sea captain's house

good seafood experience. we wanted to try out the sea captain's for some time. its been around for a long time and we've heard a bit about it over the years. we finally visited.
the place has a cool history and was never supposed to be a restaurant but after this many decades i guess they'll keep it one!
after a short wait we were seated. service was very efficient and good. our server was polite and very serious about getting food out to her tables. very short wait to receive our salads and then the entree came before we finished the salads. we didn't mind too much since we were eating so much during the trip to mb.
the food was good and the the hush puppies that were brought to start the meal were delicious.
we had a good experience. i recommend it to other seafood lovers visiting mb.

a bit overpriced. the seafood was really good. the hushpuppies were really good too. hushpuppies are served as an appetizer to the meal which is kinda creative and nice. you have a great ocean view while dining. the only negative thing that i will say is... i feel the food was a bit overpriced. there are other places where you can get just as good or even better tasting seafood at half the cost. i think you are paying for atmosphere here. i think it cost $80 bucks for 2 adults and a toddler meal. so, if you don't mind the cost for a little ambience, give it a try.

best on the beach!. we return here each time we visit myrtle beach. the last time we were pleasantly surprised by the drinks and music on the back lawn, which was new to us. the wait was a bit long (1 hour or so), but the back patio bar and seating made it enjoyable. the food is delicious! hush puppies are second to none, and the avocado crab appetizer is delicious! the jambalaya is great. crab cakes are mediocre and not the best thing on the menu. try to be seated with view of the ocean, as it is beautiful. this is one of my myrtle beach favorites, and i will go back!

waiting to get in is always such a pain. just not worth the trouble.

wow... i don't know how anyone could be disappointed with this place. it's very popular so don't go in a hurry as there will be a wait. hush puppies are amazing as was the caesar. the she-crab soup is a must! best scallops i've ever had. my gf loved the shrimp and grits. pricey but you get what you pay for !

the wait staff is very friendly and efficient. it is a popular place for te elderly to eat. hush puppies (these have onions in them) and sweet tea are good along with the clam chowder ! i had the crab cakes and they were stuffed with crab, delicious !

this was a great place to eat!!! it's small & the building is misleading because it's not fancy at all but its awesome!!!!! it's a must!! much better than all those buffet bars.

avoid like the plague. this dump take forever to seat you if anyone in your party is under 10 years of age.
i wish i had not waited. earlier in the day, while fishing with my toddler, i picked up what i thought was a cheerio and popped it into my mouth - much to my horror it was a scrap of bait, probably a shrimp spinchter. having finished my seafood platter at this dump i can say without a doubt that my misstep on the pier earlier in the afternoon was by far the best seafood i consumed that day. run run run, do not pass go, do not waste your money - you will be happier if you go dumpster diving at captain d's.

very good. the location right on the beach is great. i ordered what the waiter suggested, the filet of beef neptune. i travel almost every week with my job and have paid $75 for a steak in chicago, but i have to say this was one of the best steaks i have ever had. melted in my mouth, and the jumbo shrimp and bernaise sauce was an excellent addition. came with a potato, vegetables and a very fresh dinner salad for $25, and it was enough to share with someone. i am actually going back tonight. i also tried the fried shrimp and fried oysters, which were good. someone else at my table ordered the shrimp and grits, and she said they were some of the best she has ever had. true, the prices are more than a red lobster, but you definitely get what you pay for here. service was great, food was great, and view was great. i would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

excellent seafood. sea captain does a terrific job on all aspects of the restaurant business. very friendly service compliments well prepared seafood dishes. a broad menu has several unique items and all all are extremely tasty. the decor could stand an upgrade but the food doesn't need any changes.

a must try. great seafood and great atmosphere. please try when you visit myrtle beach.

too pricey for what you get. the prices were too high for what you get & the quality of the food definitely as not worth the price. the only thing i really enjoyed was the ocean view. that was really nice. otherwise i'll go somewhere else for good food. ; (

a must visit each trip. i have been going to myrtle beach for over 40 yrs and as long as i can remember, one night's dining has always included a trip to the sea captain's. the trip wouldn't be complete without it. the staff is always friendly and the atmosphere always welcoming. though you may have to wait to be seated for awhile you can enjoy sitting in the back yard enjoying the ocean view. i usually eat the salmon or a steak which is always cooked to perfection. never any room for dessert. their hush puppies have always been my favorite, the best on the strand!
