pomeroy's old brewery inn & victoria's kitchen

so good, we ate here two nights in a row on our trip to christchurch! the first night we stumbled across this place as it was literally at the end of the street we were staying on. the second night we brought our extended family back and it was just as good! we had the mussels, crackling and chicken wings the first night between two of us and the kids had the kids cheeseburger and fries. everyone was great but the mussels were out of this world, what a sauce!!! honesty best mussels ever. the second night i had to get them again but husband tried the seafood chowder. he’s had a lot of these in his life but said this was hands down the best he’s ever had. my family enjoyed their meals too, the pulled pork sandwich was huge and very tasty. i like that it’s very family friendly pub, colouring books and pens for the little ones. the waitstaffare amazing, so friendly and onto it. i wish we had somewhere like this in auckland. go here, you won’t regret, 10/10!

have been to this pub on many occasions,the place has a good vibe.
the food has been consistently good and thestaffvery professional. a good range of drinks can be had and the toilets etc are all very clean.

sensational english style pub excellent beer selection - really reminded us of being back in the uk. loved the unique selection of brews. comfy and cosy spot, super busy so grab a seat if you spot one! we had some chips with gravy and the gravy was the best we've ever tasted - ah-mazing! friendly patrons and some toys for kids which was great. somestaffwere a bit surly but didn't put us off. top spot!

we started with the pork buns. they were very tasty with plenty of kick, they weren't enclosed like i expected. for my main i had the aged steak. i know some people love having plenty of fat in and around their steak but i'm not a fan. the waitstaffappeared to be very busy. they were nice enough to put a candle on the birthday girls sticky date pudding.

if you're a beer or cider lover then you're going to really enjoy pomeroy's. they have an amazing selection of drinks on tap and they present them well making it simple to work out what styles you'll like and therefore what you should order next. they do also have a good wine list for those not partial to what's on offer via the taps! we also had the pom platter which was a surprisingly filling selection of meats, cheeses, calamari and chicken wings amongst other things. great to nibble on slowly whilst working your way through said taps!

the place itself had plenty of seating which is very cosily furnished as an old english pub. thestaffare awesome, super friendly and helpful when selecting the next amazing beer. we had a great evening/night here and were very happy we made the walk up to pomeroy's......although we did need to taxi it back to the hotel!

i had fish of the day and that was soooooo good. great place to have dinner at.staffwas awesome. i'd definitely recommend this place. i would go here again if i'm down in chch.

if you like beer, and i mean the real stuff not the slightly alcoholic brown water they serve in most pubs in nz, then pom's is the pub for you.
an excellent selection of quality brews, with monthly guest beers, good wholesome food, and thestaffare always friendly and cheerful. it is without a doubt the best hostelry in new zealand.
