original pancake house in montgomery is one of my favorite breakfast destinations. in contrast to the corporate ihop chain, original pancake house has a full menu of great pancakes, crepes and other tasty breakfast treats that's as creative as it is diverse, rather than simply a collection of calories, sugars and fats piled together. you'll find no "happy face" pancakes in the house.

my favorites are the danish kijafa cherry crepes and the dutch baby, along with original pancake house's thickly cut bacon and some freshly squeezed oj. the coffee's great too. there's usually a line at breakfast time, but it moves quickly and thewaitis well worth the time.

original pancake house in west chester has the same menu as the montgomery location, but i find service at the latter especially friendly.

disappointed. i will start by saying this place has excellent food, but part of the dining experience is also customer service. the day i went in i called ahead to be placed on thewaitlist and was quoted 45 minutes. when i came in 45 minutes later i informed the woman at the front desk who stated she could seat us when she could. we got in line and ended up waiting another 30 minutes, the amount of time i would've waited if i hadn't called ahead. when i my two friends and i got to the front of the line we asked what was the purpose of the call aheadwaitlist, and got an answer that was completely illogical.
so we finally got seated a blonde woman came over, took our drink order, not introducing herself. we finally got our order in and everything seemed to be going smoothly. until we realized our waitress never came back to give us coffee. so we waited. fifteen minutes later we flagged down another waitress with a coffee pot. then five minutes after that our waitress came out with coffee. i watched as people seated after us, in our waitress's section, received their food. when our food finally came out we were missing items, at which point our waitress looks around the table and asks us what is missing before checking her notes. then she disappeared again. and i mean disappeared. we rarely saw her. it was to the point where the table next to us was ready for their check and decided to get up and go find her. a busser came around and we asked him to send our waitress. when he asked who she was we could not answer because she never introduced herself to us.
at the end of this horrible service we still had to pay a pricey breakfast bill for piss poor service. and leave a tip because i've been a waitress before and i understand this is their main source of income. and i understand being a busy waitress, and i've never given or received such horrible service. i will not be going back here ever. such a shame though, it was good food.

the girlfriend and i tried this place for the first time on a sunday morning. we're not from the area do we didn't know what to expect. the place was packed. we took it as a sign that the food was good. thewaitwas tough, but was well worth it. the good was fantastic, and our waiter did a great job. i highly suggest getting a hot chocolate. it was some of the best i've had. the strawberry pancakes were very fresh and delicious as well. we had a great experience. just expect towaitfor it.

outstanding! best breakfast in twin cities. i had the special chipolte chicken crepe and it was fantastic. very busy place, thewaitis worth it. service is exceptional. some crazy woman complained to the host station "did you forget about me, i have been here 20 minutes!" everyone in the lobby wanted to slap her silly, but the hostesses was calm and professional. 5 star place top to bottom.

a staple.... breakfast place in edina, the oph brings some awesome tasting pancakes & other breakfast foods into the happy stomachs of those that decide towaitaround.

yes, even calling ahead we still had towaitabout 10 minutes to get seated. if you go here around the normal breakfast time, as others have said, prepare to wait.

once you get beyond that the oph serves up some wonderful breakfast foods, with their specialty being and large assortment of pancakes. i tried their plan pancakes, which might be the best i have had. fluffy? check. flavorful? check. light? yes. just a solid pancake. the hash browns were "ok", i have had better and worse. blueberry muffin was really good though, with plenty of blueberries throughout the delectible delight.

there is a reason it is currently the #48 restaurant on urbanspoon...because it's dang good! you want a good breakfast, give the oph a try.

an old midwestern favorite. it was good to see an old fav here in falls church. it was good and a surprise, too : )
i was disappointed in the seating, though..the floors are hard and it isn't as comfortable as the restaurants with the same name where i came from! people seated too close and chairs aren't comfortable..too bad for them! the food was good, as expected. the service was slow when we had an accident at the table, we were ignored for a while, even though we were seated within 5 steps from the hostess stand and there were two hostesses and we were seated to the side of them, not their back! our waitress was pretty frustrated by that.waitpeople seem to not work together so well!

almost everything made from scratch.waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. i had pigs in a blanket. they were nicely presented and the pancakes were soft and had a good texture. it also came with a dollop of orange marmalade on the side and real butter. signature dishes are the crepes, apple pancake, dutch baby and the gluten free pancakes. they had a large eating area that i would not call cozy but clean and efficient. they had a senior menu that i should have asked for. i prefer this restaurant over ihop because of the individual preparation of each item on site. i will come back when i am interested in having pancake.

loooooooong wait:great food. we needed a table for 5 plus a high chair for a toddler. while they were filling tables for 2 quickly, even though we called ahead to be on thewaitlist, we had towait1 1/4 hour for a table! that's tough with a toddler in tow. was the food worth waiting for? well.....yes. everything was more than delicious, freshly made with the best ingredients. but, they really need to get a better method of seating groups larger than 2. we met friends there. none of us had been there before and none of us want to go on a weekend again. we would definitely go back during the week, although we're not retired and it would be hard. best option for pancakes!. this place is fantastic if you're in the mood for some flap jacks. i was excited to find out about this place on here and to see they made sourdough pancakes, just like they made in the old days. it's hard to find those around here. i liked all the options listed online, but unfortunately the coconut pancakes are not offered here, which is a real bummer since they sounded amazing. my wife got the hawaiian pancakes (crushed pineapple w/ tropical syrup, which was largely made of tangerine juice concentrate) and i had the sourdough w/ the regular syrup. i'm normally a goetta and eggs with potatoes and dry toast kinda guy (b/c most breakfast meats are too fattening and gristly for my taste) but the wafting smell of breakfast in this place made me decide to order something on the side for a change - 4 sausage links and an over medium egg. the egg was covered in oil, but cooked well. slightly rubbery, but forgivable. the links were sausage links. i don't know why i ordered them since i don't like them. they were greasy as expected and fine, but holy overinflated prices, batman. $1.50 for one egg and $3.50 for 4 sausage links?!?!?! what the hell is that? i can get a dozen eggs and a pound of sausage for that. two eggs were $2.50. wtf, oph? at least i won't order that again. the point being the side item traditional breakfast fare is not that great and overpriced. the decaf coffee was oily and slightly bitter, but ok for one cup or less. anymore and i'd probably get sick.

now that that's out of the way, back to the cakes. for $7 i got 8 sourdough pancakes. that's a much better deal i think. my wife got 5 or 6 (hers were thicker). it's clear the emphasis here is the pancakes, and with so many great options why choose anything else. her hawaiian pancakes were sweet and full of citrus flavor from the tropical syrup. a good combination. mine were sow-er! very sour and hands down some of the absolute best pancakes i have ever had in my life. the syrup had a good maple taste, but could have been stronger for me, but i really liked that it was thinner. most syrup is to thick and full of sugar. theirs is sweet and thinner (be careful - it will run as you pour it), which is great b/c it will actually absorb into the pancakes instead of just sitting on top of them. i had enough pancakes to take half home. it took the girl about 10-15 minutes to come back with a box (i started to wonder if they were making a box from scratch) but she was nice and the rest of the service was fine. thewaitwasn't bad at 1:30 on a saturday, but i bet it's hell in the mornings. either way, i'll make the half hour drive and go back again. probably in a few weeks.
