9/10

1)sweet& spicy - probably not my favourite flavour because it was moresweetthan spicy but the chicken itself was extremely good

2) snow cheese - my favourite flavour

3) hot fried chicken - the chicken itself isn't spicy but the sauce next to had the heat

4) seafood soybean stew - like a normal soy bean stew but with seafood

5) seafood pancake - packed with seafood but a bit too greasy for my liking, nonetheless still delicious

6) melon bingsoo - texture of a good bingsoo but the flavour was a bit artificial and not as fresh

first time visiting red pepper in years and the place has changed so much! interior is much more aesthetic and relaxed. lots of room and good for groups. we didn't have to wait in line too long however we did go on a weekday.

the soy fried chicken was the best dish. the creamy onion chicken was a bit too heavy on the sauce and tasted like mayo, and thesweetand spicy chicken was toosweetfor my liking. i prefer boned chicken over boneless chicken because it keeps the meat juicy. the black bean noodles were very bland - the noodles didn't absorb much of the sauce. the cold noodles were great - it's hard to go wrong but it was the first time i'd ever tried green tea noodles! japchae was perfectly flavoured. will definitely come back to try more dishes.

is this really the best fried chicken in sydney? i feel like that's a pretty hard question to answer now as there are so many great korean fried chicken joints around, and it's more a question of which flavours each top tier establishment excels at. red pepper and their other icg counterparts definitely have a few varieties that they do best, and here in the sports club they also have a few other things going for them.

first off, i've had all their chicken at least a couple of times now, and i'm at a point where there are only 3 things i will order here: spring onion, incredible ganjung andsweetand spicy. for the other varieties there are better takes on them elsewhere, especially the snow cheese and classic garlic soy which are quite weak here. spring onion here is divine, sauce has good wasabi hit and overall not too heavy. it's good to order with one of the saucier ones to balance. incredible ganjung has awesome spice element from the cinnamon, and is a flavour unique to icg.sweetand spicy sauce is one of the best around, and really cant go wrong with this classic.

the club itself is hot off a recent renovation. they have their own decently sized car park, nice outdoor area and of course a bar. this means draft beer and drink variety here far exceeds any other chicken place, and they even have draft makgeolli. also present is a cafe, where you can get drinks and dessert. atmosphere here is great, as many come here in big groups. it gets very busy even on weekdays, but i find the wait for a table is usually not long. wait times for chicken however, can exceed 1 hr so make sure you ask if you don't want to wait too long.

the soy garlic fried chicken tasted old and dry, thesweetand spicy fried chicken was ok. waited around 40 mins for food to arrive. the environment is noisy during peak hour inside and out. highly overrated fried chicken. would not recommend.

+3 standard points for food
+1sweetand spicy sauce is the bomb
+1 chicken is sooo perfectly cooked
5 = top chicken.

noise level: normal.

sweet and spicy sauce leaves you smacking your lips! i think it’s better to get boneless for these types, otherwise, be prepared for super sticky fingers! super syrupy and only the tiniest bit of heat to balance out the sweetness. the chicken is so tender.

duds:
avoid the snow cheese, and garlic soy sauce. the spicy sauces are quite hot so only go there if you know you can handle it (chicken is overpowered otherwise) spring onion was kinda plain.

seating area is clean albeit a bit aged, there are a few tv screens showing sports.
washroom good.

having heard so many great reviews about red pepper for having the best korean fried chicken, i finally had a chance to try it out late last night.

we arrived around 11pm on a thursday night and we were super excited to find there was an extensive menu just for fried chicken as well as korean side meals. we settled on the garlic soy andsweetand spicy chicken only to find ourselves waiting for almost 40 minutes before our food arrived. there was probably about 4 other tables that were occupied so i didn’t understand what took so long? the people working seemed to care more about talking to each other than to clean up dirty tables and get the food served.

i did find that the garlic soy chicken needed more seasoning and sauce. however thesweetand spicy was delicious! i just wished all of the chicken was cooked well as we left some pieces due to it being dry and flavourless.

overall, the chicken was good, not amazing. it was definitely overhyped and service needs a lot of work.

popular place for group hangouts and what better way to do that than with some korean fried chicken. between the two of us, half a chicken was more than enough. thesweetand spicy flavor was moresweetthan spicy, the side of pickles helped to balance the flavours. wash it down with some cold beer or a ice cold soft drink.

always come here in stratty for korean fried chicken! tried the snow cheese, garlic soy, spicy chicken, sweetand spicy and hot and spicy. the snow cheese tastes really good, but hard to finish off cause the cheese starts to get sickening. the garlic soy andsweetand spicy are really good! this place marinates their chicken really well! its not overly saucy but just right! the hot and spicy is basically more powdered form of spicy chicken, rather than the spicy chicken is marinated. i generally prefer the spicy marinated one over the powdered ones. as sometimes the powder spices has a weird taste to it. but nonetheless, a decent place for korean fried chicken! they also sell bingsu here!

red pepper is considered one of the most popular korean fried chicken spots in strathfield and i can see why.

all their fried chicken is incredibly tender and juicy but their beef and mushroom hot pot is a disappointment.

my favourite is the snow cheese fried chicken - it is the best i have ever had! i've tried snow cheese at quite a few places but red pepper bistro undeniably makes it the best. the cheese powder is perfectly balanced with the salt and sweet, and it's cooked well with crispy skin and a tender inside.

however the spicy chilli chicken is moresweetthan chilli and special gangjung just tastes like honey.

the kimchi cheese pancake also came out soggy and not crispy as they put their cheese on top (like a pizza) and not inside.

probably one of the most popular places in strathfield, and good reason so! their fried chicken is juicy and crunchy, wide selection of flavours available.sweetand spicy ($35) and garlic soy ($34) were really tasty.

their other meals are great too. the japchae/sweet potato noodles ($14) was a standout for me - noodles were hot and perfectly cooked with a good chewiness.

was packed out on a saturday night, so would definitely recommend booking!

my craving for korean fried chicken returned last evening as i made my way to the crowded red pepper bistro for their famous fried chicken.

i ordered several variations of their fried chicken for takeaways, including the spring onion chicken, incredible gangjung and spicy garlic. first, the spring onion version was served with a special wasabi sauce though the wasabi appears limp and for the sissies. second, the mixture of cinnamon and soy sauce in the gangjung chicken was delicious and refreshing. however, the monotony of thesweetand thirst-inducing sauce might not be something suitable for every one. third, the fragrant garlic chicken was delightfully.

the fried chicken were delicious in general - crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. however, the various sauces and chicken pieces appeared separate and distinctive. in other words, the sauce and marinate were merely superficial and skin-deep. not worth the hype.

this venue was a bit hard to find as we (a group of 3) looked for it at night around 10pm. surprisingly the place was still jampacked with people (not all were here for casual dining) after 10pm and the food took a very long time (roughly 20 minutes) to arrive.
we ordered two half fried chicken dishes (snow cheese andsweetspicy) as well as potato noodles and seafood pancake. at the end of the night, we all agreed that the best part of our meal was the sauce used to dip the seafood pancake in and the radish that came with the super dry and bony fried chicken. the fried chicken we had was basically 5% meat and 95% cartilage and bones. the noodles were super glossy and the main taste was oil as it was completely drenched. the seafood pancake was at least decent and flavourful with the sauce.
we thought the state of the food was as it is since it was a late and busy night. it was also hard to get water so we kept leaving our table to go to the bar section to fetch free water in plastic cups as it took a long time for the staff to serve us water.
althought the food quality wasn't as great, we enjoyed the friendly service of the staff who we chatted to on the night. probably would only come back if there are no other places open late at night :p
