just had a great coffee and yummy breakfast but your music is blasting - at just 9am - and your waiter is asleep. driven out.

a memorable experience. had heard a lot about the place. decided to check it out and met a friend for coffee. ordered a long black and they served me a single origin from burindi. man was it memorable! it was light, had great acidity and was well rounded. had some great flowery top notes and stayed lovely hot to cool.

great coffee,good bacon-not too fatty & the poached eggs were soft as required .good service too!

i'm happy to report that i liked my kedgeree of quinoa, smoked ocean trout, egg, cauliflower, dukkah and goat's cheese too. i can't describe it well but i thought it tasted quite indian-inspired. it was an explosion of flavors and textures in the mouth with the generous ocean trout and enough goat's cheese for every bite!

arguably the best coffee in sydney. a pity they don't open on weekend though!

the best cold drip coffee ever. a great variety of coffees and ordered a 12hr cold dripped coffee. it's the best cold drip coffee that i've ever had with very low acidity and its a great option for having a cup of coffee in summer.
bought a single origin brazilian coffee beans which was fantastic and great flavour of aromas. hoping they can be opened at weekends too.

 nice coffee here. didn't have time to eat sadly as there were some tasty choices available but the coffee was good and that was what i wanted.

the breakfast was quite novelty, but i love novelty! it was interesting and even though not all the dishes were 100% suited to my palate, my eyes (and s4) could at least feed on it. so i admit that i was slightly disappointed with the taste of the food overall but it was still a good experience. the staff were nice friendly and the atmosphere was quite chillaxing. this place is supposed to be very good at it’s coffee brewing, but i can’t tell since…yeah. i don’t like/drink coffee.

...there are a few places i know i can rely on to get a consistently good cup of coffee. single origins has been one of the very few places i know i can trust and occasionally i drop by to have a bite too...

...the service was great- friendly, casual and quick. the coffee is taken seriously and that's actually why it's so great, in fact i'd probably say these guys are the rock stars of the cafe world knowing how to turn out perfect coffee followed by perfect coffee. they are busy but my tip is to get there before 8am- you beat the rush for the before work time coffee. if you do have to wait it really isn't that long and since it's a well oiled machine your up to the counter straight away and your on your iphone checking emails (as we all do) for a couple of mins while your coffee gets made and the wait really isn't that long.

so i really didn't want to like this place. it's going to sound mean but it simply had too much hype. i'd read about it, heard about it and when tobey maguire declared it to make the best coffee in sydney in a recent interview that sealed the deal for me- too hipster and cool kid for this girl. also, i had walked past single origin and always seen a queue or a heap of people waiting on the pavement- who has the time for that?? i thought i'd rather stick with the lesser known coffee place up the road where i got a coffee in 2 minutes flat, they know my name and order off by heart and it was cheap. then on a whim (a.k.a. having no where to be on a week day morning- a rarity with that pesky thing called work) i decided it was time to stop being so judgmental and give it a go. well i'm prepared to eat my words- the coffee was pretty darn awesome and lived up to the hype. sure it had the elements which had kept me away. there was that surry hills cool kid vibe ( i spied at least one person

've heard a lot of talk about the exceptionable coffee on offer at single origin and their rockstar baristas, but i've just never been motivated to go there. mostly as they are only open on weekdays and secondly my thing is more about the eating of the food rather than the drinking of the coffee. i'm an idiot as their food is amazing! the menu has a nifty little glossary (some of quite funny) that explains where all of their produce is sourced - all of it is free range and happy happy. this place is the real deal when it comes to ethical produce.

5 top places to visit this july. the team here takes their coffee seriously. it’s a great place to grab a coffee and their cafe next door serves up a killer banana bread with the house-made espresso butter. fyi, they’re not open on weekends.
