our server was professional, knowledgeable and made the experience a memorable one before ourfoodeven arrived. the few times i’ve been able to enjoy dinner here, i have always been amazed with the outstanding service. thefoodcould speak for itself. the flavours are powerful and decadent without being overwhelming. every course is delicious and beautifully prepared.  my friends were equally impressed with all four courses. the menu has a great selection of choices that appeal to many different preferences. i have yet to be disappointed and highly doubt i ever will be. you can enjoy this special any day of the week and it runs until june 27th, so you better hurry and make reservations fast!  f

favourite place in my life so far!!! great service with well informed waiters andfoodto die for. the lobster mashed potato is a must for anyone going ( and i don't even eat lobster ) the lamb cutlets were also delicious and well as the platter of desserts. well sized portions as too.

best place in whistler was also a popular opinion among locals.

i had the pleasure of visiting rimrock for the first time during the whistler indulge dining series.

for my three-course meal, i selected the ceviche, the tuna poke and seared ahi tuna tataki, and the alaskan scallops and lobster. my dining partner selected the mussels, the sablefish, and the braised lamb shank. the ceviche was served on a nest of shredded purple cabbage with avocado, sliced radish, and corn chips. the dish components were light and not overly-acidic; the only fault was that the corn chips tasted stale. my second course was very tasty - the tuna poke was the highlight. the texture of the tuna and the sesame flavour were perfect. the sesame tuille topping also added a hint of unexpected sweetness. my partner's sablefish was served with tobiko, spinach gomae, and topped with wonton crisps. it was his favourite plate of the night. the scallops and lobster in my third course were perfectly-cooked. the lemon beurre blanc and splash of balsamic vinegar dressed the seafood well. my partner commented that his bone-in lamb shank was tender but, unfortunately, lacking in flavour. overall, thefoodwas great and i would recommend the restaurant without hesitation.

another notable element of the experience was the service. our server had a warm, yet polished, approach - she was friendly without being too casual. quite exceptional.

as excellent as we hoped. i ate dinner here about 3 years ago with a good friend and was extremely impressed. in whistler 2 years ago with the family we tried to visit over the christmas period only to be told of a 100 booking wait list. returning to whistler for xmas/ny 2013/2014 this became a 'simply must do' on our list.

i mention this particularly as my review differs completely from one just posted on jan 7 - the same night we visited. with a build up to the visit like my family had had one could expect disapointment to come very easily. rim rock did not disappoint. it was simply excellent. from service, tofoodto wine and wine advice we could not fault the place. our starters included the local bread, the calamari, the prawn cocktail and the seared tuna. mains were rack of lamb, salmon, mixed grill and lobster.

we enjoyed everything completely. thefoodwas of extremely high quality and well balanced with respect to flavors, textures and other foodie important parameters.

yes with cocktails, wine and after dinner drinks it wasn't a cheap night out but it was on a par with what i expected.

great place and still very, very happy to reccomend it. currently the friend that i originally dined here with and i are both sitting on 2 visits each to rim rock and i am sorely tempted to push that to 3-2 by visiting again before we leave town!

oh and 2 hours later there are no upset stomachs and 3 out of 4 of us are sound asleep! enjoy!

good not great. went to dinner xmas week.foodwas good-ordered the venison and filet but the meat wasn't as flavorful as those cuts should be. the service was too attentive. whenever we looked up from our table the waiter was there, and asked us several times during each course if everything was ok. it was too much, kind of felt like we were being stalked. loved the kids menu, finally something that wasn't just burgers, pizza and grilled cheese.

in the tourist trap wasteland of whistler we were really thrilled with the experience here.

thefoodwas great. the lobster bisque had a unique light nutty flavour. the duck two ways tasted perfect. the venison was amazing. the dessert sampler for two was delish.

more than that the service was so friendly and our waitress was a real pro. great smile and she knew her wines. this place was friendly with zero pretension.

the prices aren't cheap but easily worth it forfoodand service that top notch.

not what we expected, but a good experience all the same. after all the hype about rimrock, we made a booking on a saturday night. a remotely located venue is located in a quaint cottage approximately 10-15 minute drive from the main village.

the first thing that took us by surprise was that that for a restaurant that is frequently touted the 'best fine dining in whistler', was the extremely noisy 'diner style' environment. once me moved on from this, we ordered some beer and wine and settled into what was to be a very enjoyable evening of very goodfoodand attentive service. the portion sizes were smallish however the flavours and presentation were very good, not quite 'best in whistler' but well worth revisiting.

i suspect that rimrock has been a long term favourite of locals who have many fond memories of times gone by, however, in my opinion there are better dining experiences in terms of decor, foodand value to be had elsewhere in whislter. 7/10

rimrock cafe is the first of the fine dining restaurants that i am visiting for my destination whistler: five days of fine dining story. we had a reservation for 6 pm and the shuttle bus from the westin resort and spa dropped us off at the restaurant, shortly before 6 pm. in the interests of getting the most variety of taste experience we had decided in advance to focus on sharing appetizers and small plates, wherever possible. our server, venetia, who was knowledgeable, friendly an attentive without being too obtrusive, assured us that the soup and salad could be plated in two halves by the kitchen, but if it would ruin the presentation they would prefer not to. since it was only the soup that we really wanted that way, that was fine. we also asked not to have the dishes brought out all at once and venetia said she would bring them one out a time tags fine diningfoodreview rimrock cafe whistl

second try. once again, the rimrock couldn't live up to the hype. i thought maybe my first try was a fluke, so i decided to give it another go.

1. the calamari was under-seasoned.

2. the cherry sauce on the venison was overpowering.

3. the halibut was so overcooked and bland.

4. the venison on the mixed grill was the same as the venison on the mid course.

5. the cocktail menu is uninspired and cliche, not fitting for a high end restaurant.

6. the support staff was appalling. they dropped dishes off at the table without a word, and it bothers me that they wear crewneck t-shirts.

once again, overall, rimrock was more of a joke than anything else.

good dining" not "fine dining. thefoodhere is seafood and game comfort food, done well, but not spectacularly. for the price and all the hype, i was expecting something much more superior. the dishes are simple - nothing new or innovative or creative. at a renown "fine dining" restaurant, i would have expected each plate to be carefully thought out, with elements of intention. instead, i was appalled to find the same vegetable packet on every plate, whether it was meat or fish. thoughtless and lazy! this restaurant would never survive in a metropolitan city where foodies run rampant. thankfully, they're located in a ski town where the tourists often forget to pack their common sense.

amazing. best restaurant i've been to in whistler. we ordered rasputin-style oysters, gorgonzola iceberg lettuce salad, lobster mashed potatoes, roasted squash risotto, and qualicum beach scallops (without bacon). thefoodwas excellent, especially the oysters, salad, and scallops. unfortunately our server made a mistake by telling us that the mashed potatoes did not contain bacon, when in fact they did (we do not eat meat), but we didn't let that spoil the dinner.

we liked it so much that we came back again for a snack on our last day in whistler and had the wild mushroom salad and pappardelle pasta with prawns--also excellent.

acoustics aren't so good, so if you want quiet then go right at opening time (5:30) before most people arrive.

the only detraction here is the noise. if you are looking for quiet and refined dining, this is not the place for you. thefoodis outstanding and the chef goes above and beyond to accomodate special requests. we could only get a 9pm dinner reservation. too late to eat for me but not wanting to offend anyone in our group, i asked if the chef could prepare me a plate of vegetables. i have never had such s plate of splendid vegetables in my life. the plate contained a beautiful dollop of creamy butternut squash seasoned with nutmeg and allspice, grilled heirloom beets, grilled fennel, crisp green beans topped with crispy shallots, perfectly done shaved asparagus spears, baby carrots and topped off with perfectly sauteed baby spinach. i ended being the envy of my table mates and surrounding tables as well. kudos to the chef!
