overrated. the burgers are not nearly asgoodas they were when they first opened. i don't know what happened but the beef is not good. better alternatives are: henry's, rockaway (still the best in columbia), burger tavern, backyard cafe.

stale bread, cold fries,goodservice. not anything near what you saw on tv. piss poor!

just left, the food wasgoodand there was more than enough. our waitress tookgoodcare of us. i do think they could replace the hostes with one that has a personality. i would give it 5 stars.

not what i expected. my wife and i went to pawley's this past weekend. when we got there, around 7:00, we expected to have to wait because it was beautiful outside and it was graduation weekend for the local university. we didn't mind the wait though because pawley's has a great outside bar on the deck.

upon entering the restaurant, and having to wait agood5 minutes for the hostess to greet us, the hostess was extremely rude. she acted like she could care less about the customers coming through the door. once we were greeted we took our pager and went to the bar. after about 30 minutes we noticed that there were multiple clean tables outside and a few inside that noone was seated at. i went back to the hostess to check on how much longer we had and once again she was nowhere to be found.

finally, a server saw me waiting and came to help. she was extremely friendly even though i, along with others standing at the front, were clearly irritated that noone was sitting at the many open tables. she ended up sitting most of the tables herself, still with no help from the hostess, and made sure that my wife and i were seated in a timely manner as well. the restaurant was really busy as i said before but the girl at the front was inattentive, extremely rude, and could not do her job. i made sure to mention it to my server once i was seated. she made sure that we had an enjoyable experience and apologized for the hostess. we were very happy with our waitress and the food but found it difficult to get over how we were treated to begin with.

we will not be back to pawley's for a while. and when we do go back we hope to find someone that is competent enough to seat empty tables with a smile.

i saw this place on triple d and wanted to give it a shot. not only was the the burger amazing quality and delicious there was also a great atmosphere. the beer selection wasgoodand there were plenty of unique burger combos. my only negative comment is that the sweet potato fries come with sugar and cinnamon on them. just not my style.

the burgers here are huge! not just in size either, the flavor is huge as well. i had the caw caw creek - a 8oz. behemoth with jalapeño pimento cheese and jalapeño bacon. normally i like to keep the cows separate from the pigs when i eat, but this was agoodcombination. the fries are pretty top notch too. others at my table had the wadmalaw, another pimento cheeseburger with bacon. and somebody had the sweet potato fries tossed in cinnamon sugar. very good.

from the service to the food everything was very quick. actually i was surprised the food arrived so quickly after we ordered. quick is one thing and thankfully the food was also very tasty. the salads were very large, burger was almost too big to eat and my shrimp tacos were quite good. beer selection was also varied withgoodchoices no matter what type of beer you like.

as a bonus this place is so dog friendly they bring out a bowl of water for your dog.

service was excellent,goodcame quick! food was very good, beer was ice cold! would highly recommend for a casual dining experience!

almost ruined stay in columbia. my wife and i were in town briefly to visit congaree np and decided to try pawleys for dinner on our last night. the wait was interminably long for the quality of food that we received. my wife ordered a soda and i a beer, and then the server disappeared. about twenty minutes later, as i was about to have us get up and leave, she returned stating that the particular beer that i ordered was out and that they had been looking for a new keg -- fine, but let the patron know sooner instead of keeping them waiting. i ordered a different beer, an appetizer of fried pickles, and we each ordered a burger -- my wife's well-done and mine medium. the pickles were unremarkable and came out two minutes before our burgers. really? it's supposed to be an appetizer, not a side order. my wife's burger was cooked as ordered and with her fries, her meal was, by all accounts, decent. my burger was not medium, but medium rare to rare and one bite, possibly raw. my fries were so ridiculously over-seasoned that they were inedible -- and i pride myself in having an iron stomach. the server was nowhere to be found so i could not complain and have the plate taken back -- so i plodded through the burger, leaving the fires untouched -- nor could i ask where my beer was. literally down to my final bite of burger, she finally returned with my beer. i refused it, as we were done and i was not going to spend any extra time in that place. the onlygoodthing that the server was able to do all night was that she got the manager to waive the cost of the fried pickles to make up for me not getting a beer to drink with my meal. i voiced my concerns about the poor quality of my dinner and how one bite of burger bordered on raw and was met with indifference. we left and, if ever back in the area, will never return. stay away!!

amazing! isle of palms was delicious. fries weregoodas well. we will be back for sure.

wadmalaw burger. best burger in town possibly i've ever had. don't forget the chicken finger like onion rings.

currently my #1 on the crusade. i'm currently on a crusade to find the best burger around. the wadmalaw on a pretzel bun is currently at the top of my list as the best burger in town and possibly the best i've ever had. the mesh of ingredients, juicyness of the meat, the hint of sweet from the sauce... it all comes together perfectly. i strongly suggest the onion rings even if you hate onion rings. they are almost like chicken fingers and i like chicken fingers. some of the other awesome places that i've tried so far are 2108 state street in cayce (they are 2nd on the list), 77 burger tavern, the whig, and british bulldog (tower of london burger), but in my opinion pawleys is still number one. and don't forget, half proceed burgers on tuesday at happy hour. i almost feel like a criminal after such agoodmeal for like 6 bucks.
... this is based strictly on the food. service and environment were fine to me.

unless you're comfortable in a dive, don't go.. have been twice. the atmosphere is certainly divey but the food is first class. the first time i ordered the caw caw burger substituting the chicken breast for the hamburger. the chicken breast was large and cooked to perfection, and the pimento cheese (green!) was generous and delicious. my side of onion rings were crispy and tasty. we also ordered the fried pickles which were fine. my sister raved and raved over the fish tacos, so i ordered those on the second visit. sadly, i was not impressed. the mahi mahi was generous andgoodbut the accompaniments were tasteless. the buffalo shrimp was too spicy for me, but that's a me problem. the service was just ok, nothing to write home about. we visited both times when u.s.c. was not in session and during an "off" hour, so i would be very nervous of the service at a busy time.

fun spot to eat. i heard too manygoodthings about this place so i felt obligated to give it a try.goodburgers and cold beer...nothing wrong with that! the place has a kind of beach shack vibe. very laid back and filled with college age kids. i would still feel comfortable bringing kids though. a little pricey for burgers, but considering their uniqueness and obviois high the quality of the meat it seems about right. the burgers are huge...a friend and i split one along with an appetizer and left more than satisfied. give them a try.

great place to stop on the way to the beach. high quality of the meat is readily apparent from the first bite. tastes like steak.
fresh ground on premises. higher price is indicative of attention to detail. sweet potato fries and onion rings are great. our service was verygoodon a busy day. atmosphere is typical of a college hang out, yet suitable for family. . 30 minutes out of our way. we will be back.

good burger,goodservice and verygoodcrawfish bites if that's your thing. will return.
