a beautiful oasis that is well stocked ifroadtripping. popping in for a quick lunch, service was efficient and organized, the staff coped well for a surprise table of 24. would recommend their coffee, pies and sweet treats as a grab-and-go alternative. burgers and salads were a popular choice, i devoured the babotie, which was tender and sweet. love the free fruit for children, there is outside seating near the play area too. huge parking area, however getting out and across the mainroadwas a challenge.

it's well worth it to take a breather at this pit-stop!
if you're on theroadand pressed for time, grab a cappuccino to go and a freshly made pie. there's a hundred other delicious snacks to choose from, but those pies. damn girl!!! any one of them is a top choice. the springbok one is particularly good.
and if you've got time for a sit down, be sure to get a cider taster. the foggy cider was my favourite.
it's perfect for families, hipsters, oumas, dogs, whoever and whatever. you keep doing you peregrine and i'll keep popping by.

we've been here twice, both times for brunch. the first time, we were heading for a weekend away in hermanus, the second time being on our was to plettenberg bay. and both times i was not disappointed with their breakfast!

"the pollinator" consists of crunchy, homemade granola with creamy yogurt, fresh fruit and a drizzle of honey. i loved it! plus it was quite a large portion, i couldn't finish it, so definitely value for money! paired with some fresh fruit juice, it's definitely a good, healthy start to the day.

"the salmon bloom" was also delicious! the croissant was fresh, the salmon fresh and well paired with scrambled eggs and cream cheese. the scramble was soft and fluffy, very lights and filling. i paired it with a sinfully delicious mocha coffee, which was rich and chocolatey, but also smooth and creamy. i don't regret it!

the other food also received good reviews - you can't go wrong ordering a good ol' farmhouse breakfast and all their egg-inclusive meals are guaranteed to be good, i'm pretty sure they use fresh farm eggs and not the artificial powder stuff so many breakfast joints are using these days.

good quality for money, a lovely pitstop on anyroadtrip, a beautiful view and an extensive farm stall to walk through afterwards and buy a snack for the road. very quick service and also very friendly and helpful. they also have specials running every day. but be warned - they don't take bookings and can get very full over weekends and holidays. however, know that it will be well worth the wait!

after a long trip up the coast, this is the one spot i was most determined to visit on our return as it had been a frequent pit stop for many many years growing up.

while the essence of the original is still there; it has now grown massively. there is a fabulous new restaurant, outdoor play area for kiddies, much more parking, outdoor shops offering locals goods, gifts & clothing, fresh juice booth, craft beer booth, snack booth all along a raised wooden deck offering relaxed seating under shady trees. there's also a small nursery.

they are well known for their pasties, pies, baked goods (their koeksusters are an absolute essential for anyroadtrip) and deli. there is also a pretty well stocked wine section. sadly, the fresh produce section is now just in the smallest area.

nevertheless, quite an exciting stop along the route. this one needs a little more time then usual to explore all it has to offer.

their strength is also their (our) weakness: the only reason we don't pull over every time we pass, is their popularity (i.e. it's slways packed with travellers stopping for a quick roadside snack).

they've recently extended the former padstal building and to add a large jungle jim play area with pies and coffee to go for those who don't want to enter the inner area where bottles of preserves, homemade loaves or sumptuous quiches lure you into loading up your basket and offloading your wallet! such wily marketers, those grabouw boere folk!

we were feeling peckish en route to onrus, so stopped for pies (and, of course, other bottled nam-nams). as if we hadn't had breakfast, or weren't planning on having lunch, these were scoffed before the payment had been made! (i know gluttony is a sin, but the flesh is so weak!)

we found the pies stuffed with filling and the spinach & feta and steak were divine, while the chicken almost had too little room left for the sauce.

next time we'll try hard to focus on the opposite side of theroadand ignore the songs of the devious tastebud sirens!
