we were thrilled with our food, service and overall experience at peche. our waitress heather was wonderful. she was friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the dishes and their ingredients and preparation. ask for her if you go. seafood is a favorite for both the mister and me, so we were excited to sample several wonderful dishes. we tried the smoked drum with potatoes and corn. it was wonderful. perfect for two to share. the drum had a perfect smoky flavor and it was plentiful in the dish. they smoke it there in house and feature it regularly in many of their specials. it includes a well-paired light dressing that does not diminish the other flavors as well as a delicious crunchy bread crumb topping. we also tried the smoked tuna dip. i found it to be a bit too spicy, although i know many people enjoy the heat. the tuna also has a great smoky flavor, just a bit too spicy for me. the featured seafood salad was absolutely perfect and perhaps my favorite dish. it included shrimp, tuna and avocado with an exceptional vinaigrette dressing and fresh herbs. the flavors were light and clean and tasted so perfect together. it is served with crispy, flatbread crackers that are also very good. what a perfect dish in new orleans on a hot summer day. and finally, we had the sheepshead. it's one of my favorite local fresh fishes and i knew immediately that i wanted it when i saw it on the menu. it did not disappoint! it was served with tomatoes, fresh greens, and crowder peas. it was a nice, ample portion for lunch. certainly plenty to share. the vegetables with the fish were just the right compliment. wonderfully seasoned and great flavors. the fish itself was cooked perfectly. it was moist and delicious.pechemarkets itself as a seafood grill and their skill was apparent in this dish. i also want to give a shout out to the wonderful, fresh cocktails that we enjoyed. the sandia sambia with local fresh watermelon and mint is outstanding. light and refreshing. the blue buffalo with fresh blueberries and lemon is also a great choice for bourbon lovers. thank you, peche, for a wonderful, memorable lunch. we look forward to a return visit!

a quick walk up magazine street from the convention center, both the louisiana children’s museum and national wwii museum not far away, pecheseafood grill has quickly ascended to the same lofty status as other donald link restaurants by way of the beard award for best new restaurant and best chef: south in 2014, a wednesday lunch showing the space dedicated to seasonal, costal seafood to be a bit more pricey than it could be, but still pretty great.

continuing a downtown trend to invigorate the warehouse district, chef ryan prewitt given the reins to a semi-open kitchen and raw bar overlooking worn wood tables and a room bathed in blue, those enteringpechewill quickly notice a nautical theme referenced by everything from the bar décor to the wall-art, the service loose but professional in describing a handful of daily specials atop a menu also prone to frequent change.

seated at a lengthy banquet with back to the kitchen, the bar and dining area quick to fill with a suited lunch crowd of businessmen and convention-goers, it was with an eye on variety that the decision was made to eschew large plates in favor of snacks and small plates, the first round of dark seafood gumbo alongside pepper-infused shrimp fritters each impressive in their complex interplay of textures as well as spice profiles best described as piquant or bright as opposed to ‘hot.’

a bit more hit and miss with course two, the hush puppies amongst the best ever seen with a golden crust that actually crackles overlying a soft center of cornmeal and chives without a hint of oil, the $13 trio of “crab stuffed” shrimp proved barely-so, the version at jacque-imo’s only $8.95 for nearly twice the portion of both shrimp and stuffing with a far more interesting pimento cream sauce.

already impressed by chef maggie scales desserts at cochon and cochon butcher, several similarities seen on thepechemenu, at least in terms of ingredients and concepts, salted peanut pie here was served much like the traditional pecan version over a sticky-sweet base with a topping of salted peanut ice cream and dark chocolate sauce, the steamy apple toffee cake walking a fine line of spices and sugar with a pudding-soft texture alongside a ball of tangy sour cream ice cream.

when you win two james beard awards a month prior to my visit, your restaurant is definitely going to be on my radar.pechewas named both best new restaurant of 2013 and their chef, ryan prewitt was awarded best chef: south. peche’s menu was very similar to many restaurants in chicago featuring shared “small plates” and that allowed us to try several different dishes from their seven section menu. even though our reservation was at 10:00pm the restaurant was packed solid and filled with both new orleans natives and tourists alike.

great tasting food!. we really enjoyed our trip topecheand the taste of the food was well worth it! we are glad our friends recommended the restaurant. the atmosphere is nice, but depending on the crowd, it can get a bit loud. minor detail in the whole experience. the sampler is great for 3 or 4 people and you will enjoy every bit of it.

where's the bread!. my wife and i were first timers atpechesaturday night and were not satisfied and probable won't go back. unless you are a real friendly person, the two tops along the wall are way to close for comfort. could not have a intimate conversation . the table next to ours was less than a elbow away. i had the gumbo and we shared the whole grilled flounder. it was over cooked-a little chewy or maybe not fresh.. but the chili butter sauce was very good. the problem was they offered no bread for either my gumbo or the sauce. that's a waste. overall a little pricey compared to other fine seafood restaurant's in the new orleans area.

rushed out. my wife and i had dinner atpechea couple of weeks ago for our anniversary. the dinner was great. we also ordered a bottle of wine. we finished our dinner and were finishing our last glass of wine. as soon as we paid the check, the waiter stood by our table told us have a good evening. we were not finished our last glass of wine. my wife and i were not happy about being pushed out as soon as we paid the check so that they could seat another couple! food was good but restaurant was loud. will not go back again.

disappointed. i've been hearing great things ofpecheand have been looking forward to finally experiencing it. needless to say i am let down. nothing here was bad; however, there was nothing particularly good neither. we had the following with our thoughts of each:
the smoked tuna dip - average; all we could taste was smoke and spice. there wasn't much flavor to this other than that
fish sticks - very well battered and fried; fish was amazing texture along with the batter; however, there was practically no flavor
hush puppies - good, but they're still just hush puppies
seafood gumbo - i liked it a lot but the wife not so much
corn/shrimp bisque - exact opposite, the wife liked it and i didn't
lamb skewer - clear winner of the group! was very good. tasted like a fine sausage. it just wasn't anything to make us say we are coming back or even that the food was worth the cost.

overall this isn't a bad place, but it's definitely not worth the price. if it were in the $5 app $10 entree range, we would probably go back. the problem is this is a high end restaurant with mid level food. i don't recommend it.

the emperor has no clothes.... my husband and i had been looking forward to dinner atpechefor months. we travel to new orleans once a year and spend the better part of that year reading about the newest in restaurant options while always frequenting our favorite old standbys. this year we again booked a reservation at restaurant august (our fourth outing there) and clancys in uptown to which we had never been but had long heard was a favorite among locals. but our most anticipated outing was sure to bepecheseafood grill, recently awarded the james beard for best new restaurant. not in new orleans. in america. wow. we were pleased to see the converted warehouse as we entered and intrigued by the sandblasted old brick, high ceilings and distressed wood. casual. welcoming, not stuffy. what fun for new orleans! unfortunately it was almost immediately apparent there was a problem. it is literally the loudest restaurant to which we have ever been. not loud in a fun, or familiar or spirited, energetic way. it's like having a meal next to a jet engine. the noise level makes it an almost impossible dining experience. we had hoped the food would make up for the noise. alas, that was not the case. the gumbo was solid, but we were a little disappointed that there was no sausage from sausage king donald link. that must be a recurring surprise for guests as our waiter brought it up proactively before we ordered. my husband had the crab with capellini and gulf shrimp. the shrimp were large and tasted fresh, but the capellini was overwhelmed by the starch in the noodles and very bland. i had the drum which was so spicy that the fish was completely in the background. we had been led to believe we would see fish being cooked over an open fire which was to be part of the dining experience. instead we saw dishes being handed to wait staff over a tall counter top. after an hour of trying to converse and repeating ourselves over and over, we finally gave up, decided to forego dessert which unfortunately looked to be quite good and head back to the windsor court for coffee and dessert in the lounge (where incidentally the pecan pie was very good). the meal atpechewas above average but did not stand up against either august or clancys. how disappointing. if this is the best new restaurant in america, the process must be highly politicized and celebrity chef driven rather than earned on the merits. take a pass onpecheor come with your expectations in check.

best meal. we dined at four of the top restaurants in new orleans andpechewas the best. love the rough hewn, exposed beams and overall atmosphere. we had the tuna for the appetizer -- excellent. i had delicious cobia and my husband had the tuna entree. was surprised that a restaurant called "fish" only had a couple of varieties of fish filets -- i'd rather not dig through bones for my supper. service was excellent.

over rated, although high in decibels. although it all looks good on the website, we foundpecheto be less than delicious. the whole fish did have an excellent taste. there was no bread served, the waiter impatient, probably couldn't hear us and found the portions small. didn't expect to be eating on a picnic table either. can not recommend this.

dinner was great! i try gumbo pretty much everywhere we go, andpechehas a damn good one! one of the best i've had! hush puppies and crab claws were also good appts. the drum fish with ginger and tomato was really good and my wife had the chicken diablo which was excellent. the stewed okra and tomatoes is a good side. the pineapple cake with the dulce de leche ice cream is a must! a little loud in there, but all in all, great food and service. will def be back.

first of all, the space is beautiful. there is a very large bar, and the bartenders were all very friendly when we were waiting for our table. the service was fantastic. attentive without being obtrusive. the food was outstanding, and i even though it was better than cochon (which is one of my favorite places to go)! it was my sister's birthday, and i had brought a cake with us for dessert. i had read that someone had a bad experience because they were charged a fee, however, i feel people should already be aware that a fee is normal for anyone that brings in any item to a restaurant. i was informed that it was $2.00 a person. no big deal. anyway, it was the best service/ meal i can remember having in a very long time! in my opinion, the food atpecheblows away any other seafood restaurant in the city!

another great restaurant by the donald link restaurant group has opened on the corner of magazine and julia streets in the warehouse district. this time, it is calledpecheand focuses on simple coastal seafood with a unique, modern approach. the restaurant showcases an open kitchen where diners can see the fire and seafood grilling in the back, an oyster bar serving fresh gulf seafood including oysters, crab meat, and fresh gulf fish and a large bar. the result is a very fresh seafood-oriented menu (although if you really want red meat there are a few options there as well). the decor is rustic seaside with exposed wooden beams throughout the open plan restaurant. one thing i noted while we were dining was the noise level. it was extremely loud. too loud. we had to shout to hear each other at dinner. our meal included many various dishes from the menu including oysters (both connecticut and gulf), frog legs, smoked tuna dip, shrimp toast, and tuna
