviously all fresh ingredients. huge portions! fish is lightly breaded and obviously cod. will go back again!!

good old fashioned fish fry. you know that fishplaceyou go to at the beach, where you go up to the counter and order you plate and the fry it right then and there, it's so good and so reasonably priced that you make it point to go every time you go to the beach. you know theplacei'm talking about...

well you don't have to wait to go to the beach to get that anymore. skipper's is local, just as good if not better, and much cleaner.

yum!. i got caught in apex in an overnight for work. looking for something close to my hotel, i stumbled into skippers. i got the fish tacos, and to my surprise, they were great! granted, thisplaceis no cabo fish taco (charlotte, nc), but it was really good. the tacos were fried cod and came with shredded cabbage and a fresh pico de gallo, and a little slice of fresh lime to squeeze on it, which i took advantage of. a little beer was the perfect compliment, and made for a great meal. if you are expecting a high end seafood place, this aint it. this is a good old fashioned fried fishplacewith reasonably priced food, but much better tasting than most fried fish. ok, now to the con - the counter staff was miserably inexperienced, and seemed clueless. i watched as they struggled to figure out who's food was who's and which one of them should take it to the table. i'm glad mine was take-out. other than that, thisplacewas a nice find

i decided i "liked" skipper's. being a new to the world of restaurant reviews i was not sure how to rate skippers. i thought more about this since doing my blog post on skipper's and decided that yes i liked skippers. i would have to put them in the category of fast food restaurants but in any category you mayplacethem in the fried fish was moist and delicious.

good food and a lot of it. for those who don't like greasy battered fried food maybe they shouldn't go to aplacewith "fry" in it's name....or go on tuesday and saturday and get the steamers according to the menu. went for the first time today, got 2 item combo platter and definitely could have split it with my wife. we both got the large fried shrimp which were really good, i also got the clam strips which were pretty good, each platter also came with fries, cole slaw and hush puppies....a lot of food. looking forward to going back.

best by far. been eating at skipper's for years. there is noplacelike it for quality seafood at the best prices! bring your appetite. portions are huge!!! lunch or dinner, never a wait and food beyond compare!! cooked just right. moist. not over-cooked. seasoned perfectly with a mix that must be a secret family blend. best eats in the triangle for a casual meals with family, friends or just cruising on your own!
