really?. pizza is good, but president did not make a call. the owner, not frank who never gets credit, said he called "his people" to set it up. good spin on marketing, but wrong information. i'm sure the president can't live without one saint louis take onchicagopizza. frank rules! i should know, i worked there.

good pizza. i'm no expert onchicagodeep dish, so i can't say if this place offers authenticchicagopies or whether the crust has the right thickness or whatever. i can, however, say that i enjoyed the pizza we got at pi. the crust was crisp and light, sauce was heavy, ingredients tasted fresh. all in all, a good pizza.
the place is split down the middle with a bar area on one side. atmosphere is nice, trendy, though i didn't find it pretentious. it was nearly full on this thursday night, but we didn't have to wait for a table.
service was fine. prices are a little more than at most pizza places.

worst experience ever. i travel 100 days per year. i eat out 200 times per year. i had my absolute worst dining experience ever at this resaurant.

i was so excited to have deep dish pizza in st. louis as i really lovechicagostyle pizza.

i was served pizza that was ice cold in the middle. it was sent back 2 times and was never fully cooked.

manager and waitress were rude and implied it was my fault my pizza was not hot!

on this third attempt to heat my pizza they said they accidentally dropped it on the floor! by now my date has finished her meal.

then they charged me full price for my meal! ( the one i did not get to eat).

the story goes on more, but suffice to say i will never ever go back to this place.

similar to picky i had to wait an hour for a table, but i expected it considering it's high praise from obama who flew the chef back tochicagoto cook him dinner. i think it was well worth the wait. this was the bestchicagodeep dish (in or out of chitown) i ever have eaten. 4 stars

came here with a friend while visiting saint louis and was not disappointed. i love new york style pizza, but i can appreciate achicagostyle pizza as well. this one was very good, not too heavy on the cheese or sauce and was surprisingly light. i hate when it's just an overload of cheese and crust, but this was perfect and everything tasted fresh.

service was excellent...i think people came to fill our water glasses like 5 times and when they dropped the check it was picked up almost immediately. they have a good selection of drinks as well, but the pizza is obviously the main attraction here. if i'm ever back in saint louis i'll definitely be getting dinner here one night.

the deep dish pizza was very good. chicagostyle but in its own and unique way. the wings were less appetizing, they are baked three times which the waiter said makes them crispy, but they weren't. wings really need to be deep fried and have a nice crispy skin to them.

yum. i love pi pizza. i keeping thinking about the delicious cornmeal crust (you can taste the cornmeal but it's not overwhelming) and sweet tomato topping. it's just so tasty. i can't wait to go back. ::drools::

i don't know what people are complaining about. go for the deep dish. that's their thing. maybe it's cool to dog on something that was lauded for a while, but i really enjoy it.

downside is the wait, which can be expected for the deep dish (i wait forever for deep dish inchicagotoo) but they're often so busy, it may take a while to get a table.

but they're always busy because their deep dish is tasty. duh.

just try it. (and if you don't eat your left overs, i will)

i really want to like this place. i lovechicagostyle deep dish pizza! i know where to go in chi-town to get the good stuff. i went to the original uno's and due's on a regular basis long before the owners sold to a franchiser. after 15 years in st. louis, nothing here compares. i make my own, but what a hassle.

pi has a wonderful friendly staff. they remind me of flower children from the 60's, and that's a compliment. the service is great, but the pizza crust is more like bread than the realchicagostuff. it seems dry. pi has a gazillion quality toppings, but does not have real italian sausage!!! there are several small shops on the hill that offer really lean italian sausage that would be perfect for deep dish pizza. please consider adding this, because deep dish pizza just has to have lots of great sausage on it.

don't get me wrong. i think you'll like pi. i just feel they need to tweak their recipe to achievechicagoclass pie. i know they can do it.

good. not great.. i am a transplanted chicagoan who loves his pizza. i tried pi for the first time this past week. i don't get the hype/buzz this place has generated (kinda like pappy's, good but not worth the attitude or line.) in all fairness i have not tried the thin crust, but that's not the feature here anyway. i love a good cornmeal crust and this one was flavorful, but tougher. possibly over mixed? had a tough time cutting it with a regular knife. the berkshire sausage on the pizza was delectable, but it was sparsely applied. that seemed to be the problem with pi's pizzas. the two pizzas we had both seemed to be short on cheese for achicagostyle deep dish. i would be interested to put a pi pizza next to a gino's east ofchicago(stylistically a close match to pi) and actually weigh the two. i would bet the ranch that pi would come up easily on the short side. i appreciate the effort of natural / organic ingredients, but if your'e going to charge such a premium price, the quality / value perception should be higher. the diced tomato topping was quite flavorful and good. i do think a little too much sauce was used (to maybe hide lack of good stuff?) the extra suce throws the balance off a bit too, making the experience a little acidic. they seem to be doing quite well, but honestly i do see a need to improve customer's value perception for long term sustainability. can't live on hype forever...

closest to chicago. great deep dish pizza... closest you can get to authenticchicagostyle. real cool and hip atmosphere. go to the one in the central west end and sit out on the patio!

i want some more!. i have to say, i really enjoyed pi. there is a lot of negative criticism lately, just scroll down and you will see, which i figured i'd comment on. if you are thinking about going to pi you should consider the following:

1.) you must love pizza, all types of pizza, and be willing to try a different take on pizza. if the only type of pizza you like is imo's (which is amazing, don't get me wrong) or little caesar's (far from amazing) then you won't enjoy pi. they do things a bit differently, which is why some people love them and some hate them.

2.) think of it as a nice dinner place, not a pizza place. yeah, it's not cheap. again, it's not a chain delivery pizza place so expecting it to cost the same is not very logical. yeah, maybe a tad over priced compared to even the other upscale pizza places in town. but it's good, so oh well.

the pizza was really good. the sauce was excellent and the cornmeal crust was a nice change. the cornmeal crust gave it a firmness that made it possible to actually pick up a slice of deep dish pizza and eat it like a pizza. much better than going at itchicagostyle with a knife and fork.

the sauce was also very good. maybe a tad bit too chunky for my taste? but the flavor was excellent. the appetizer of stuffed mushrooms was very good and i am told that all their appetizers are enjoyable.

so yes, if you love pizza you owe it to yourself to try pi at least once.

what the heck?. boy, what is all the fuss about? of all the chicago-style pizza's i've ever had, this was the worst. just not good flavor, and the crust was wayyyyyy overcooked. doesn't even begin to approach a realchicagoplace like giardano's, and is only 1/2 as good as pizzaria uno. avoid.

can't blame them for trying.. mediocre pizza, probably better than any deep dish cornmeal crust in the lou, but thats not saying much. this is after allchicagostyle pizza, in the land of thin crust.

the staff are pretentious, they might need lessons on manners. lighten up guys, its just pizza. i might actually be able to get one from lou malnotti's inchicagofaster than i picked one up at pi. waited nearly an hour for carry out from their cwe location last week.

on a brighter note, the drinks seemed to go down smoother, the longer i waited.

best pizza i've ever had.. absolutely worth the potential wait. the servers are friendly, the drinks are great, the pizza is out of this world. as good as, if not better than, mostchicagopizzerias.
