pretty awesome place looks just like it did on triple d with guy! great food! i had a chili dog plate and it was great! also had the cheeseburger and also tried the moco loco or whatever it's called. verygoodi was impressed

had read president obama liked this place.. so that is how i first heard of it (not from here). tried it out for breakfast and wasn't bad. prettygoodfood for the price. can be busy in the morning from what i saw. will visit again.

not bad, comforting food! not super flavourful, but i can get behind a giant plate of hot food any day of the week. we got the mix plate and loco moco - both are a lot better with agooddash of hot sauce, and prices are great.

mix plate: 7.5/10
loco moco: 6.5/10

great place to try once. not to sure we will be making our way back. had the loco moco plate. it wasgoodthough nothing special overall. the green river is basically green cool-aid.

the food was underwhelming. the loco moco bowl wasgoodvalue but it lacked much flavour. the mix plate was really good. i wouldnt get the loco moco again

alooooha! i’m lucky to say that for every place that i have travelled, i have thoroughly enjoyed every single locale. every place i’ve travelled has it’s own unique charm to it, but i have to say that the islands of hawaii have a special place in my foodie heart. i’m not quite sure what it is – most people say it’s the aloha spirit, where everyone has agoodwork life balance and are generally happy, where the bounty of the earth – seafood, veggies and fruits are fresh and traditions are still very much imbued in many of the locals.

not fancy but more of the comfort food. the loco moco had the nice sunny side egg/gravy over patties and rice. cheap eat and on the go. also othergooddishes such as the bbq pork.

was a recommendation on the triple d show. a friend had also told us about this place. definitely seemed like the place to be when we arrived as the place was a full house. we ordered the mixed plate and chicken plate. overall it was ok. didn't see what the big hype was about. the mixed plate was kind of cold and dry. the chicken plate i felt was a bit bland. would i come back again? probably not.goodplace to get the bang for your buck though.

my first meal in honolulu was breakfast at the rainbow drive inn. i had the breakfast special for $5.75 which was two scoops of rice, two eggs over easy and the bbq beef. it was serve fast, hot and tasted good. i was so impressed that i went back a couple of days later to try a typical hawaiian plate lunch. i had the loco moco plate which was two scoops of rice, two hamburger patties, two eggs, brown gravy and a scoop of macaroni salad. a lot of food but sogoodi had to finish it. i will definitely return and try another basic, tasty meal at a reasonable price on my next visit to oahu!

so so. i was told it was the place to go for traditional hawaiian plates. got the loco moco and the mixed plate. the loco moco may just not be my thing, but it was bland and flavorless. the combo of items, while i know is hawaiian comfort food, just was a bit odd to me. but i thnk if i had a better one, i might like it. the mix plate wasgood- particularly the katsu chicken. location is fun too.

sorry you changed !!. lived here for 26 years and don't know what to say :( rainbows has fallen apart. the portions are small, the recipes have changed and it is just not the same. sorry to say i won't tell people about them anymore or enjoy what has been sogoodfor so long

plate lunch plate lunch plate lunch! i imagine that the neon sign would look fabulous at night, but a plate lunch is agoodway to start the morning. i love the 50s style of the place. hamburger steak smothered with gravy, 2 scoops of rice and macaroni salad. a cup of kona coffee

i love local, unique food, which the rainbow drive in has in spades. i had the locomoco; eggs over easy over hambuger patties, over rice, smothered in gravy with a sid eof macaroni salad.goodcomfort food for the locals, andgoodfor tourists to try. at least now - have another recipe in my pocket when i stare at the leftovers in my fridge!

my favorite. this place is my favorite place to go whenever i'm in hawaii. it's not too expensive and you get huge portions. really, two people could split a plate. i highly recommend the shoyu chicken when it is on special, or the rainbow mix plate. by far this is the best place in hawaii to getgoodhawaiian plate lunch!
