pomeroy's old brewery inn & victoria's kitchen

so good, we ate here two nights in a row on our trip to christchurch! the first night we stumbled across this place as it was literally at the end of the street we were staying on. the second night we brought our extended family back and it was just as good! we had the mussels, crackling and chicken wings the first night between two of us and the kids had the kids cheeseburger and fries. everyone wasgreatbut the mussels were out of this world, what a sauce!!! honesty best mussels ever. the second night i had to get them again but husband tried the seafood chowder. he’s had a lot of these in his life but said this was hands down the best he’s ever had. my family enjoyed their meals too, the pulled pork sandwich was huge and very tasty. i like that it’s very family friendly pub, colouring books and pens for the little ones. the wait staff are amazing, so friendly and onto it. i wish we had somewhere like this in auckland. go here, you won’t regret, 10/10!

i just loved dinner at pomeroy's... so much so that has to score a 5 out of 5 (which is not something i do often)!

walking in, i thought it was going to be just another pub - a good british theme, but still just another pub. moving through to the restaurant though, the atmosphere changes. it's still "old-school" british, but more quiet and "homey" comfortable.

the service was excellent throughout the evening and the food itself (i had the lamb) was cooked to perfection, though even tastier than it looked.

and, not only is there agreatselection of local craft beers. but the wine list was surprisingly diverse, with a good selection of both nz and foreign choices - both by the bottle and by the glass.

the location is slightly out of the cbd, but definitely worth the effort it may take to visit!

pomeroy's has been bookmarked, and i will be back...

if you're a beer or cider lover then you're going to really enjoy pomeroy's. they have an amazing selection of drinks on tap and they present them well making it simple to work out what styles you'll like and therefore what you should order next. they do also have a good wine list for those not partial to what's on offer via the taps! we also had the pom platter which was a surprisingly filling selection of meats, cheeses, calamari and chicken wings amongst other things.greatto nibble on slowly whilst working your way through said taps!

the place itself had plenty of seating which is very cosily furnished as an old english pub. the staff are awesome, super friendly and helpful when selecting the next amazing beer. we had agreatevening/night here and were very happy we made the walk up to pomeroy's......although we did need to taxi it back to the hotel!

i had fish of the day and that was soooooo good.greatplace to have dinner at. staff was awesome. i'd definitely recommend this place. i would go here again if i'm down in chch.

had a pint at pomeroy's on sunday afternoon. felt like a bit of an old man pub with alternative live music of a flute, bongos and guitar.greatselection of beers, look out for the media brew which was great. nz$20 for a glass of wine and a beer. usual wooden interior.

a reallygreathistoric pub where cricket fans crowd the tables and sip craft beers. there's agreatselection of beers to choose from as well as a full bar if you're in the mood. four avenues brewing co is located behind the brewery and three of their beers are always featured in house, but there are 15 other regulars on tap for you to try. there truly is a beer for everyone here. take a peek at their menu as they have a wide variety of stand out barfood from spiced free-range chicken wings and chicken and pork terrine to jalapeno cheesedip and homemade pork crackling. there's also soup, squid and vegetarian nachos. pomeroy's often has events going on, so check out their website to make sure you don't miss out on beer tasting fun! we visited during the cricket world cup and sat amongst crazy fans at their family seating tall top tables. there were also booth options and table options, but the space is limited. there is a small pool table near the wall where you can entertain yourself if you don't understand the rules to cricket.

despite being one of the best drinking establishments in chch, they also pride themselves on their commitment to quality, healthy and fresh menus at their victoria restaurant. i recommend making a booking for this restaurant at least 48 hours in advance. there is a full lunch and dinner menu with anything from steak and venison to beer-battered fish and herb+gruyere gnocchi.

pomeroy's still is an inn with a b&b next door. visiting or just don't want to drive home? be sure to make a booking in advance to stay in their adorable cottage. this is an iconic spot in chch for everything from atmosphere to craft beers and delicious meals. stop in and check out pomeroy's today!

anniversary night -

great meal selection but for us - vegetarians a bit lacking in offerings. this is an issue for most restaurants around the world.
we had potato and leek soup - which was delicious - i didn't ask what the base stock was so it could have been chicken stock.

we both settled for the goats cheese tart with pear and walnut salad. the tart was warm and very rich. it was delicious. there were plenty of walnuts and pear on the salad.
complimented with a side of fries. filling meal as we had no room for dessert.

one of my favorite watering holes and agreatplace to meet friends. steve is an excellent host, the beers they serve are always delicious and the bar snacks are delicious - i recommend the cheese fondue. the restaurant is just what you want in a pub and the locals are friendly.
