excellent food and service. this is a greatplacefor that special night out or entertaining for business. the menu changes seasonally, and for a small menu, really covers a good variety so that you're sure to find something you'll like. everything is exceptionally prepared and presented, and quite simply delicious! basically, they focus on doing a few things very well. portions are generous, so even though prices are high, you will feel you got your money's worth. the atmosphere is elegant, but not pretentious, and staff are well trained and attentive without being intrusive. you can ask questions about the food or wines and get a reliable answer.

best "fine dining" in morgantown. probably the best "fine dining" experience available in morgantown. i've taken more than a few people here and have never left dissatisfied with the food or the service. it is located in kind of an oddplace(near the waterfront), but it's not too hard to find.

a favorite. i have frequented and recommended sargasso since its opening. theplacefor a business lunch.however, it is beginning to show its wear and tear on fixtures and the bathroom. during a recent lunch with a business group from out of town, the wait staff put a very dirty, greasy, and smudged up tea presentation box directly on the table. i was dissapointed with the lack of effort on the part of the staff to open the box and present the selections. while i hate to be sexist it was the first time i had a female wait person in this resteraunt.
also, the bathroom air vents need to be cleaned!

hit the spot for lunch. my husband and i usually head to sargasso when we have an occasional date night, but we had an unexpected lunch date yesterday and decided to try our favoriteplacewhile the sun was up. yum. i had a bowl of tomato soup and a turkey sandwich with a nice cold glass of sauvignon blanc. the soup was exquisite. warm, thick, with a lovely soft tomato at the bottom. the sandwich was just a sandwich, but it was exactly what i wanted without any fussiness, so it was perfect. my husband ordered a blue moon with an orange and a hamburger with fries. he said it was perfect and we remarked on how delightful it is to order something standard and have it be good. that's what is best about sargasso...everything is a delight. and the ladies lunching with their friends and their furs provided the right amount of entertainment. such a treat.

gone down hill...what happened. my last three meals have been disappointing. assumed first time was just a bad night, second time maybe just another bad night. waited a few months and tried again. not so good. have always been a big fan..in fact, my favoriteplacein morgantown for a few years. but, lately, something seems different. food is not same quality..and wow..last meal, so salty i couldn't eat it. i travel a lot, eat at places across the us, and prefer to praise rather than critique. i hope sargasso comes back.

great food, great service. thisplaceis sooo expensive, but it's also really delicious. while they didn't have that many vegetarian items on the menu, the staff said that they would make my friend a surprise vegetarian dish if she told them a few things that she liked, and it ended up being really good. highly recommended, if you have the means!!

four star food three star service. best fine dining restaurant in morgantown. been to them all multiple times, there isn't even a close second. food has always been four mobil star. service consistently three. been there six times, had multiple courses each time, only ever had one dish that was short. portions are as they should be. wine list is three star maybe, but has some winners, clarendon hills grenache for 60 last i was there, which is nice. as mobil and aaa are service awards, thisplaceis 3 and 3, food and ambiance is worthy of four if basic service fundamentals were squared away.

impressive. nice atmoshpere, service staff not polished but nice. food and menu are top notch with wagu beef and karabuta pork on menu its a tell tale sign that thisplaceis a notch above any otherplacein morgantown. the food was nicely prepared, interesting, and balanced. very nice job

ok food, but very pricey. i went here with a friend who is quite enamored with sargasso.

i can't say i was very impressed. the menu was quite expensive (for a dinner and dessert, no drinks, my bill came to about $60). the food was decent, but hardly exceptional. the portions weren't too big; i was still hungry when i was done.

if you've got money to burn or fancy clients to take out, i suppose this would be a decentplaceto go. i just think that there are a lot better priced and better tasting options available in town.

amazing!. why is this restaurant in morgantown wv? been there 4 times while on business and don't bother going to one of the "fine dining" places in basements. the food is remarkable, the interior decor is as good as any you will see. five different areas and all are stylish. not too mant professional servers but all are well trained. only complaint i had about theplacewas fixed last week when they apparently have added a smokin' hot hostess and cute bartender. almost makes me want to go to morgantown.
