authentic ny pizzeria.papaangelo's, my favorite pizzeria in oklahoma.

while i'm always on the quest for great food, pizza always has a very special place in my heart.papaangelo's uses a very simple method for their business, cut the crap and just make great pizza!

these guys are from long island, so we share a similar views on pizza, and conversation. if you tellpapayou like his pizza don't be surprised if he snaps back saying "whaddo i care!?" (although he's really a sweet old man). this is the type of place where you don't just order a pie, but you get to know the family as well.

the pizza ranks about 7-7.5 out of 10. for me this is a fairly high rating, similar to what i would give most ny pizzeria's i grew up with (this is a good thing). one of the great things about papa's is you can always expect to get the same great pizza every time you come in. i've never had a pizza atpapaangelo's that didn't taste as good as the last time i visted.

this level of consistency, plus their great neighborhood location (right next to our church) allows me to have great ny pizza anytime i want. in oklahoma you can't ask for much better than that!!

i used to eat atpapaangelos, when it was in a different location, back in the late 1990's and i remember it being pretty good.  i've been planning to go back and try it again and finally made it over there today. 

my first impression of the pizza was disappointment.  the toppings were on top and it didn't appear that there was even any cheese on it at all.  when i took the first bite i decided the crust was pretty good but as i got further into the slice, disappointment set it.  

we ordered a supreme and the amount of meat and cheese on the pizza was absolutely pathetic.  it was literally like eating a pizza crust with onions, mushrooms, black olives and green peppers scattered around the center of it.  there were a few pepperoni slices around the outside edges and some hint that there might be some sauce there.  

if you like a lot of sauce on your pizza, don't bother ordering extra because they will just ignore it and basically put no sauce on there.  that, accompanied by the lack of cheese and meat made this a bland, boring and disappointing pizza.  to make it worse, the price was comparable to hideaway!   the $8 dollar large supremes i get from all american pizza were far superior to the pizza atpapaangelos. 

we also ordered garlic knots, which i remembered being very good.  they were crispy on the outside and soft and doughy in the middle.  yuck!

finally, my wife got iced tea from the self-serve beverage center and she kept finding little bugs in her cup.  something like fruit flies or something.

all in all, we were very disappointed.  the pizza wasn't horrible, despite all of my complaints about it, but it was way, way, way overpriced and completely lacking in toppings.  if this is an example of "new york style" pizza, they can keep it.

i don't just like, i love it!. my husband and i have traveled all over looking for great new york style pizza.papaangelo's has it! pizza cooked to perfection! my only complaint is there is one woman that works here that is a big b! but everyone else is great!

won't deliver unless your a home owner.. just moved to the area. i was told to check outpapaangelo's. first time i called "we don't deliver to apartments"! as if i am a second class citizen. i am in a very nice remodeled apartment and found it very offensive. i am also not second class, i am a working middle class veteran of the military. if i am not worth your business, your not worth my time, money, and patronage. this place is not worth your time or business.

absolutely the best. i drive 20 minutes just to get their pizza. it's absolutely the best in okc. i'm disappointed every time i go somewhere else. it's just not worth it to eat pizza unless your getting it frompapaangelo's!

closest to ny pizza in oklahoma. this is the closest that you can get to ny pizza in oklahoma. it is very good pizza, and they use quality cheese. some oklahomans may not like it because they have never had ny style pizza (sorry, pizza hut, dominos andpapajohns don't count). the restaurant is run by a family from ny. the lunch special is also a great value at $4 for 2 slices and a drink.

great stuff. we have only recently foundpapaangelo's while browsing around the streets of bethany. we love the location, in a quiet old fashioned area that is reminesent of an older time when it was safe to walk around in a downtown area. bethany maintains that feature! the pizza's are magnificent. large and well filled with appropriate toppings per capita. (lol) the staff seem to be family ( i assume) and are always friendly and promt for service. also had, on one occasion, the spaghetti and it was also very good. i was disappointed only once, when i ordered the eggplant parmesean and it was not available, but that can be overlooked once or twice. i highly recommend tryingpapaangelo's for great pizza.

really good pizza. i love getting to bethany and stopping in atpapaangelo's. this is the kind of place i think about & crave! if this isn't the best pizza in the area i don't know where it would be!

the lunch deal gets you two slices and a drink for $4.00, leaving enough in our college food budgets for coffee afterward. although i've never had them deliver (right across the street, remember?), i've seen thepapaangelo's van just about everywhere in the city. their three locations are making it even more convenient to get good, cheap, comfort food pizza.

good, but not great. after hearing rave reviews forpapaangelo's, i went in for lunch expecting it to be the best pizza i've ever had in okc.
unfortunately, it wasn't. the cheese pizza was pretty good, not outstanding though. the supreme was ok, but the veggies were not cooked. kinda weird.
the atmosphere is great though and my kids love the old school arcade games.
i would return but i won't say it's the best pizza in town.
