the first thing you'll notice about qt is the tacky decor. second thing will be the horrid service. here's the thing though. if you want a western meal with great service, go to hogs breath. if you want an authentic low budget asian experience with amazing food - hit up qts. if you normally stick with whats safe and find yourself perusing the chinese side of the menu, flip it, just flip it. seriously one whiff of eu de putrid bin drifting in from outside and one glace at the floors that have only vague memories of what a mop looks like and you come to realise there's nothing safe about this place anyways. so flip to the viet side of the menu cause that's really what these guys do well. the beefphotai and bun bo xao are wins everytime. best way to get on the good side of the wait staff is to bear in mind that they're overworked, underpaid and kinda dislike you just for being alive. make eye contact to remind them that both of you are human, then be friendly and respectful but quick with your order, also they're nicer to regulars. don't take the service personally. understand it's just their way. it's not fine dining, you're definitly not paying for fine dining, so roll with it. you're on thier turf and this is how service is done. make sure you book on busy nights and don't give them a hard time if your table isn't ready, just go next door and buy some wine till they can seat you. don't try to change the menu, it's not a battle worth fighting. don't be arrogant or demanding. none of this is foolproof though, you may still be treated like an aggressive cancer cell. like i said, roll with it. one sip of that tasty, tastyphoand you'll realise you're there for the food (which is usually great), not the service (which usually is not).

came here twice in two weeks. and both times ordered from the viet menu. first time i was craving some traditional pho. man the portions are worth it. huge bowl ofphoeven the regular size was too much for me. only thing i would want is the beef to be more rare. the other night i got a chicken noodle. it came with crispy fried chicken which was delicious. only down side is the places air conditioning is very weak and it would be much more enjoyable eating a bowl of hot noodles in brisbane summer with blasting ac. but overall great food in west end. some of the down side of the chinese dishes is it doesn’t include rice.

quan thanh was always packed that one time i gave up waiting on this restaurant and ate in trang.

there are so many menus to choose from and i kinda got confused the first time i came here since they provide chinese food as well. tried the sliced rare beef noodle soup. it was the classic beefphoflavour with savoury broth and generous portion of both noodles and beef slices. the price was also fairly decent and made me want to try other menus!

we were anticipating a nice lunch and some pastries and coffee at choquette patisserie today. walking to the store front at noon, we could see it was closed. not happy!

we make our way to quan thanh and help ourselves to a table. cold water and menus are provided promptly and we place our order. phuong tran's combinationpho($13.90) arrives steaming hot. tasting the beef broth i say it is bland. phuong says it is average compared to what is offered in inala/sunnybank and that the meat serving is small. she is still happy to rate her meal 4.0/5.0

my beef brisket and tendon claypot ($15.90) looks appetising but this is not a proper claypot meal. the cooked rice, beef and eggs are precooked and simply scooped into this cold claypot and microwaved. my meal is certainly not cooked over a stove as the claypot is barely warm. the food is palatable but i feel scammed!
rating: 3.0/5.0

the fried quail ($8.90) is so tiny and is overdone. quail prices at the saigon are $5.80 and at cam ranh $5.50! this dish is overpriced and disappointing.
rating:3.0/5.0

the vietnamese iced coffee is average at best and rates 3.5/5.0! while i was happy with the friendly service, this was a lacklustre and disappointing vietnamese meal.

i frequent this establishment often with my chinese, cambodian and korean friends who can be snobby with asian foods. they love it! you can't go past thephoor hainanese chicken. i'd also recommend the fish fillets with ginger and shallots and young coconut water as the drink. the food is cheap but flavourful and quality. it's good to order several dishes and share amongst your group. love that you can sit on either side of the restaurant and order from either menu (the chinese/malaysian kitchen is separate to the vietnamese kitchen and a liquor shop is in between both). another bonus: byo alcohol. you can make reservations which is handy if you are planning on going on a busy night. they also do takeaway.

atmosphere: 3/5
price: 2/5
food: 2/5

winter time called for soupy asian food so we thought we would give this place a try, we were confused at first as it's 2 separate restaurants but same owner so it didn't matter which one you are seated in as you can order from both menu's.

the place is casual dining, very simple layout but comfortable. service was average and food did come out a bit slower than what i'm used to at places like this.

food itself was the disappointment, the rice paper rolls were delicious however the dry combination noodle i ordered lacked severely on flavour, all i could taste was the wok flavour and oil. thephowas also lacking in flavour and their was not much meat compared to otherphorestaurants we've been to. comparing the food to similar restaurants within the same price range it was a bit of a disappointment.

don't regret going as it was an experience but would have to think twice about going again.

thephosoup defeated me! i felt as though i had to be rolled out of the joint. it was a pretty decent meal! if you are after some authentic vietnamese food then this is what you are after. i get the feel it's a family run restaurant. the menu is pretty extensive and there is something to suits every taste. tonight i went with the crispy chicken soup (i think it was number 38) and the meal was fantastic. rich and flavoursome broth soup with mouthwatering crispy chicken on the side. it was massive! if you want to wash it down with a drink there is a bottle store next door, corkage is only a couple of dollars per person. thank you for a delightful meal, i will be back!

i have eaten betterphohere than some of the bowls i was dished up in vietnam, this is definitely my go to for good vietnamese in brisbane. the service isn't always great, but the food is, and the cheap prices make it a plus. whenever i crave pho, this is where i go. i would recommend the sliced rare beef noodle soup, spicy beef and pork noodle soup and the rice vermicelli with fried tofu.

i had the special beef pho. i wasn't a 'pho' person when it comes down to viet food. but according to others reviewphois a must try here. well, it is tasty, not too heavy which is good. i like bright and light soup. better than the otherphoi have tried. but it is not enough to turns me into aphoperson. people who likephomight find this dish exciting. also have the tri bean drink in a takeaway cup. with the ice only half the cup has been filled...... not very happy about that.

it was one warm autumn’s evening we had a rather long and tiring week and decided something comforting yet nourishing was needed to revitalise us and soothe our appetites – the words vietnamesephosprang to mind and my companion wholeheartedly agreed (especially as he had been a victim of the flu) with that in mind we set off for west end. having been to trang’s we felt it was time to try the other vietnamese establishments along hardgrave road, with its bright lights and the din of bustling diners, quan thanh immediately caught our attention.

excellent food, excellent atmosphere, excellent service. went here with some friends and ordered thephowhich was fantastic (i'm still raving about it to my s.o.). the service was also very good despite being busy. our waiter non, regularly came past to check in with us and was very accommodating to my friend who's food took a bit longer to come out. will definitely be recommending to all!
