rancho alegre cuban restaurant

this was americanized cuban food.  we were disappointed!  we hoped to find some authenticfoodin savannah. if chef boy-ar-dee made cuban food, this would be it.  i continue to be disillusioned by restaurants in savannah.

this is the place to be for cinco de mayo. thefoodis amazing and the atmosphere just as fun for this holiday.

iwe visited this restaurant on the day if the uefa championship finals, real madrid vs juventus. the place had the game playing on large screens and was very lively with supporters from either side.

the décor and setting is similar to any mexican taverna, yellow coloured walls adorned with pottery, chunky wooden furniture, and bar in the corner.

thefoodis delicious and very flavoursome. as soon as you land, very hot garlic bread is served with your beverages. we had mussels and calamari for appetisers. then some chicken and roasted pulled pork. all thefoodwas delicious. the sides include yuca and plantain chips.

the service is very prompt and friendly. there were two large groups of people to see the game but every table was attended to quickly. the servers also added their own panache by bringing about 6-7 plates balanced on one hand/arm.

overall we had a great time and when in savannah again we will definitely visit this place.

i went to the south side location years ago. it was an old house that had been converted into a restaurant. this location is so much better and convenient. greatfoodand they have a latin band that plays on weekends. i will be back with the wife next time in savannah.

i visited this restaurant while at savannah for a short trip with friends. we found this restaurant on yelp and thought of trying it out.

thefoodwas nice and the service was quick. i loved the sweet plantains and yellow rice.

really nice atmosphere, and live jazz. very good service, and moderate prices.foodis okay, not authentic cuban cuisine ("restaurant wouldn't last a week in miami", to quote my cuban-born mother after our meal), but says something about the vibe and service that has lasted 16 years in savannah.

we ordered from here from one of thefooddelivery services because we were wiped out from a day walking around town. thefoodwas hot, fresh and fantastic. my wife had a salad that was really good and i had a sampler plate because i couldn't decide. the portions were very generous and made great leftovers too. we'll definitely order from there again the next time we're in town.

lunch was wonderful. my wife and i went for a light lunch. no such thing as light but the service andfoodwere both excellent. we both had a tamale by i added the shredded pork and an order of yellow rice. we split the pork as well as the rice and hadfoodleft over. we will be back.

ok i guess. the ambiance was nice. they have seating around the perimeter with colored pillows along with tables, and a live band was playing. it was nice but you can't really have a conversation (a bit loud). now thefoodwas ok. it didn't have a lot of flavor as i'm use to in nyc. the beans were good but just a small portion (maybe half a measuring cups worth or a little more). the yellow rice had mixed vegetables in it- i don't know why? (kind of like chinese rice). the ropa vieja (pulled beef in creole sauce) was ok(not a lot of spectacular flavor). i also had a mojito, which i regrettably didn't enjoy- it was way too minty and strong. it came out really fast too like pre-made or something. the tres leche cake was good.

greatfoodgood atmosphere. i've dined here once and i can not wait to return. thefoodwas unbelievably tasty. however, it was extremely heavy and some of the dishes are greasy. but if in moderation, you have to try at least once!

wow wow wow!!!!! this place is amazing! small and local restaurant! thefoodis to die for! our server was awesome! oliver was his name! my husband wanted to watch the super bowl and i wanted a good dinner! we got both! we ended our meal with the best cafe con leche i've ever had! i can't wait to come back and visit this place again!

worstfoodever!! either all previous reviews are written by the owner or they just really believe this is what cubanfoodis supposed to taste like! well believe me it definitely does not! i am puerto rican/cuban and i am embarrassed and offended that this place is trying to pass this off as authentic cuban food! they may have hector or celia playing in the background but that's about as ethnic as this place gets! the yellow rice had absolutely no flavor and truly tasted like minute rice. the bistec was dry with no flavor what so ever! the pink beans just as bland! where's the sofrito? at this point i didn't even want to waste another dime by ordering a marguerita just to find out it would have tasted like water with lemon! urbanspoon reviews were definitely misleading on this one! don't waste your $$$!!!

tried the pulled pork and the skirt steak with the chime churri sauce. both had such wonderful flavor! and the fried plantains left me wanting more. very nice change to the typical southern friedfoodcommon in savannah.

best cubanfoodin savannah hands down! service is very good and the prices are right.

never had cubanfoodbefore! it was great and will hands down be going back for more!!!!
