sisters of the new south

very good food! being italian i can honestly say i've never had soul food, but i know now what all the hype is about! it was a little intimidating at first. i wasn't sure how they were set up. i'm from out if town and bought a groupon for my trip. it was a little out of the way, but worth it! wonderfulsouthernfood and waitress in the back was the sweetest thing and very attentive, even though she was by herself. food is a little salty. just don't need to add any ;)

local food. this is an inexpensive place that you have to look for to find. if you are looking for a fine dining restaurant this is not it. it is great food at a good price.

the food is traditionalsouthernincluding oxtails. it is served cafeteria style but they have a dining area next to kitchen. the food is seasoned, not just dumped out of the can. try the smothered shrimp.

we love the sisters and you will too.. why struggle at home trying to make authenticsouthernfried chicken and soul food when you can just go over to the sisters. the sisters know whatsouthernfried chicken is all about, they know the fix’ns. you could never make what they make. just go and enjoy. the one on skidaway is the best. we love the sisters.

very disappointed. thanksgiving lunch was our first visit and will be our last. i do need to say that the turkey itself was very moist, everything else we had was very lacking and most of it was very undercooked. i have heard comments about being better than paula's...i don't think so. and as far as asouthernthanksgiving meal... it was not. i'm verysouthernand it was a disappointment and not even close.

i went here for a late breakfast when visiting and had smothered chicken, biscuits, and okra. awesome--just like home. classicsouthernfood without pretense. great flavors, great sweet tea.

just okay. we went at noon this past monday, waitress was delightful, and we certainly don't mind 'cafeteria' style. however, all of our food was just lukewarm (we were offered a quick heat-up in a microwave!), so my critique reflects that - fried chicken breast was good, thigh (my personal fav) not so good; collards good but not great, a bit too vinegary, sweet potatoes delicious, oxtails good, i'm from up north and we make our mac&cheese with a roux, not cheese melted onto overcooked pasta, but maybe that is asouthernthing - i tried the biscuit - my grandma's were better, i thought they were a bit flat tasting. having said all of this, after seeing the offerings at pd lady&sons (and for a lot more money) these 2 places are neck and neck in terms of what they serve and the quality, so absolutely try the place, but don't expect amazingsoutherncooking, and you may be pleasantly surprised (as long as it's hot when you get it)

this restaurant is fantastic. truesoutherncooking. the food is seasoned very well and the bahama mama punch is so sweet and good i had to get 4 refills. they have large
portions that will really fill you up. i had the green beans, dressing and yellow rice w/smothered pork chops. the green beans were seasoned very well and the meat in the dressing was so tender & flavorful. the pork chops were tender but were not seasoned as much as i would like. my husband had the greens, mac n cheese, yellow rice w/turkey wings and a couple of pieces of fried chicken. the entire meal was to die for. entire meal was seasoned to perfection & the meats were tender & flavorful. overall, this place is great!!!! can't wait to be in the area again!!!

the real dealsouthernstyle meal. when you enter the establishment, do not be deterred by the appearance of the interior or exterior, it has no bearing on the quality of the food, which is outstanding! if you're new to savannah, and have a desire for realsoutherncuisine, then you must try sisters of the new south restaurant. paula deen cannot compete with the authenticity of sisters. the price of a meal is fair for the amount of food served. the employees were very friendly and the service was quick, even with the long line. plenty of parking, and they have a shuttle bus!

wonderful!! what a great find!!!!. sisters from the new south was an amazing spot!!! if you want real downtownsouthernfood this is the spot for you.we went in on a saturday afternoon around 1:00-1:30, we had no wait, however now that i have been there i would wait for that homemadesouthernfood anyday of the week. people came in get they're food, eat and head out so the wait would not be long.the food was so good,they have a bunch of sides so you pick your meat and i got chickhen(two die for)so moist and not a bit greasey, you also get cornbread... the sides change daily. it is a must do in savannah!!!!!
