favourite chinese in west end!. the best menu items: curry puffs are the best i've ever had and incredibly 'melt in your mouth', peking duck pancakes - need i say more? salt and pepper quail, only $7.90 for 2 quail, the seasoning is delicious! i love the hokkien combination. and it is big enough to get some takeaway for lunch the next day. the lemongrass chilli chicken is another favourite. friends of mine also love the vermicelli salad and thericepaper rolls are delicious too, as are the san choi bow. best part? you can order from the chinese/malaysian and/or the vietnamese no matter which side you are dining on. plus, there's a bottle shop in between the restaurants (which are byo). what more could you want?

i’ve been coming to quan thanh for years and years. not sure why but i prefer the take away option with these guys. having said that every time i place an order i am told it will be ready in 15 minutes. this is never the case no matter how busy it is. it is always 20-30 minutes. this is the only negative thing i can say about quan thanh.

besides that the food is amazing, thericepaper rolls are up there with the best in brisbane. if you haven’t been to this place you are missing out!

it was our first time at quan thanh and we dined on a weekday lunch. we were greeted and seated quickly and served cold water while deciding what to order.

we decided to share a pork bbq wonton noodle soup ($14.40) and a brokenricewith combination ($16.40). food was very tasty and servings were huge! we had plenty for lunch and even had more to takeaway for dinner. fantastic value for 4 meals!

busy restaurant even on a sunday evening! the food are quite nice & i really like the flavour of the viet noodle soup n thericepaper roll with marinated beef n the viet stir fried prawn with tofu & spring onion. the service is quite bad, we understand is a busy restaurant, so we’ve asked for the food menu once we’ve got our seat but being waited for 15 mins, tried to get the waiter’s attention but nobody saw us or came to check on us. that was unpleasant

comfort food with fast service, and is kid's friendly and can byo, what's more can i ask for.

ordering the special combination beef noodle soup every time when i come here, it was a generous portion, so most of the time it just too full if we have ordered some spring rolls orricepaper rolls for entree,

love this place for its cheap, tasty food. they have two restaurants (vietnamese and chinese/malaysian) separated by a bottle-o. sit in either restaurant and you can order from any menu and they'll bring it from the corresponding kitchen. haven't been disappointed by these guys except in service from the vietnamese side. that needs some improvement, especially in attitude from some of the young men. and when you order meals for sharing and getriceseparately, they sometimes don't bring your steamedriceuntil the end despite asking for it to be brought out. so you sit there watching your meal go cold whilst you wait for the rice.
you can also book a table and if you plan on going on a friday or saturday night i recommend this. otherwise good luck with getting one and with parking.

when our brother-in-law lived just around the corner from quan thanh, we visited this place quite a bit. after all, it is byo :) after sampling a majority of the menu, it is our personal opinion the best dishes here are the classic vietnamese dishes (pho, ricepaper wraps and vermicelli salads). they’re always fresh and the portion sizes are big. as for the various meat and noodle/rice dishes, we could take them or leave them. if you’re looking for a casual place for a relaxed dinner then this place will suit you just fine.

atmosphere: 3/5
price: 2/5
food: 2/5

winter time called for soupy asian food so we thought we would give this place a try, we were confused at first as it's 2 separate restaurants but same owner so it didn't matter which one you are seated in as you can order from both menu's.

the place is casual dining, very simple layout but comfortable. service was average and food did come out a bit slower than what i'm used to at places like this.

food itself was the disappointment, thericepaper rolls were delicious however the dry combination noodle i ordered lacked severely on flavour, all i could taste was the wok flavour and oil. the pho was also lacking in flavour and their was not much meat compared to other pho restaurants we've been to. comparing the food to similar restaurants within the same price range it was a bit of a disappointment.

don't regret going as it was an experience but would have to think twice about going again.

a large group of us dined here and the staff were pretty attentive and patient. it was very noisy at the back of the restaurant because the sound was bouncing everywhere. for large group bookings, you just spend minimum $15pp (can include corkage). corkage is only $2 and includes beer and wine. i ordered a malaysian beef curry w roti which was yummy. i reckon if i order an appetizer and extraricewith it, it would be enough for two people. my husband ordered the vegetarian tofu and spring roll vermicelli salad which is massive and only got through half of it. the prices are average, not cheap, but big portions.

i remember my family and i being regularly frequenters to west end's vietnamese restaurants. and it was always between quan thanh and trang's. how amazing it was to see how everything looks so bright and different!
quan thanh has two restaurant-buildings, separated by an independent bottle shop. it was certainly bustling on a monday night.

we ordered a range of dishes incl. pho, ricepaper rolls, bun bo hue, pork laksa, com tam bi suon and morning glory.
i had thericepaper rolls and bun bo hue. both were full of flavour and satisfyingly equal in portions of carbs and protein (often at other places, i findricepaper rolls and/or noodle dishes are heaped with noodles with only a few morsels of other ingredients).

service was quick and efficient. my family and i left with content stomachs and fond memories of the delicious comfort viet food, which have not changed over the years.

i went here for dinner last night with the family and noticed that they've expanded! the restaurant is larger and according to the guy that served us, they've got a new cooker or something so the pork and chicken taste better or something... also with the expansion of the restaurant, the prices have gone up however service was noticeably better, the staff were really attentive...maybe wednesdays are a good day or it's the new quan thanh!?anyway, i ordered my usual... vermicelli salad with shredded pork -i'm addicted to this so i probably won't be changing my order here for awhile! it was delicious! i didn't even use any of the sauce that was provided until i'd finished all the meat...my partner ate the grilled chicken andricewhich he smashed, his only critique is that he wished there was more protein and less carbs (typical). and we got some steamed dimmies for our girls -no complaints there!
the food here is consistent, the prices are average -i think my salad was about $16something...maybe slightly higher than ur avg viet restaurant? enough highchairs so we've never missed out...
dodgy dunny with no change table =p hopefully that's next on the reno list!

i have eaten better pho here than some of the bowls i was dished up in vietnam, this is definitely my go to for good vietnamese in brisbane. the service isn't always great, but the food is, and the cheap prices make it a plus. whenever i crave pho, this is where i go. i would recommend the sliced rare beef noodle soup, spicy beef and pork noodle soup and thericevermicelli with fried tofu.

after reading the reviews, we decided to drop by quan thanh for our dinner. we ordered the brokenricewith combinations from the vietnamese menu, and a char kway teow from the chinese menu. not being very familiar with vietnamese cuisine other than pho, i have to admit that we are not very used to the unique taste and texture of the egg cakes and shredded pork. but serving was generous for the rice. as for the char kway teow, while we find the taste acceptable, it was too dry for our liking, which makes the noodles stick together in clumps.
