tasty vittles!. had lunch atpegleg petes and it was super good. wife and i both had the wraps, cajun shrimp for her and southwestern grilled grouper..so good, so big and came with some great fries. the waitress was super good and kept checking on us. atmosphere was really neat and the prices were super reasonable. a sure spot to go to when you're hungry and wanting some really good food.

please do not overlook pete's!. first off let me say i have been going to pensacola beach for vacations since i was in the womb, literally! :-) we go every year! i am 30 years old and have been going here since 1991 when they opened! it was my parents fav and still my fav in escambia & santa rosa area.pegleg's grouper supreme is my husband's favorite sandwich in the world literally! all there seafood is cooked so well, flaky and flavorful! mixed grill is the best. if you prefer fried version they have that too and it's fried well, not overcooked. i love the outdoor seating and atmosphere! this is not a stuffy place :-d kids love it too! they love that their food comes in a bucket they can use as a hat lol or use for sand on the beach! you get a lot for your money here and the only downside of pete's is it seems like there is always a wait. i wish they would ditch the under "where" bar and use it for full use food service! please do not miss this one! it will become your family tradition too and if someone from peg's happens to read this! bring back the pinball machines upstairs you used to have :-d kids love those too!

peg leg pete’s is one the most popular oyster and seafood bars in pensacola beach. prior to our visit there, we’ve driven by the place many, many times and their parking lot always seemed full . . . so we figured to try to catch them at a not-too-busy time period sometime in the future. we camped at fort pickens park 6 miles west of town and decided to ride our bikes into town on a wednesday for lunch atpegleg pete’s. many others had the same idea so we had to “take a number” to wait for a table to open up. that wasn’t too long and soon we are inside being served. once inside and looking around it is apparentpegleg’s several dining areas will accommodate lots more diners than there are parking spaces. so tip for other visitors. a full parking lot does not mean long waits for a table. . . . or actually getting your meal served. this is a big place inside.

there are tons of seafood places in this area but surprisingly enough. there are not many with as good of food and service aspegleg pete's! we ate here twice while on our one week vacation. i almost never do that unless the food is outstanding. i really love the traditional jumbo gulf shrimp cocktails. you would think being on the ocean this would not be hard to find. these days its almost impossible. not only didpegleg pete's have them as a appetizer. they were very good! they do the traditional cold glass with 5 huge fresh shrimp around the rim with their spices and some of the best homemade cocktail sauce i have ever had.

the amazing food didn't stop there either. i had a very good fresh salad and a dozen of the best spicy lafitte baked oysters i have ever had. the oysters were seasoned and cooked to perfection. my wife had the king crab and unlike most places they were worthy of the name "king" crab ... they were huge and also cooked to perfection. the service was great and the place was very clean. i cant wait to visit them again the next time we are in town. i rate these guys a+++ in every category. i cant think of even one small negative remark.

first visit topegleg pete's. ordered blue crab claws for the appetizer, only to learn they didn't have any. so, i went with the gumbo as a back-up plan. it was quite good, with a really dark, flavorful roux and plenty of seafood. for my entree, i went with the snow crab legs with a side of grilled sea scallops and they were both excellent!! they were served quickly and steaming hot and were good sized. the scallops were well seasoned and prepared perfectly. for dessert, we had the key lime pie and it was also very good. overall, we had a great meal!! highly recommendpegleg pete's!!

what has to be said aboutpeglegs, other than it is the quintessential beach seafood restaurant in the area? the gumbo is always fantastic, and the po'boys are full of fresh seafood on great crispy bread. we like to stop by in the off season for a dozen or so oysters on the half-shell and some groper bites after work. if you are really hungry try the grouper supreme and you will not be let down. they have great beer on tap as well. it is one of our favorite places to go and to take guests. if you have a boat or watercraft, you can pull up and "park" on their private dock, and it is a great way to cool off mid-day, and then head out to play some more. there is great live music in the bar downstairs many nights. if you come to pensacola and you misspegleg's you did not really get to see what the natives are all about.

spinach artichoke dip.pegleg pete's makes an amazingly good spinach artichoke dip that is served piping hot and dripping with cheese. it is served with fresh tortilla chips and just enough for 2.

they offer grouper prepared several different ways but the fried is very good. the fish remains tender and flaky while the outside is crispy. it always tastes fresh.

the wait is worth it!.pegleg pete's was recommended to me by both locals and tourists. we arrived around 7:00 pm on a monday night and we were greeted warmly by the hostess. we were told it would be approximately a 30 minute wait and it was close to that. the wait was worth it! we began our meal with the best spinach artichoke dip that i have ever tasted. it was hot and cheesy and complete with grated parmesan cheese on top. i ordered the fried grouper and had a side of fries and sugar snap peas. everything was fresh and the grouper was cooked to perfection. the fish was flavorful, moist and flaked on my fork. the fries were good and the seasoning had a dash of sweetness. my dining companion ordered the stuffed grouper with garlic toast, new potatoes and seasoned rice. he enjoyed the grouper but he ordered clarified butter from the kitchen to enhance the flavor of the grilled grouper. another dining companion ordered the fried shrimp and stated it was delicious. they do have a kids menu and the food is served in a sand pail. kids meals come with fries and a drink. the cost for our meal...3 adults and one child with drinks was $85. the atmosphere is casual, busy and loud. it's not a place for a quiet conversation. the staff is friendly, efficient, attentive and accommodating. we can't wait to go back again!

great place, but often very crowded. i am local and have been coming topeglegs for over a decade. most of what they serve is very good, and not unreasonable price wise. our favorites are the fried shrimp, oysters on half shell and any of the grilled or blackened fish. also they offer a cup of chowder or a salad for an extra $1.50, and both are very good.

avoid anything with crab stuffing (not good). during the spring and summer come early (before 5:30) if you do not want to wait.

didn't find it "cheap". i'm a lifelong local but amazingly have never been topegleg pete's for anything except drinks at night. i sawpegleg pete's listed under the "cheap eats" category on urbanspoon and thought that was somewhat misleading. i would put it in the next category up. this place is a great deal for oysters, that's for sure, and has a lot of affordable options, but it is still very easy to walk out of there with a hefty bill. there are half priced wine nights, and i believe now it is .60 cent oyster nights, so call for deals.the oyster prices are pretty darn good.

the service was excellent. our server was attentive but not overly so, our food arrived incredibly quickly and we didn't wait too long.

the side salad was nothing to write home about, just your standard iceberg situation. the crab claw appetizer was drenched in butter but no real trace of garlic. they were fairly lackluster so i recommend getting fried.

the oysters were great, even for summer when they aren't at their best. i got the sampler because i'd never had their baked oysters before and couldn't decide between imperial or cajun. i was surprised to discover my favorite of the bunch ended up being buffalo! a buffalo sauce, bleu cheese and breadcrumb topped oyster seemed pretty gimmicky and silly to me, but i really have to admit that it somehow worked really well. thepegleg pete's hot sauce was awesome, it has a very interesting flavor, almost like a tiger sauce, a hint of cinnamon or nutmeg or something like that? tastes awesome on oysters!

we split some snow crab legs and i was disappointed to find they were dreadfully overcooked, maybe even re-steamed or boiled. you can sort of tell when the legs look rather translucent, they bend instead of cracking open, the meat is all bunched up into nothing and hard to remove, etc. if you want snow crab, i know the place is kitschy but i would honestly recommend crabs we got 'em. it is gulf side with a nearly unbeatable view for a pcola beach restaurant, and they mainly do crab, so they have it down. for oysters i'm going to hands down saypegleg pete's is the best place in pensacola.

despite other reviews,no one does baked oysters likepegleg's!!. i read all the reviews and can't believe how bad they are getting slammed. my wife and i have tried every restaurant's baked oysters from pensacola to jacksonville and there just isn't anyone who knows how to serve them right. i am so glad pensacola has a restaurant that knows what baked oysters are and how to make them so delicious. i actually took my daughter topegleg's last saturday, august 2nd and then my wife and i went back on monday august 4th. i just can't get enough of their delicious oysters. i will say though that i ordered a fried grouper sandwich the second time i went and it doesn't compare with sidelines fried grouper sandwich. it was just not cooked quite enough. but it wasn't bad, just not one of their better things they make. i know the grouper nuggets are awesome though. please give this place a try before believing all the bad reviews. i promise their baked oysters are number 1.

the best baked oysters on the gulf coast. everytime me and my wife go here we are never disappointed. unlike some restaurants that are good sometimes and bad sometimes, peg leg petes is always good. their oyster sampler is the one to get with flavors like:oysters parmesian, oyster rockefellor, casino oyster, and and one with picante sauce and cheese which is great and flavorable.

best baked oysters in nw fla!. i enjoy everything i have ever ordered frompegleg's,but always go back mainly for their baked oysters. no one makes them likepeglegs. they have 5 different flavors i think, but the variety plate lets you try all of them so you know which one you like best. i can make a meal of just the oysters, but their salads go great with it too!

peg legs. their baked oysters are not to be topped. i always have such a good experience here for those special or laid back occasions.

grouper to die for.peglegs is my favorite seafood restaurant. i love their broiled grouper dinner. it is as good as a steak dinner to me and that is saying a lot! the only complaint i have is that they serve their mixed drinks in small plastic cups like a cheap bar. ugh. i usually order mine in a cold mug. but other than that. the are the best in pensacola.
