casual dining yet classy dining. out of all the many unique dining experiences to choose from in "the palm springs" of washington also known as yakima, mike bastinelli's russillo's pizza and gelato is a quite the hit! on a scale from 1 to 10 i give it an 11.
*first impression
its outdoor décor is especially welcoming and pleasing to the eye. its authentic re-creation of a little italy enchantingly invites people of all ages and any occasion. whether you are young or elderly, celebrating your birthday, anniversary or simply gathering with family or friends, the character and charm of the restaurant has the potential to settle in the heart of any occasion.
*overall setup
every table is dressed with simple class. a checkered pattern cloth covering the surface, and to top it off, each table is complimented with a personal candle and a vase that holds a single flower. there is an open-ness to the overall environment. not only does it give an exceptional dining experience, the kitchen is open to its customers, in fact one of the dining tables neighbors the counter where they build their gourmet pizzas from scratch.
the restaurant also satisfies a summer mood, the same mannered tables are set up outside so when summer comes along, you have a choice to dine and bask in the beautiful sunshine or stay indoors and cool down in serene shade.
*food/prices
its satisfaction doesn't end there. thefoodis the key to every customer's stomach. its delectable menu is the heart of the restaurant. they have a wild selection of extravagant well-dressed salads, heavily and stomach fulfilling stacked sandwiches and wraps, creative, personally hand-tossed and carefully topped gourmet pizzas, and perfectly priced personally customized pastas! then to complete your meal you are more than welcomed to devour their homemade gelato ice cream with 10 choices that you can mix and match. you will pay no more than 15 dollars for an entrée unless it's a shared pizza, the price is reasonable matched up against its portion and the quality of its preparation, well worth it.
my visit there, i chose to customize and put together a pasta combination. i chose for the first time to put together cheese ravioli with their alfredo sauce. never thought to combine the two, yet their creamy blend of garlic, immersed with its italian seasoning and cheeses convinced me to appoint another promised visit to russillo's the next time i'm in town. i spent no more than $20 there, and i had cheesy bread appetizer, my customized pasta and a sensational combination of 2 kinds of gelato, sweet cherry amaretto and astronomical almond.
*service
their service was like the cherry on top of the treat. because of its popularity, the restaurant when packed with hungry customers, their servers, hosts and the owner himself maintains a genuine fine composure. no matter how large the party they make sure your dining experience is superb.
*conclusion/personal story
i came with the volleyball team that i coach, a group of adolescent 13 year olds. we came into russillo's basically almost booked and full. with a doubtful look, one of the servers almost turned us away and told us we had to have made reservations with a party more than 6. but the owner himself, mike bastinelli, pulled loose chairs and brought them to the front tables where the entrance was of the restaurant. he told us there is surely enough room for the thirteen of us. i had to thank him for his accommodation for a tough group. a group of young teenage girls and thirteen of them!? mike even took the time to personally shake my hand and engage in conversation with me and wish us luck at our competition there in yakima.
mike bastinelli's russillo's pizza and gelato is an unforgettable experience. from the appearance to the qualityfoodand its varieties and its heart-warming hospitality. i have never felt so welcomed to an unfamiliar city; i would give a rating of 5 stars for being almost a home away from home in a sense. a very authentic and genuine dining experience which may be very rare to find elsewhere.
