love, love, love. if you are in montreal and haven't visited this spot, you need to go today for lunch or dinner....or both!! we visited for lunch and made sure we made the most of it. we went for the papaya salad, pork bun, chicken satay and the kee goreng which is a noodle dish. it was superbly amazing. even though i am not a big pork bun fan ( i know what's wrong with me right?) i really enjoyed this one. i advocated for the papaya salad as when they are right, with the sweet, sour flavours together..mmmmm, so good. definitely a salad that pushes the salad boundaries and very bright compared to other dishes. the stays was ridiculous and it was all about the dipping sauce. it was a little dense but who cares un was un fricking amaze balls tasty. and the noodles. i love me a good stir fry noodle dish. not too heavy but perfect compliment to everyone else. unfortunately, the 2 guys next to us didn't get served and left, it's unfortunate as it was a great meal. perhaps we all came in at the same time and the restaurant got totally slammed but you shouldn't miss clientele as a server. that wouldn't deter us from going back but perhaps mgmt reads this so that they are aware....the guys seemed busy. all that to say we we love this spot. nice to have asian without it being totally deep fried and laden in sauces. well done satay brothers!

what a hit! alex and phil h.... what a hit!
alex and phil have outdone themselves and surpassed all expectations. great ambiance, amazing food, unpretentious atmosphere, what more can one ask for? not to be missed. after 4 years at the market the st-henri residents can now delight in counting on great food, fantastic service from a friendly group who enjoy what they do at their new notre dame spot.

satay brothers specializes in singaporean cuisine - a cuisine with over 50 national dishes representing the ethnic diversity of this country. with that many dishes, food is central to their culture. you can find a foretaste of these dishes here at satay brothers. during summertime, it has a food stand located at the atwater market, which stays true to the concept of a hawker centre. during the cold seasons, they have a small unmarked restaurant located on rue saint-jacques. satay, a staple among hawkers in singapore, consists of cubed meats that is marinated, skewered and then grilled. this is served with a gingery peanut butter sauce and freshly cut cucumber. the pork skewers were tender and juicy with a perfectly sweetened glaze. the grilled flavour was quite pleasant and noticeable. the green papaya salad is a nice refreshing appetizer to start off the meal and to get your palate started - crisp, tangy, nice crunch from the toasted peanuts with the right amount of acidity to bring t

this is hands down by far the best and my favourite restaurant to share a meal with friends and lovers and even famil, though mine are all in bc ! i am an ex-chef in a wheelchair and i have been going to eat at satay brothers since it had an outdoor stall in behind atwater public market. the restaurant on notre dam is ever so accomanating to me in helping me to get my electric wheelchair into the restaurant which is no mean feat !

whether it is the most popular restaurants stall in the atwater public market for lunchtime or whether it is the restaurant on notre dam street right next to jean coutu pharmacy for lunch or dinner the eats offered by the satay brothers is always the treat that we all deserve more often than not
! i have alway been overly pleased with all of the menu items at the restaurant or the daily fresh menu offered at the market, i would actually go one step further in that this recreation of singapore street food with the accompanying heat in spicyness should the diner require it to be authentic singaporean mana street creations that keep me coming back for more ! for my dollar this is in my top 10 restaurants in the province of quebec and more officially in the top 100 restaurants in all of canada a spot that the staff and management deserves whole heartedly !!!

do yourselves a huge favour and go to satay brothers whether in the atwater public market, the restaurant on notre dam or now even in the new mcgill hospital centre ! go and brave the weather or the lineups that do happen with the best that montréal restaurants have to offer. you will not regret your choice even after a wait !!!

fantastic place. first time here, staff knows their stuff, we were seated pretty quickly but it gets busy fast. the salads are big and (apparently) delicious, but the laksa was absolutely the highlight for me. coconut milk and chicken soup, with a little kick, and a bowlful of yummy goodness. it's quite filling, so just the laksa might be enough, depending on your belly. speaking of bellies - the pork belly buns were very good, but i kinda expected the meat to be a little more juicy - it was on the dry side. it's a small bun. overall, great experience. price: slightly on the high side for some things, but more or less reasonable.

this is truly the gem of the st. henri area - the food and cocktails are amazing - definitely makes one want to return again and again. the staff are really friendly and the decor is kitschy in a charming way. the music is a bit loud but the song selection is on point.

i definitely loved this place! i went during summer to atwater market with a friend and we tried laksa lemak (a soup) which was delicious and spicy enough to enjoy. it's a popular place so we had to wait for 20 min to order but the day was nice so it wasn't such a big deal. i really recommend this place!

i think one of the things that makes satay brothers so good is that malaysian food is something you've probably never had before them, and you suddenly realised that it's crazy you've gone all this time without trying it. their pork buns are delicious, and their seafood platters are great as well. nice to huddle down at atwater market in summer for a bite.

amazing buns. laksa was delicious. i like sour, but the green papaya salad had a bit too much lime and not enough tamarind for me. overall definitely not a disappointment, having been to malaysia and often eating malaysian food when i can find it. try it.

last week, i partied way too hard. like, way. ugh. i remember tequila shots. and more tequila shots. it wasn't pretty. this level of drunkeredness (yes, this is an awesome made up word) only meant one thing: a huge hangover. no amount of water or tylenol would fix what was to become the winner of all hangovers: a two-day one. ugh. i needed food. good food on the cheap side. as i've said before, it seems like most of the restaurants in the south-west are closed on sunday so lea and i had to try to find la perle rare as we say in french. loosely translated, a gem, nay, the holy grail! the winner of this lengthy search was none other than satay brothers.
