saviano's italian kitchen

yummy in my tummy!. my family has been eating at saviano's for years. i would strongly encourage anyone who had a bad experience to go back because the food really is great and any restaurant is going to have an "off" night every once in a while. the atmosphere is very welcoming with dim lighting and music. the owner has two sons and one of the three are always there.
the drinks: they only serve house wine which are all quite tasty! they have small wine glasses but fill them all the way up to the top. you really get your money's worth. i believe you can bring your own wine if you like with a corking fee...
the food: i've had pretty much everything on the menu besides the seafood because i don't care for seafood. everything has been really good but if you need suggestions i would say to definitely try the pizza, penne alla vodka (so good!), and the cappellini capri. those are my faves. entrees come with a smallsaladand bottomless garlic knots.

saviano's is a great little gem of euless. the food is excellent and the service is good. anyone looking for great italian food without all the bells and whistles that come with fancier restaurants should go to saviano's.

amazing food! the housesaladdressing with the rolls is a treat. try the vodka sauce pasta. if you like cheesecake, go for the raspberry sauced one.

surly, indifferent service. i've normally eaten at saviano's for lunch - occasionally supper.

past experience:
first, food has always been near the top of my list for mid-cities italian. lunch has been relatively fast and satisfying (line service brought to your table). suppers, slower, more relaxed (sit down table service).

yesterday's experience:
i went for a late lunch - by myself - and i was in a hurry.

slow, indifferent service took their time seating the couple in line in front of me. then went away to fetch that couple's drinks. when she finally came back, i told her wanted a table with light so i could read (they had already dimmed the lights to the dark supper service lighting). waitress asked what i wanted to drink and i told her "nothing" and she heeled around before she could hear me say "but i am ready to order." she stood by thesaladstation and left me there for about 10 minutes while she brought the next table's check, took their to-go order and disappeared into the kitchen. she brought that table's credit card back along with their to-go, all boxed up. and then disappeared behind thesaladstation again. finally, i started gathering up my paper to leave when she came back.

"ready to order?"

"i was ready 15 minutes ago. i've changed my mind." again, she heeled away without so much as a "is there anything i can do?"

as i turned to the door, i got a haughty "whatever!" from over my shoulder.

horrible italian restuarant. ate here on august 27 2012 and i read some mixed reviews. they likes and dislikes were evenly split. but, i am here to tell anyone who is tinking of eating here, do not. ordered the recommended chicken marsala and it came with their garlic balls(bread) andsaladwith house vinagrette.
the garlic bread was decent, but thesaladtasted as if the chefs(all mexican by the way) dumped thesaladout of a bag ofsaladyou by at the grocer. the vinagrette was good, but the tomatos were old and had an after taste. the chicken marsala came out in record time(hardly 5 mins), it might be because there were only 5 tables sitting, but the way it tasted was that it was reheated in a microwave. the pasta and mushrooms were pipping hot, yet the chicken was warm. there was absolutely no season on the dish and it was as bland as could be.
this would be fine for a cheap restuarant, but these idiots think their food is worth $17 per plate of the dish i ordered. but, i would not pay more than $5.00.

the decor and cleanliness of this place should also be a warning to leave. when you first walk in you a in a dark cave with an extremely narrow entry. once seated, you will see why it so dark. its that dark(at5pm) because its an attempt to hide the filth. dust and cobwebs on the ceiling and lights are just 2 of the things you will notice right off.

luckily, i did not get ill after eating here. but my recommendation is to stay far far away from this place. food is overpriced, bland, poorly cooked, and just plain bad. my waitress was the only thing there that was exceptional.

incredible. i must say, as a second generation italian american, i had almost become bored with italian food i am sad to admit. i am always requested to make one of my specialties, too few "italian" restaurants are worth their salt ...

my trip here really made me remember what i love about my heritage, and what is great about italian food. thesaladwith house dressing was very nice, i loved the dressing. i ordered the eggplant parmesean, and it was perfectly cooked, the red sauce was incredible. the pasta perfectly al dente.

this wasn't the best italian meal i have ever had, no. but it was very, very good and brightened up a very tough day for me. next time i'm in town i'm definately going to be back here.

excellent spot for classic italian dining. crisp dinnersaladwith deliciously simple homemade italian dressing. lite garlic bread knots are yummy. i ordered penne pasta with marinara sauce and italian sausage and peppers. it was large enough to eat just half, but of course i finished it. santa christina 2008 chianti superiore went well with the pasta. service was very good and the owner came by the table for a chat. music was puccini, sinatra, etc. definitely stepdad when i come back to dallas area.

how'd i miss this place!?. a few years ago, my office was a few miles up main street, but unfortunately i never made it to saviano's until last night.

was greeted at the door by jack (before he even knew we were sitting with some of his friends) and we then joined the large birthday party in progress.

we started with a nice housesaladthe comes with your entree. i was pleasantly surprised not to get a warm bowl of pale iceberg and one chunk of tomato. instead we got nicely chilled salad, with a mix of lettuce, lots of veggies, and some tasty dressing.

based on other reviews, i had resolved to get the famous penne ala vodka. however, the person sitting next to me recommended i try the penne supreme (which is p-ala-v, but with chicken and jalapenos). being a sucker for chiles of any kind, i obliged (along with about half the table). i was not disappointed. the sauce was fantastic and the noodles and chicken cooked to perfection. yes, i used the complimentary garlic knots to soak up the leftovers. i was actually tempted to order the sauce to go by the gallon :)

my wife had the capellini capri. she seemed enthusiastic about it, but after tasting the penne, i think she was definitely eyeing my dish ;)

i also heard folks saying positive things about the pizza.

as previously recommended by others, i enjoyed a nice lemoncello as well. a good way to finish a sufficiently decadent meal :)

if i'm in the area, i'd definitely stop by again. that vodka sauce will be calling my name.

italian-american delight. if you are from back east then you are familar with local italian fare. this is what italian american cuisine is and should be. it is not classical italian food; it is food that has been distilled the cooking of what immigrants brought to this country and adapted. good food, freshly prepared. it is not as americanized as an olive garden. it is it's own brand ot i-a cuisine. garlic knots a treat.saladwas better when they used balsalmic vinegar instead the cheaper red wine vinegar that they now use. (salad included with meals). eggplant parmigana is great, tasty and bright. specials are worthwhile. ala vodka pasta is fine. in short, it delivers an exceptioanl product.
