not in the elite. simon's is a hugely popular restaurant in anchorage, but please don't be fooled. two of the last three times i have gone there it has been bad. one time my party and myself, four total, were forced to wait around anhoureven though we had reservations. in the end we decided to seat ourselves in the attached bar, the food was nothing remarkable that night either. another time i stopped in with my dad to try their elk burger, a special that day, the burger was decent until i bit into a bone chip in the burger and slightly chipped a tooth. though in their defense they took care of the bill and offered to pay for any dental work, very nice of them. lastly, the last good experience i had there was at easter brunch with family, the service was quick and the meal was very tasty, i had french toast with berry compote and my dad had some tasty corned beef hash. in the end there are many other places i would go to first if i was looking for a fancy dinner.

hit or miss. overall i like this place, but the food can be kind of hit or miss when sitting on the restaurant side. i have always had excellent service, but i would recommend to sit in the bar and have drinks and apps rather than dinner. this is a great happyhourplace. the view is pretty great on a summer night if you are lucky enough to get a table by the windows.

we heard about it during our trolly tour. we went there for an early dinner. the view is unbelievable. the ambience is great. i tried their alaskan rockfish and their wilberry salad. they were both delicious. my daughter started with calamari and had cioppino. she liked her food but about anhourlater felt sick in stomach. and that left a bad taste in our mouths.

nice decor but overpriced! my wife liked the encrusted scallops. i had the king crab which was ok. not as sweet and tasteful as other places in anchorage. for the price i would expect them to be split to allow easy eating. we both had scalloped potatoes with our entrée. the 1st bite or two were fine but they soon got tough, chewy and overwhelmed by the heavy cheese. i really love cheese and i thought that i would never say too much cheese but... these had way too much cheese! the creme brûlée was good. service was very slow but i have to give our waitress props! she was continually busy with folding napkins, busing tables etc. while waiting on customers when at the same time one waitress laughed and talked to the same table for 30 mins. leaving other waitresses to do her work. i doubt that i will be back for anything besides happyhourspecials.

should of listened to the reviews. management issue needs to be fixed or you can just say it's alaska and everything takes time to make it here, even your food. well....started with reservations took us 20 mins to get seated at our table and we where there on time. after we where seated our drinks and appetizers came in a timely manner along with my kids food...then we waited another 56 mins for our food. portion size was fit for a toddler i had to check an see if we ordered off the kids menu! the waiters where nice but the confusion came from the kitchen and funneled all the way to the bus boy. i felt like i was on one of those kitchen nightmare shows. the food was pretty good considering. ...but when you live up here you do not get what you pay for 100 bones for miniscule meal. in law's from the lower 48 where very disappointed in the service and the food....sorry guys gave you the benefit of the doubt, but like the 140ish people who rated you 75 percent of the people say the same thing your service sucks.....nice view though but after anhouri would of rather tossed there management out of the window. because this is clearly a management issue you can't do the same thing over an over again and get the same result but i guess that's what i'm doing complain like every one else who wasted there life in your restaurant.

mediocre. ate here for new years eve dinner. the oysters were amazing, but that is kind of hard to mess up....just shuck and serve, although it did take a halfhourfor our first half dozen to show up. drinks i must say were excellent, the moscow mule being the best. lastly is my review of the steak, i had the filet mignon which was ordered medium and arrived about as char broiled as can be. overall i recommend the place for a drink and some excellent appetizers however, steaks here seem to be on par with a chain steakhouse at best.

i like to sit in the bar and order from the happyhourmenu. make sure to go early enough as this area gets crowded. the clam chowder is heavenly! the view is great by the window. the prices are cheaper off the happyhourmenu.

simon & seafort's. the first time i went to s & s, it was with a group of friends. we headed to the half-off happyhouron a friday afternoon. $4 drinks, and heavily discounted appetizers, with a jovial (but busy) atmosphere will set off any friday night on the right foot.

my friends ordered the $4 cabernet sauvignon, which wasn't bad. i ordered the chardonnay, which had zero flavor. then we had the meatloaf sliders, which we finished and ordered more they were so good! tried out the beef teriyaki, sweet potato fries and also the artichoke dip. by the time we were done, we each paid about $25, had a light buzz and full tummies.

it's definitely worth trying during the happy hour.

with that said, i'll review the second time we went to s & s. we decided to try a full dinner this time, on a tuesday night; we had a relative in town on his way to japan and thought we'd show him a good time and a nice dinner. after we sat on the bar side, it wasn't that busy, and our waiter knew immediately we were there (we sat right next to the register/ drinks/ silverware area). right away he set out a bread basket for us. unfortunately, none of us wanted to touch it yet, as we didn't have plates, napkins, waters, or silverware for another 15 minutes.

he eventually brought the accoutrement for our appetizer, but we were catching up and were not quite ready to order. because of this, we waited and waited for him to come back. eventually, my boyfriend and his cousin ordered the salmon dinner special of the day, and i ordered the tableside seafood etoufee. all was cooked to perfection, though i was a tad disappointed in the etouffee, the accompanying sauce was not that great.

what really stung about this dinner was not the lacking, long service and forced conversation from the waiter, but the outrageous prices. we ordered three entrees, no appetizers, no dessert and only drank waters, and our bill was well over $100.

do not get me wrong, the dinner was great. however, you could get an equivalent quality meal, with appetizers and a beer at the brewhouse or a multitude of other places for less than we paid at simon and seafort's.

the moral of the story is, i will not be returning, unless it's for happy hour, to simon and seafort's.

an anchorage classic?. very popular in town and the foodis pretty good, but be prepared to pay for it. the wait can be lengthy at times too. for better value check out their happyhourin the saloon between 4and 6pm weekedays. also they sometimes have a late night happyhouras well. appetizers are half price, and various drink specials are on offer.
