pomeroy's old brewery inn & victoria's kitchen

brilliant atmosphere, fantastic service. food was awesome. i will recommend to my friends. ordered wakanui grain fed beef and its very soft and yummy

so good, we ate here two nights in a row on our trip to christchurch! the first night we stumbled across this place as it was literally at the end of the street we were staying on. the second night we brought our extended family back and it was just as good! we had the mussels, crackling and chicken wings the first night between two of us and the kids had the kids cheeseburger and fries. everyone was great but the mussels were out of this world, what a sauce!!! honesty best mussels ever. the second night i had to get them again but husband tried the seafood chowder. he’s had a lot of these in his life but said this was hands down the best he’s ever had. my family enjoyed their meals too, the pulled pork sandwich was huge and very tasty. i like that it’s very family friendly pub, colouring books and pens for the little ones. the wait staff are amazing, so friendly and onto it. i wish we had somewhere like this in auckland. go here, you won’t regret, 10/10!

have been to this pub on many occasions,the place has a good vibe.
the food has been consistently good and the staff very professional. a good range of drinks can be had and the toilets etc are all very clean.

sensational english style pub excellent beer selection - really reminded us of being back in the uk. loved the unique selection of brews. comfy and cosy spot, super busy so grab a seat if you spot one! we had some chips with gravy and the gravy was the best we've ever tasted - ah-mazing! friendly patrons and some toys for kids which was great. some staff were a bit surly but didn't put us off. top spot!

i used to come to pomeroys when i lived in christchurch for the sunday roast. it was always outstanding.
tonight i had the eye fillet which was one of the most delicious meals i've had for a while. steak was prefectly cooked medium rare and huge!
would recommend pomeroys to anybody looking for a very tasty meal.

went at a kindda awkward time so dint to try their full menu! just had chips and some chicken which were good! the pork ribs maybe cuz i dint like it was the nly let down!

"it's only a pub", i thought, as i walked out of the cbd and in the front door of pomeroy's, "how good can the food possibly be?" well, it was damn good. i find pub meals are usually "good" at best, and i was prepared for a reasonable meal that didn't set the world on fire. but my aged rib eye with duck fat chips, rainbow chard and cafe de paris butter was superb. the rib eye was cooked as ordered (medium) and was undoubtedly the best steak i had during my trip to nz. the duck fat chips were wonderfully crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the middle, while the jus and butter finished off the meal superbly. the chard was somewhat more bitter than i would have liked, but it's only a small gripe. the service was also spot on for this type of establishment. i'm not a huge fan of the british pub theme and i only tried one dish but, based on the quality of that dish, i would certainly eat at pomeroy's again.

food is not bad, service is good. would comeback again. this pub reminds me of a pub in england. price is average, for those that like english pub themes then this place is for you.

i just loved dinner at pomeroy's... so much so that has to score a 5 out of 5 (which is not something i do often)!

walking in, i thought it was going to be just another pub - a good british theme, but still just another pub. moving through to the restaurant though, the atmosphere changes. it's still "old-school" british, but more quiet and "homey" comfortable.

the service was excellent throughout the evening and the food itself (i had the lamb) was cooked to perfection, though even tastier than it looked.

and, not only is there a great selection of local craft beers. but the wine list was surprisingly diverse, with a good selection of both nz and foreign choices - both by the bottle and by the glass.

the location is slightly out of the cbd, but definitely worth the effort it may take to visit!

pomeroy's has been bookmarked, and i will be back...

came by on a tuesday to meet some friends and was surprised at how full it was. there were quite a few beers on offer and they give you help on selection if you want it. we found a table and then ordered some food. we did have to go up to order food but it does look like they take orders if you sit in the restaurant area.

i went with the half duck with asian slaw and it was nice. duck was nice and crispy and the slaw had a sesame and peanutty flavour. really nice meal and decent portion. prices are on the higher side of pub fare but it was also nicer than some.

with nice food and beer i now see why it was busy.

we started with the pork buns. they were very tasty with plenty of kick, they weren't enclosed like i expected. for my main i had the aged steak. i know some people love having plenty of fat in and around their steak but i'm not a fan. the wait staff appeared to be very busy. they were nice enough to put a candle on the birthday girls sticky date pudding.

if you're a beer or cider lover then you're going to really enjoy pomeroy's. they have an amazing selection of drinks on tap and they present them well making it simple to work out what styles you'll like and therefore what you should order next. they do also have a good wine list for those not partial to what's on offer via the taps! we also had the pom platter which was a surprisingly filling selection of meats, cheeses, calamari and chicken wings amongst other things. great to nibble on slowly whilst working your way through said taps!

the place itself had plenty of seating which is very cosily furnished as an old english pub. the staff are awesome, super friendly and helpful when selecting the next amazing beer. we had a great evening/night here and were very happy we made the walk up to pomeroy's......although we did need to taxi it back to the hotel!

i'm a fan! it reminds me of a few melbourne pubs around brunswick and fitzroy, with it's historic brick building and wooden interior. nice selection of craft beers. the market fish dish was delicious. nice cosy environment to enjoy food and some drinks.

the range of craft beer on tap is awesome.  download the free rdu app to score $6 bar brew beers too (pils, lager and porter.)  the chips do me in - i find the $8 ticket steep but they're always so well cooked and served with gravy! their pork crackling is my guilty secret.  love the trays of complementary bread, cheese and pickled onion that do the rounds.  this has been my friday local for a long time.

i had fish of the day and that was soooooo good. great place to have dinner at. staff was awesome. i'd definitely recommend this place. i would go here again if i'm down in chch.
