penfolds magill estate kitchen

the design of the restaurant is just beautiful. it is open with lots of light and allows you to enjoy the view over the vineyard and the city. the menu is modern and innovative. obviously the wine list showcasing the penfolds wines which also gives you the opportunity to consider rare vintages. the food was fantastic it was beautifully presented and flavours were amazing. the only let down was the table service. on arrival there was no warm welcome. it took a long time for the order to be taken and there were long delays in refilling wine glasses. for this level of restaurant and this price there needs to be a much better focus on customerserviceand much better attention to table service.

greatserviceand food!!! however, the food might be a bit heavy for some people for their breakfast/brunch. the heater outside was so good ahahaha

went here for brunch. lovely atmosphere, company and beautiful views sitting outside. the breakfast for two was overpriced and average which was more like tapas. smoked salmon and scrambled eggs which was bland. but the holoumi and quinoa was quite delicious. theservicewas slow possibly because we were outside.

however what bothered me the most was that they were not accommodating for pregnant women. we wanted to sub poached eggs for well cooked scrambled and they said they couldn't swap things. i felt our requests weren't difficult and it's a shame that our pregnant diner had to omit things off her plate. unfortunately the only pregnant friendly dish was unavailable that day.

breakfast was pretty average - definitely better food and value for money places around this side of town.

pretty costly but food really lovely! not easy to choose if you aren't used to more fussy food never the less beautifully presented and delicious!servicegreat. whilst wine list is limited it is well structured and think the different glasses sizes are really good if you want to try a couple of different things.

had brunch with friends - venue is great location with views over the vineyards and the city - food is good -serviceis a bit hit and miss - got our breakfast order wrong - want to go back for lunch sometime

18-01-16. the kitchen is such a great place for breakfast. the location is beautiful, over looking the vines and the city. we sat inside today as it is a particularly hot day but we could have sat outside as the area is shaded and there was a breeze.

theservicewas impeccable.

we started we lattes which were full of flavour. to eat we had a breakfast platter for two (photo added) and it was beautifully presented and full of tasty items. my favourite was the trout and a close second were the "baked beans" and chorizo. every item was great and the serving size was just right for us.

great food, great service, great location and great value.

3-10-15. just had a fabulous breakfast with friends at the kitchen. the setting is great, we sat outside (have uploaded a photo) with a nice view over the vineyard (spoiled a little by the car park) and over the city. the area is well shaded so the sun was no issue. although we did not eat inside it looked great, slightly raised so as to not have the view blocked by the diners outside.

the staff were all great but our waitress was exceptional, truly exceptional. her attention to detail and customerservicewas amongst the best i have ever had.

the food was of a high standard and very well presented. i had poached eggs (cooked beautifully) with toast and added bacon, chorizo and a hash brown. the bacon as absolutely delicious. the others had variations of the same and all had them cooked as ordered. the coffees were also well made and again they catered for each of our various requirements.

will be returning for another breakfast soon and will also look at a dinner in the not too distant future.

magill estate kitchen is the more casual sister to the magill estate restaurant. adjoining the penfolds cellar door, food offerings in the kitchen range from a quick delicious coffee and chocolate ricotta brownie (which i have been guilty of several times), breakfast, as well as lunch offerings along with penfolds wines. breakfast is busy especially on weekends, the pork head and poached egg is well balanced with an apple purée as well as a fresh apple and fennel slaw. the pork is moist and falls apart wonderfully, perfectly seasoned, and still fresh thanks to the apple. it's delicious start to the day. lunch offers an option of share plates including smaller share options and larger plates as well as daily specials. the scotch fillet and marrow from the larger options was perfectly cooked medium rare, seasoned wonderfully. the steak was the hero of the plate with the marrow and herb salad to beautifully accompany it.serviceis thoughtful without badgering, i'll surely be back!
