one of the best meals i have ever eaten. the first time i went tosargassowas chance. the meal and service were absolutely wonderful--one of the best meals i have ever eaten. the second time i went tosargassowas by choice and i took my very well traveled sisters with me. all of our meals were delightful. my most traveled sister said that it compared very favorably to other restaurants in much larger towns. it is truly a dining experience!

one of the best places in morgantown! do not miss it!!.sargassois one of my favorite restaurants in morgantown! i would always highly recommend it as the food is consistently delicious and worth the price! we also recently held our wedding rehearsal dinner at sargasso, with the assistance of jeremy (a manager). the event went perfectly! without us asking, our room for the event was upgraded. classy menus were printed up, and the service was meticulous throughout the planning of the event and the actual event. the food, as always, was incredible. many guests commented on how perfect the perfect salmon was. thank you to jeremy andsargassofor such a wonderful night and for being part of our big weekend. you have a great chef, manager, and great servers!

i would recommend the salmon, the filet mignon, the amazing cheesecake (with a great story!), and that's just for starters! i eat atsargassoevery time i'm in morgantown.

outstanding food, service, and atmosphere.sargassois definitely one of the best (and perhaps the most adventureous) restaurants in morgantown. the entrees are well thoughtout, ambitious, and favorful. try the fresh fish special or perhaps the soup of the day. the many salad choices are unusual, even unique at times. deserts are excellent. the atmosphere is elegant but comfortable. service is friendly and professional. the wine list is extensive and includes many well-priced choices. give it a try if you haven't already done so.

4th time -- still perfect.sargassois consistently delicious. long story short -- we had reservations but our table wasn't ready. the manager brought us some calamari (free) to snack on while we waited. i'm not a calamari fan....but this was delicious. our meals were perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. the bread basket comes with soft pretzels in it. yum! my only nitpick is that the online menu wasn't up to date. i really wanted a steak that night. but they were using the new menu, which only offered filet with crab cake (my wife ordered this -- it was awesome).

still #1.sargassoremains the best fine dining restaurant in morgantown. we joined friends this past weekend and had a great time. chef clearly understands the products he's working with. my pork tenderloin was surrounded by a rich demiglace, in and of itself is pretty standard fare. but, it was topped with a dried fruit culis that had a hit of vinegar to it, making it seem like a gastrique. seriously folks, good stuff.

reliably good. my most recent trip tosargassoconfirmed to me that it remains my first choice for fine dining in morgantown. i've not been disappointed in six or more visits. however, my most recent visit left a couple of things to be desired. first, the wait staff knows nothing about the bar. they won't be able to tell you what they have or be able to recommend substitutes for the things you want. someone needs to do some training.

the cuisine was well done as always. one note on the braised ribs...though escoffier might frown, braised meats shouldn't be removed from the braising liquid, even at service. they dry out and mine did. the sauce/braising liquid at the perimeter was little comfort.

don't let my nitpicking dissuade you.sargassois as solid a dining experience you'll find in morgantown

a favorite. i have frequented and recommendedsargassosince its opening. the place for a business lunch.however, it is beginning to show its wear and tear on fixtures and the bathroom. during a recent lunch with a business group from out of town, the wait staff put a very dirty, greasy, and smudged up tea presentation box directly on the table. i was dissapointed with the lack of effort on the part of the staff to open the box and present the selections. while i hate to be sexist it was the first time i had a female wait person in this resteraunt.
also, the bathroom air vents need to be cleaned!

hit the spot for lunch. my husband and i usually head tosargassowhen we have an occasional date night, but we had an unexpected lunch date yesterday and decided to try our favorite place while the sun was up. yum. i had a bowl of tomato soup and a turkey sandwich with a nice cold glass of sauvignon blanc. the soup was exquisite. warm, thick, with a lovely soft tomato at the bottom. the sandwich was just a sandwich, but it was exactly what i wanted without any fussiness, so it was perfect. my husband ordered a blue moon with an orange and a hamburger with fries. he said it was perfect and we remarked on how delightful it is to order something standard and have it be good. that's what is best about sargasso...everything is a delight. and the ladies lunching with their friends and their furs provided the right amount of entertainment. such a treat.

gone down hill...what happened. my last three meals have been disappointing. assumed first time was just a bad night, second time maybe just another bad night. waited a few months and tried again. not so good. have always been a big fan..in fact, my favorite place in morgantown for a few years. but, lately, something seems different. food is not same quality..and wow..last meal, so salty i couldn't eat it. i travel a lot, eat at places across the us, and prefer to praise rather than critique. i hopesargassocomes back.

a nice addition to mo-town.sargassodoes many things very well. and just doing one thing well is difficult. the menu is inventive, the preparation is solid, the staff is helpful, and the restaurant itself is comfortable. there were a few problems we noticed, but nothing even close to problems that would keep us from going back very soon.

our table went through the maine lobster spring rolls, angliotti, and fried oysters for apps along with a peppercorn romaine salad. there were empty plates all around but we did notice the spring rolls had been left in the oil too long and were on the edge of burnt on the ends. the massive oysters were milky, meaty, and mild with light batter. the dish really was best when you got a bite of oyster, parmesan, and romaine together. the angliotti with candied leek sauce were everything you hope when ordering pockets of pasta stuffed with mashed potatoes. the dressing on the peppercorn romaine salad was nicely spicy and creamy.

for entrees, we did the table dance to ensure there were no repeats. while it's on the menu...get the pork chop stuffed with stilton, currants, and pistachios. really, just go order it now. veal marsala with fontina & sun-dried tomato ravioli was good, with a slight heavy hand on the salt. ahi tuna was fresh, ordered rare, and prepared as ordered. subbing broccoli rabe for the beans it came with was no problem and kept the sister-geek happy.

desserts were quality as well. peach upside-down cake with ginger ice cream, a classic vanilla creme brulee, and a mini chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. the ginger was just a tocuh granulated in the ice cream, but the cake was so moist it wasn't a bother. empty plates at the end of the meal and happy moans of full bellies.
