penfolds magill estate kitchen

great food at a high price.lunchfor four was over $250. risotto was very strong with seafood stock and one other flavour of peas, it needed more as marron is very subtle. lamb with fried broccolini was good. we also had the eel toast. wine tasting is not free, but it’s redeemable on food or wine. tawny was lovely.

here for the ultimate experience tour and stayed forlunchafter. good coffin bay oysters. not fantastic but right temperature, brine level and presentation. beef tartare was good again but not excellent. main courses were much better though. spaghetti bolognaise and angus rib eye were worth waiting for. flavorful and of the right texture, they saved the meal from being ordinary

we had a long lunch at magill estate kitchen on the recent public holiday. lovely atmosphere. we started off in the lounge area for a couple of drinks and then moved to our table. the staff were brilliant all through lunch. we slowly worked our way through most of the menu and everything was amazing. the bill, after a lot of food and a couple of bottles of wine, was extremely reasonable and we were completely satisfied with our experience.

after visited penfolds barossa, we got a chance to visit magill estate this time. we had a brief visit to the estate and cellar door, then enjoyed a lightlunchin the kitchen (please note there's a "restaurant" at the right hand side mainly for a finer dinning). the kitchen is a bit causal but still looks luxury than most of the other cellar door restaurants. we had some entree portion sharing dishes and paired with some penfolds wine in glass. sitting outdoor next to some vines. a enjoyable moment !

had brunch with friends - venue is great location with views over the vineyards and the city - food is good - service is a bit hit and miss - got our breakfast order wrong - want to go back forlunchsometime 
ambience is great with the cellar door next door

i've been here forlunchon multiple occasions. the interior decor is nice and makes for a relaxing atmosphere. their menu changes occasionally which makes dining there a nice surprise as theres always something new to try. their desserts are good too!

magill estate kitchen is the more casual sister to the magill estate restaurant. adjoining the penfolds cellar door, food offerings in the kitchen range from a quick delicious coffee and chocolate ricotta brownie (which i have been guilty of several times), breakfast, as well aslunchofferings along with penfolds wines. breakfast is busy especially on weekends, the pork head and poached egg is well balanced with an apple purée as well as a fresh apple and fennel slaw. the pork is moist and falls apart wonderfully, perfectly seasoned, and still fresh thanks to the apple. it's delicious start to the day.lunchoffers an option of share plates including smaller share options and larger plates as well as daily specials. the scotch fillet and marrow from the larger options was perfectly cooked medium rare, seasoned wonderfully. the steak was the hero of the plate with the marrow and herb salad to beautifully accompany it. service is thoughtful without badgering, i'll surely be back!
