we were looking for a place for lunch in the city where we could sit down, have quick service and good food. we found it at the sports tavern, just a block off pennsylvania ave. my husband, theburgerexpert pronounced that the southwestburgerwas excellent. the fries were fresh cut and cooked perfectly. i had the turkey avocado on berry wheat bread. very tasty with a pesto spread and it felt like i was eating healthy too. this sandwich came with home made chips, also good. we will definitely keep this place in mind next time we are in dc.

great burgers. popped in for a late lunch on my most recent trip to dc. nice little sports pub with great atmosphere and attentive servers. after checking out the menu i settled in on a burger, but which one? they have a great selection all of which start with a half-pound certified angus patty. i opted for the sunny-side-upburgerwhich is a cheeseburgerwith a fried egg on top.

theburgerwas prepared to the right temp and the combination of the melty american cheese and fried egg were perfect. theburgerwas huge and i enjoyed their home made chips with the burger.

greatburgerjoint and sports pub. would recommend.

cozy little gem. just found this little gem down on 7th and penn nw on my way to a caps game. tired of "chinatown" madness before and after every trip to the verizon. found a seat at the bar no problem (it was a tuesday afterall) had the bestburgerive ever tasted and a pitcher of beer for twenty bucks or so. watched some highlights on one of many 50" tv's (there's more tvs than tables) while offering some playoff opinions of my defensively challenged team to the rabid hockey fan who was my bartender. unfortunately he was a redwings fan. if i could sum up this bar in one word: genuine. you don't have to be trendy when you're the real deal. i only wonder if i can add on a bar stool to my season.

went with a group of friends to watch college football on saturday- i had been before last year but this time i had a much better experience. firstly they added a ton of tvs and we were actually able to sit outside to watch our game- having this extra space made it way more comfortable than last year. we had the fried mac and cheese balls (yum) and i had a sunny side upburgerwhich i would recommend to anyone! the loaded tots are also a great snack to share at the table (what could be wrong with tater tots, cheese and bacon?!?!). they have a special during games- 10 car bombs for $40... needless to say we had a good time. our waitress was attentive and we all had a good time. i definitely know where i'll be watching my team games this season!
