in short: come here for brunch. fresh, healthy food that's light on your stomach and makes you feel good about yourself afterwards. mostly vegetarian. get the coffee. get the affogato.
food:
pretty damn good. the affogato was amazing. i just regret not being tired that day and so not getting one of their coffees. what a damn shame. the options here are extremely healthy and almost all vegetarian, so if that's your thing, you'll absolutely adore it here. i wouldn't say it's filling, but that's not what you'd come here for. it's a great place for brunch and lunch. their most recommended options are 'the mothership bowl' and the 'cured salmon pastrami' if you're looking for a proper lunch.
ambience:
it's an adorable, little cafe (little is the key word here) with little outdoor tables and chairs, and blankets in case you get cold. even if you choose to sit inside, the huge windows are wide open and you basically feel like you're sitting on the street anyway. it's great! also a huge plus that this cafe is in a small side street with very little car traffic going through so you don't have the loudness that usually comes with sitting on the street. also, people are always walking by with their tiny, adorable dogs (how very surry - really, there were 2 pomeranians and a dog walker who walked by in the 30 minutes i sat there for).
service:
quick and polite. no complaints here.
transport:
it's difficult to get here by public transport - trust me, we got lost running around in circles in surry hills for about 20 minutes. maybe that's just because i'm terrible with directions and need to be led around like a child though hahaha. however, i'm sure it's even harder to park around here, so maybe just take the bus. it's not a long walk if you don't get lost - about 10 minutes from the nearest bus stop on elizabeth st, i think.
