the bestpiesi’ve ever tasted. it’s a perfect place to go to after a nice scenic ride around cape town. i loved the affectionate kitty that naps by the entrance ❤️
the staff are attentive and friendly. my first and definitely not my last visit.

a beautiful oasis that is well stocked if road tripping. popping in for a quick lunch, service was efficient and organized, the staff coped well for a surprise table of 24. would recommend their coffee, piesand sweet treats as a grab-and-go alternative. burgers and salads were a popular choice, i devoured the babotie, which was tender and sweet. love the free fruit for children, there is outside seating near the play area too. huge parking area, however getting out and across the main road was a challenge.

definitely the bestpiesever; full of meat. their carrot cupcakes are also a favourite, if freshly baked on that day- i bought one once and it had gone a bit hard as it has been standing for too long or it was left overs from the previous day. whenever passing through grabouw one can not simply pass without stopping here.

peregrine is famous amongst the cape town roadie community for their delicious, fresh and wide selection of pies, pastries, biltong, and all those other farmstall goodies. the cafe is surrounded by beautiful greenery and a great nursery, easily accessible just off the highway coming from sir lowry's pass. everyone knows this is a must stop - even if you don't need a pee-break or are desperate for food, you still need to get some snacks. try one of their game or chickenpiesand you won't be disappointed.

peregrine farmstall is a firm favourite when travelling to elgin or hermanus. we usually stop by for some padkos orpies(which are amazing btw) but this time we were recovering from a wedding and needed a real proper breakfast! it was so difficult to choose between the many options but i eventually decided on the famous eggs benedict! they definitely did not disappoint and filled the spot perfectly. might i add that their chai lattes are the best around.

there really is a reason you can never find parking here, this place is a little slice of heaven.

en-route home from hermanus we stopped to grabpiesfor supper.
lovely big store, very clean and well stocked full of baked breads and goodies.
we had a chicken and mushroom pie and a steak pie. they were out of this world!
delicious meaty fillings in both and great pastry, not too thick, just right.
prices are very reasonable and i will definitely be back.

i heard that no trip to hermanus or elgin valley was complete with stop at peregrine cafe. thepiesare freakin' amazing! we had a curried mince and a egg and bacon pie. the pasty is buttery and flakey and filling is the bomb. great country stall that has grown over the years and worth coming back again and again.

this place hits the spot in all aspects, what an amazing place.

there are tiny stores on one side and a nursery on the other end, in the middle is the restaurant and farm store with loads of delicious goodies.

been there three times during my stay in elgin valley and each time i find something even more amazing than the last. their breads are perfection and their homemadepiesare the best i have ever had!!! have one at the restaurant and take a few home, they are that good. loads of delicious baked goods such as milk tart, apple pie and pecan pies.

the wine selection at the back has all the local wines available to purchase, if you lucky there is sometimes a lady there offering wine tastings.

this place is a must.

their strength is also their (our) weakness: the only reason we don't pull over every time we pass, is their popularity (i.e. it's slways packed with travellers stopping for a quick roadside snack).

they've recently extended the former padstal building and to add a large jungle jim play area withpiesand coffee to go for those who don't want to enter the inner area where bottles of preserves, homemade loaves or sumptuous quiches lure you into loading up your basket and offloading your wallet! such wily marketers, those grabouw boere folk!

we were feeling peckish en route to onrus, so stopped forpies(and, of course, other bottled nam-nams). as if we hadn't had breakfast, or weren't planning on having lunch, these were scoffed before the payment had been made! (i know gluttony is a sin, but the flesh is so weak!)

we found thepiesstuffed with filling and the spinach & feta and steak were divine, while the chicken almost had too little room left for the sauce.

next time we'll try hard to focus on the opposite side of the road and ignore the songs of the devious tastebud sirens!
