favourite place in my life so far!!! great service with well informed waiters and food to die for. the lobster mashed potato is a must for anyone going ( and i don't even eat lobster ) the lamb cutlets were also delicious and well as the platter of desserts. well sized portions as too.

best place inwhistlerwas also a popular opinion among locals.

i had the pleasure of visiting rimrock for the first time during thewhistlerindulge dining series.

for my three-course meal, i selected the ceviche, the tuna poke and seared ahi tuna tataki, and the alaskan scallops and lobster. my dining partner selected the mussels, the sablefish, and the braised lamb shank. the ceviche was served on a nest of shredded purple cabbage with avocado, sliced radish, and corn chips. the dish components were light and not overly-acidic; the only fault was that the corn chips tasted stale. my second course was very tasty - the tuna poke was the highlight. the texture of the tuna and the sesame flavour were perfect. the sesame tuille topping also added a hint of unexpected sweetness. my partner's sablefish was served with tobiko, spinach gomae, and topped with wonton crisps. it was his favourite plate of the night. the scallops and lobster in my third course were perfectly-cooked. the lemon beurre blanc and splash of balsamic vinegar dressed the seafood well. my partner commented that his bone-in lamb shank was tender but, unfortunately, lacking in flavour. overall, the food was great and i would recommend the restaurant without hesitation.

another notable element of the experience was the service. our server had a warm, yet polished, approach - she was friendly without being too casual. quite exceptional.

as excellent as we hoped. i ate dinner here about 3 years ago with a good friend and was extremely impressed. inwhistler2 years ago with the family we tried to visit over the christmas period only to be told of a 100 booking wait list. returning towhistlerfor xmas/ny 2013/2014 this became a 'simply must do' on our list.

i mention this particularly as my review differs completely from one just posted on jan 7 - the same night we visited. with a build up to the visit like my family had had one could expect disapointment to come very easily. rim rock did not disappoint. it was simply excellent. from service, to food to wine and wine advice we could not fault the place. our starters included the local bread, the calamari, the prawn cocktail and the seared tuna. mains were rack of lamb, salmon, mixed grill and lobster.

we enjoyed everything completely. the food was of extremely high quality and well balanced with respect to flavors, textures and other foodie important parameters.

yes with cocktails, wine and after dinner drinks it wasn't a cheap night out but it was on a par with what i expected.

great place and still very, very happy to reccomend it. currently the friend that i originally dined here with and i are both sitting on 2 visits each to rim rock and i am sorely tempted to push that to 3-2 by visiting again before we leave town!

oh and 2 hours later there are no upset stomachs and 3 out of 4 of us are sound asleep! enjoy!

in the tourist trap wasteland ofwhistlerwe were really thrilled with the experience here.

the food was great. the lobster bisque had a unique light nutty flavour. the duck two ways tasted perfect. the venison was amazing. the dessert sampler for two was delish.

more than that the service was so friendly and our waitress was a real pro. great smile and she knew her wines. this place was friendly with zero pretension.

the prices aren't cheap but easily worth it for food and service that top notch.

me and my wife ate here while up atwhistlerfor skiing. we went expecting oysters. this is not an oyster bar. don't let the name fool you. what this is is an excellent upscale restaurant. i was delightful surprised by the variety of selections on the menu choosing to have the mixed grill with steak, venison and lamb chop. all cooked perfectly and very flavorful. the oyster were good too. good wine selection and good deserts. good ambience as well. if staying in the village you will need a car or to get a taxi. it's just a short drive from the village. i enjoy fine dining and this was a pleasant surprise in whistler. later found out that locals consider it to be one of the better restaurants in the area and i have no doubt that it is. not for kids, just you and the wife. yes its pricey, all fine dining is. i highly recommend it.

amazing. best restaurant i've been to in whistler. we ordered rasputin-style oysters, gorgonzola iceberg lettuce salad, lobster mashed potatoes, roasted squash risotto, and qualicum beach scallops (without bacon). the food was excellent, especially the oysters, salad, and scallops. unfortunately our server made a mistake by telling us that the mashed potatoes did not contain bacon, when in fact they did (we do not eat meat), but we didn't let that spoil the dinner.

we liked it so much that we came back again for a snack on our last day inwhistlerand had the wild mushroom salad and pappardelle pasta with prawns--also excellent.

acoustics aren't so good, so if you want quiet then go right at opening time (5:30) before most people arrive.

experiencewas so-so, didn't meet expectations. we decided to try the rimrock cafe inwhistler(by creekside) as it was recommended to me by one of my coworkers as her favourite restaurant in bc. the drinks we had were a great start - allan had some wine and i had a kiwi lime brazilian caipirinha . my drink was sooooooo good.

the appetizers were also pretty good... i had the scallop lobster capellini (very delicate... loved it), and allan had the cariboo medallions (good, but not as good as the venison at araxi).

for dinner we had the gnocchi, mushroom risotto with sablefish, and salmon stuffed with crab. i personally thought the gnocchi and the sablefish were pretty good but the mushroom risotto was terrible. very acidic and not creamy at all - more like a rice pilaf. would not order again. just terrible risotto.

allan liked his salmon but thought it was too rich and the crab overpowered the salmon. the dessert was the toffee pudding which was amazing. so basically - we would go there for drinks and dessert but probably not dinner again.
