food is bad, overcooked and inedible. service is ok. the only thing good is the view. cocktails are mediocre and weak.

dinner. one of the worst dining experiences in anchorage...very expensive for what you get. plate presentation not impressive at all...portions very skimpy for alaska...thought everything was bigger there!

not in the elite. simon's is a hugely popular restaurant in anchorage, but please don't be fooled. two of the last three times i have gone there it has been bad. one time my party and myself, four total, were forced to wait around an hour even though we had reservations. in the end we decided to seat ourselves in the attached bar, the food was nothing remarkable that night either. another time i stopped in with my dad to try their elk burger, a special that day, the burger was decent until i bit into a bone chip in the burger and slightly chipped a tooth. though in their defense they took care of the bill and offered to pay for any dental work, very nice of them. lastly, the last good experience i had there was at easter brunch with family, the service was quick and the meal was very tasty, i had french toast with berry compote and my dad had some tasty corned beef hash. in the end there are many other places i would go to first if i was looking for a fancy dinner.

consistent. always a safe bet for a good experience. be sure to stop in for the period of time that they have discounts.

the only thing keeping this restaurant from a perfect score in my mind is their inability to handle their busy times efficiently. i was lucky and able to find a spot in the bar because the restaurant was packed. it's not even tourist season yet. the halibut cheeks were some of the best i've ever had and the rest of the meal did not disappoint.

seafood fettuccine. s&s used to have the best seafood fettuccine. they changed the recipe and now it is a very dry dish with no sauce. they still might have the best bread pudding in town.

hit or miss. overall i like this place, but the food can be kind of hit or miss when sitting on the restaurant side. i have always had excellent service, but i would recommend to sit in the bar and have drinks and apps rather than dinner. this is a great happy hour place. the view is pretty great on a summer night if you are lucky enough to get a table by the windows.

we were never really super impressed with our trips to simon & seafort's. i think it may be a regional problem, though. being from the gulf coast were used to very flavorful seafood, and the seasoning seems to be less than we're accustomed to.

we heard about it during our trolly tour. we went there for an early dinner. the view is unbelievable. the ambience is great. i tried their alaskan rockfish and their wilberry salad. they were both delicious. my daughter started with calamari and had cioppino. she liked her food but about an hour later felt sick in stomach. and that left a bad taste in our mouths.

i'll admit, i detest chain restaurants.  most alaskans love them but i'm not one of them.  s&s is just an ok place.  the drinks are very good but the bar appetizers and the restaurant offerings are something you'd expect from a tourist place or a chain restaurant.  and the prices are rather high considering the average quality.  i can think of many, many, many places in town that offer similar dishes at prices that aren't as high as s&s.  and i can guarantee the alaskan seafood at those places is fresh, something i cannot guarantee at s&s (nor could the staff).i would have given it 2 stars but the view from the restaurant is incredible.  if, that is, you get a table with a view.  otherwise a meal there is very forgettable.

i'm not sure if they know it, but their french onion soup is among the best in north america. a group of ours have been testing soups around the continent. innocently at first now it's gotten more serious.
broth: excellent flavour, deep rich, sweetness is balanced
onions: thin and properly prepared
crustini: the only fault in the soup. a bit big. not toasted enough
cheese: plenty of cheese, not too thick, type of cheese could use more bite, browned properly by the broiler
portion: large

good service as well.

thank you

nice decor but overpriced! my wife liked the encrusted scallops. i had the king crab which was ok. not as sweet and tasteful as other places in anchorage. for the price i would expect them to be split to allow easy eating. we both had scalloped potatoes with our entrée. the 1st bite or two were fine but they soon got tough, chewy and overwhelmed by the heavy cheese. i really love cheese and i thought that i would never say too much cheese but... these had way too much cheese! the creme brûlée was good. service was very slow but i have to give our waitress props! she was continually busy with folding napkins, busing tables etc. while waiting on customers when at the same time one waitress laughed and talked to the same table for 30 mins. leaving other waitresses to do her work. i doubt that i will be back for anything besides happy hour specials.

eh. a seafood restaurant in anchorage is overpriced. the place itself is nice, but the food isn't worth the prices that they charge. maybe tourists would appreciate it better.

too expensive for subpar food. i wouldn't go back. if this the best anchorage has to offer, then boy are they in trouble. service was good and our server was great, just wish the food were the same.
