great sushi terrible service. the sushi here is fantastic. the derby roll in particular is delicious. we had terrible service. the bartender was our waiter and he spent a lot of time chatting with a couple girls at the bar while we waited and waited for our drinks. we also waited way too long (around ten minutes after we put our card in the folder) to pay our bill while he and
another employee talked to one
another. very annoying. hopefully, roppongi will work out theserviceissues because the food is excellent.

great sushi. i have been several times but have ordered only sushi and appetizers. the sushi has been excellent every time. in fact, it's probably my favorite sushi in town.servicehas been good in my experience too. the atmosphere is fine but nothing really unique. the seating floor plan is rather open with the hibachi tables in the center and the regular seating around the sides. there are no booths, and if you are seated at a table that shares the bench along the wall, you could be almost elbow-to-elbow with another party, just in case you like to have privacy when dining. the bar is operational now.

recommended dishes (sushi): red bull roll, 007 roll, derby roll.

mixed. the food was delicious --- one member of our party said it was the best sushi in evansville --- and theservicewas excellent. but, another member of our party got stomach cramps within two hours of dining there. the additional downsides are the prices --- too pricey for what you get and on plastic dinnerware and without much of anything in the way of atmospherics or decoration --- and the lack of properly dressed customers considering the high prices. it's best, we thought, to get a private table rather than sit around an hibachi table because then you are not seated immediately next to others who might well ruin your dining experience with their appearance, behavior, language, or all three. if management wants to maintain current price levels, they would be wise to implement a dress code --- the better restaurants do so and it need not be at the level of coat and tie. porcelain dinnerware would be a welcome improvement too.

great sushi, service so-so. sushi was wonderful and waitstaff was attentive, up until we went to pay our bill. server mentioned buy one get one half off on appetizers so we ordered two appetizers, received the bill and it was not correct, she went to correct the bill and still brought back the same bill after having run our credit card. offered drink refill but never got it. would love to return for the food but theserviceneeds to be upgraded. spent over $80 for 2 people dining and the food was well worth it but theservicewas still lacking.

mediocre, not my favorite for sushi or hibachi. roppongi was not bad but not great either. first, i had expected the interior of the restaurant to be a lot nicer judging from the exterior. in terms of atmosphere, roppongi was fine but if you sat in a booth, the tables and booths were kind of cheap looking while nagasaki really has a nice decor with the pond and bridges and fish tanks.

i ordered the bento box for $24 and my husband ordered the chicken bolgogi. they first brought out salads and soup. both were fine, but i much prefer nagasaki's salad dressing and soup. then they brought a spicy tuna hand roll that came with my bento. that was probably the highlight for me. i'd never had a hand roll, and i enjoyed the spiciness.

the bento came with tempura shrimp and vegetables (sweet potato and potato) and that was pretty good. the california roll was not bad but just meh. i would say the hibachi vegetables, shrimp and beef were a little on the cool temperature side - not bad, but the beef was kind of odd. it was like they had cut a cross section through a rib, rather than serve it length-wise, so you were getting a small bone with meat around it.

my husband's chicken bolgogi was one of the menu recommended items, but it was pretty disappointing. the pieces of chicken had a really odd texture - almost looked like chicken livers to me. the sauce on the chicken and noodles was ok, but far from a favorite, and neither of us would have listed this entree as a signature dish to the restaurant.

so overall it was not a bad experience - theservicewas good, but if i want hibachi i won't come back again but will go to nagasaki or even zuki.

worth the trip. my hubby n i've had sushi in many cities. roopanji ranks as some of the best ever. try top secret, dynamite roll n playboy. we also had tempura veggies n edamame. we asked the chefs to recommend n just set us up. we also asked our waiter for suggestions. we weren't disappointed. theservicewas excellent. the food was fresh and delicious. my only suggestion is next time i'd ask them to stage the food a bit so it doesn't all come out at once but this i would consider our fault not theirs. if we lived here in evansville we'd be back weekly for sure!

excellent!. we have eaten more of our fair share of sushi at restaurants across the us, and we were pleasantly surprised with roppongi. theservicewas excellent, the food was out quickly, and the price very reasonable. my husband and i each had a seaweed salad (nothing special but delicious nonetheless) and then shared 4 rolls- 3 special rolls, and one regular. the regular roll, spicy tuna, was actually my favorite. the fish was in chunks, really allowing the fish's natural sweetness to shine through the spicy sauce. we will definitely be going back.

great sushi, uneven service. we have been here three times and each time the food has been very good. unfortunately, the service, each time, has been... weird. once it took us 30 minutes to get an order of nigiri. next time our server was very slow. most recent visit was just awkward. don't know how else to describe it.

we will be back because of the food, and we hope that theservicewill get better as this restaurant matures.

one of 3 best restaurants in evansville. best sushi in evansville by far. extensive menu of grilled at the table items as well as many items available that are prepared in kitchen and brought to the table. their hibachi sirloin is particularly good. try the 007 sushi and the spicy pork at lunch too.
theserviceis top notch from the entire staff. the green tea ice cream is an especially good desert.

half and half. i've eaten here twice now. i thought the sushi was amazing. it's full of flavor and there are some really creative choices. the hibachi, in my opinion, was just so-so. the seasonings and sauces were light on flavor. theservicewas good and our chef was entertaining and friendly. sushi? yes. hibachi? i'll go to nagasaki.

mixed feelings. the first time i went, i went alone and sat at the sushi bar to see what the chefs had to say. this time, i had unbelievable service. i sat down for 20 min and was checked on and asked about the quality more then 10 times. the sushi chefs were wonderful both at rolling sushi and at helping serve you. a++ on the first time around.

secone time, i brought a friend and sat down at the bar again. the sushi chefs were the same people and they were super nice and still as good atserviceand sushi as last time, but the foodservicewas next to non-existent. i didn't find out who was my actual server until halfway through my meal. i ended up getting my drink, just water, 10 minutes after having sat down. i turned in my sushi orders myself and ended up not getting any kitchen food because i never had more than a one word conversation with my server. tipped the sushi chefs $7, nothing for my server.

overall, the menu is wonderful and reasonably priced. the sushi is classically done and well made with a great variety of flavors and techniques. if theservicecould be consistent, this could easily be the best restaurant in town. as of now, i'm worried about even going back.
