not in the elite. simon's is a hugely popularrestaurantin anchorage, but please don't be fooled. two of the last three times i have gone there it has been bad. one time my party and myself, four total, were forced to wait around an hour even though we had reservations. in the end we decided to seat ourselves in the attached bar, the food was nothing remarkable that night either. another time i stopped in with my dad to try their elk burger, a special that day, the burger was decent until i bit into a bone chip in the burger and slightly chipped a tooth. though in their defense they took care of the bill and offered to pay for any dental work, very nice of them. lastly, the last good experience i had there was at easter brunch with family, the service was quick and the meal was very tasty, i had french toast with berry compote and my dad had some tasty corned beef hash. in the end there are many other places i would go to first if i was looking for a fancy dinner.

the only thing keeping thisrestaurantfrom a perfect score in my mind is their inability to handle their busy times efficiently. i was lucky and able to find a spot in the bar because therestaurantwas packed. it's not even tourist season yet. the halibut cheeks were some of the best i've ever had and the rest of the meal did not disappoint.

hit or miss. overall i like this place, but the food can be kind of hit or miss when sitting on therestaurantside. i have always had excellent service, but i would recommend to sit in the bar and have drinks and apps rather than dinner. this is a great happy hour place. the view is pretty great on a summer night if you are lucky enough to get a table by the windows.

i'll admit, i detest chain restaurants.  most alaskans love them but i'm not one of them.  s&s is just an ok place.  the drinks are very good but the bar appetizers and therestaurantofferings are something you'd expect from a tourist place or a chain restaurant.  and the prices are rather high considering the average quality.  i can think of many, many, many places in town that offer similar dishes at prices that aren't as high as s&s.  and i can guarantee the alaskan seafood at those places is fresh, something i cannot guarantee at s&s (nor could the staff).i would have given it 2 stars but the view from therestaurantis incredible.  if, that is, you get a table with a view.  otherwise a meal there is very forgettable.

eh. a seafoodrestaurantin anchorage is overpriced. the place itself is nice, but the food isn't worth the prices that they charge. maybe tourists would appreciate it better.

was really looking forward to the halibut cheeks and french onion soup and couldn't have been more disappointed. cheeks were so salty and dry they had to throw an entire batch out and the soup was delivered without broth. for arestaurantthat is said to be a local favorite it delivered like a disappointing chain restaurant. very sad and certain we won't ever be back.

i flew into anchorage for the first time this past weekend and knew that i wanted something i couldn't get from back home (i'm from ohio). my husband and i got picked up by a cab and asked him to take us to the best seafoodrestaurantin anchorage, which he recommended simon and seaforts. therestaurantsits on the harbor and you can get a seat by the huge class window and watch the alaskan sunset. we ordered the calamari, the sampler and the halibut cheeks. i cannot begin to describe how amazing the halibut cheeks were. i continue to rant and rave about them! i would highly recommend thisrestaurantto anyone wanting good seafood and a beautiful view!

this is the bestrestaurantin anchorage, period. their fresh seafood is second to none. it's not cheap, but well worth the price. if you're on a budget i recommend going to wendy's, but if you want great food, great service, and a spectacular view, come here.

many years of great. we'd not been to simons in several years and in april we went for my husband's birthday lunch. we showed up very casual in tshirts and jeans and were seated in the midst of working professionals in suits and ties as thisrestaurantis a building housing many corporations and law firms. they have a reputation as being a place lawyers frequent. although i felt awkward we received absolutely stunning service. their window seating offers incredible views of cook inlet and the food was phenomenal. we have always enjoyed the food and service at simon's and wondered why we'd never tried them for lunch before and why it had been so long since we'd been there. it was an excellent experience. we wont wait so long to return and i can feel more comfortable in my casual clothes next time knowing the staff really doesn't care what you wear....

halibut cheeks yum yum!. i have to say, this place is amazing...well, their halibut cheeks are. normally when i go to arestauranti branch out each time and try something new. not this place. the halibut cheeks are so delicious, i can't imagine eating here without ordering them. my husband has had the steak and prime rib and both of those were really good as well. the apps are to die for as well. my favorite is the crab and artichoke dip but the teriyaki tinderloin is pretty good too. :) and make sure to have one of their mojitos...they are so well made you will have downed 5, stood up and sat back down again.

a good chain restaurant. simon's does a nice job, and it can be fun to go there. amazing how the bar crowd changes over time, and over the years. the food is quite good (not great), but i'd so rather spend my money on a locally ownedrestaurantwith a bit more atmosphere than is offered here.
