so let's talk about sheesh mahal. i will quickly talk about what works.
1. service is good
2. food is nice but not out of this world

now let's talk about the experience thats what we go to aplacelike this?

zomato readers please be aware they have a cover charge of 2500 per person. whether you order food worth 2500 or not? i told them what if one doesn't have an appetite to eat food worth this amount they assured you would as price for each item is roughly 1500 still when our bill came we were billed for 1050 of unused amount ? so actual bill was less then 3950 plus cover charge of un used amount plus taxes.

now this is extortion, one doesn't mind paying for what you eat but putting an cover charge to an restaurant ? is not done period. been to michelin star restaurants it doesn't happen even there?

i think the reason i could fathom for this is they want to keep general public out of the premises so they keep ridiculous pricing policy at onset.

however i would forgive leela they have a monstrous task of debt restructuring may be someone felt ' wow this is a great idea'

but no, putting this chain off my corporate roster.

we looked up lake view restaurants in udaipur and found sheesh mahal to be the idealplacelooking at the pictures and reviews. we made a reservation in advance (and i recommend to book a table before visiting).

to reach the hotel, we took the hotel boat from doodh talai which costs 200 rs + tax per person. i'm not sure if there's any other simpler way to reach the hotel. they check the ids before you board the boat so make sure to carry them.

the boat ride is a quick 10-min ride and offers great views of pichola lake. we went much after dark so couldn't see much. also, one should not take the old city route to reach doodh talai as it has extremely small roads and cars cannot cross them (we had to take an auto).

on reaching the palace, we were greeted and escorted to sheesh mahal. we were given a nice table just by the lake. the ambience was great. everything looked resplendent.

we quickly ordered our food - daal bati choorma, paneer makhani, breads and dahi ke kebab for starters. i loved the dahe ke kebabs and also the main course apart from daal bati which was pretty average.

we had no appetite left for dessert hence didn't try one. overall experience was great and totally worth it, even though it was quite expensive (says 2200 for 2 on zomato but shpuld be close to 5k for 2).

it was a perfect candlelight lakeside dinner with amazing views of taj lake palace, city palace, etc. we went back by the boat which dropped us to doodh talai, from where our car picked us up.

first of all, what a view you get when you dine next to a lake and that too... lake pichola. you can either reach sheesh mahal by road or you make reservations to avail a boat ride. the reservation are based on time slots and the best time to enjoy the beauty of udaipur is during sunset. thisplacegives you a chance to see the udaipur is lights specially the city palace. although, no one can compare the view from jag mandir... but anyways, thisplacehas its own charms and leisure. as usual, the staff is very polite and chef reaches out to you for feedback.

i have been visited to thisplacea week ago to have its breakfast buffet.thisplaceis awesome and the service which they provide you is 10/10 .the food is delicious and ambience is so good here. you can have more than 25+ dishes in breakfast.overall i can say it is must visitplaceif you are planning to visiting udaipur.

visited thisplaceon september 12 and just loved the overall experience. it serves only indian food and is on the costly side, but every penny spent is worth of it.

starter:

veg tandoori platter - we loved the overall taste and presentation.

main course:

palak mangodi - can't ask for more authentic taste. serving size - sufficient for 3-4 people.

dal makhani - one of the best dal makhani i ever had. serving size - sufficient for 1 person

yellow dal tadka - average taste. serving size - sufficient for 1 person.

cost - approx. 5k

staff was courteous and helped us with the portion size and other details about the dish.

i would like to thank mr. digvijay and mr. santosh from restaurant team to make our dining experience so delightful.

i read an article which stated that it is one among the top 10 romantic restaurants in india 🇮🇳 and honestly after visiting it i was completely in awe of the elegance and grandeur of the place, as much as i have seen with my own eyes this is the most romantic one indeed, food 🥘 was mouthwatering although prices were on the higher side but made sense seeing the man made wonder kind of aplace... a perfect 👌 10/10

an amazing and spectacular luxury diningplacein udaipur. don't miss whenever you explore the city! its an open air restaurant and it looks very awesome at night as it is surrounded by city palace, taj lake palace, jagmandir and oberoi udaivilas. all glittering lights and spectacular ambience makes the dining memorable and romantic.
the food served was delicious with rajasthani touch and fresh spices just added values to it. the staff was so good and can do anything to meet the customers satisfaction. 
amazing food preparation. must try items are :- non veg platter, murgh makhni (cooked in rajasthani style)

udaipur is known as 'city of lakes' and most of the luxurious hotels are located by the lake.
leela is also located on the shores of lake pichola.

the food, staff, ambience, service, hospitality is to the perfection. when you step in thisplaceguests are greeted with so much love and affection.

everything on the menu is so tasty. i have been here before a couple of time and had indian food. the indian food is very tasty from dal makani to their biryani everything is very tasty.

on my last visit we had continental food. the burger is served with chips and is so filling. it's enough for one person. the portion looks huge. the burger tasted nice.
we also ordered red sauce pasta, pizza and nachos. all of the food was very tasty.

the ambience here so amazing. you can see the city palace and glimpse of old city.

theplaceis very expensive but it's worth coming here for the taste of food, ambience and their hospitality.

you must definitely visit thisplacewith family, friends or even a date.

totally recommended to atleast visit once!
