simon & seafort's saloon & grill

hit or miss. overall i like this place, but the food can be kind of hit or miss when sitting on the restaurant side. i have always had excellent service, but i would recommend to sit in the bar and have drinks and apps rather than dinner. this is agreathappy hour place. the view is prettygreaton a summer night if you are lucky enough to get a table by the windows.

i hadgreatexpectations for a $40 southwest ribeye! instead i hadgreatdisappointments. the steak was fatty and tough. i've bought better steaks at walmart. not only was the steak less than prime quality at $40 per serving, the service recovery was worse. instead of an apology at first i was told "we" will make it better next time. when i expressed that this was not acceptable a person stating she was the manager removed the least expensive item from the bill instead of the steak. sorry i won't be back!!!

wish the food and service lived up to thegreatambiance, location, and atmosphere. the location and ambience of simon & seafort's are the best parts about this restaurant; the ambience is lively and you get agreatview with your dinner. however, the service needs improvement. i went here for dinner with my fiance and we felt like our service was kind of snobby...we both felt like we were more of a burden than guests. my crab-stuffed halibut was good, (but it could have been better), and i was let down by my honey's etouffe- the presentation was really strange (sauce on the side??). overall, i like this restaurant, but better food and service can be found elsewhere..

3rd time! charm?? nott!!. after horrible food prep the third time during "brunch" i'm done !!
server was great. sunday morning smells like dirty mop water. :( sad because the menu looksgreatand the view of the inlet is priceless. morning staff has no regard for patrons while conversing about work issues. :(

this is the best place to go for an after work drink and appetizer! the happy hour menu hasgreatdrinks and the view is great

downhill. used to be the go-to place for upscale dining,greatfood, good service. the only thing left is thegreatview. the service is more like a diner now and the food borders on nasty. what happened !?!?!?!?

delicious seafood,greatview!. we ate here a couple of times during our trip to anchorage. the food was very very good, there was agreatattention to detail, a wonderful level of cleanliness, beautiful decor, overall such a nice relaxing place to spend an evening enjoying a meal.

nice view. had dinner at simon & seafort's last night. wait staff is very nice and they accomodated my request for a booth. even though we ran late arriving they were kind enough to hold our table.

we had the oysters rockfeller for appetizer. i had the king crab cakes and my dining parter had the appetizer sampler for a main course and we split an iceberg wedge salad.

the oysters weregreatand tasty. our server graciously subbed the cheddar bacon grits for the rice on my order and had no issues with a side of the bbq hollandaise i asked for. everything was pretty good, but i was not enthralled with the hollandaise and did not like the texture. portion size was adequate, and just enough without overdoing it.

for dessert we had the burnt cream (creme brulee). it was everything it should have been, albeit a bit large of a portion if it was only for one person.

we lingered and chatted though the teriffic alaskan sunset, and while they did collect our check, they did not rush us or ask us to leave.

nice atmosphere, good wait staff. nice place for a sunset dinner!

just ok.... i expect more when i pay that amount of money for a steak. does stuffed mean just put it on top? is medium rare now medium well? is it ok to have hard cold mashed potatoes? and my 16$ crap dip appetizer was served with cold hard bread. very sad. the jambalaya was spice-less and not a lot of flavor.my daughter had a burger and it was good and so were the fries.
the drinks were really really sweet and i noticed that everyone next to me had a mojito so i ordered one, yup, those were good and tasty.
i'd go for a mojito but that's about it. oh, the service wasgreatby the way.

i like to sit in the bar and order from the happy hour menu. make sure to go early enough as this area gets crowded. the clam chowder is heavenly! the view isgreatby the window. the prices are cheaper off the happy hour menu.

overrated.. when i moved to anchorage, everyone told me to try simon's. i've been there twice since and can say the only thing i really liked about it was the bar. overly priced, they over cooked my salmon and their premeal bread is plain, white, flavorless italian. not very impressive. the service was decent but for a place with such a good reputation i've been disappointed nearly everytime i've been there...with the exception that they have a surprisingly good margarita and agreatwine list.
