originalpancakehouse in montgomery is one of my favorite breakfast destinations. in contrast to the corporate ihop chain, originalpancakehouse has a full menu of great pancakes, crepes and other tasty breakfast treats that's as creative as it is diverse, rather than simply a collection of calories, sugars and fats piled together. you'll find no "happy face" pancakes in the house.

my favorites are the danish kijafa cherry crepes and the dutch baby, along with originalpancakehouse's thickly cut bacon and some freshly squeezed oj. the coffee's great too. there's usually a line at breakfast time, but it moves quickly and the wait is well worth the time.

originalpancakehouse in west chester has the same menu as the montgomery location, but i find service at the latter especially friendly.

consistent excellence

after eating at an originalpancakehouse in illinois we rerouted our trip to come here. we weren't disappointed. they consistently have the best blueberry pancakes in the country. we also tried the strawberry blitz crapes and the nutella crapes and they were excellent. if i am in the area or even close to an area with an originalpancakehouse we are stopping.

applepancakeis a must have. went there for the first time today and i must say i'm not much of apancakefan due to the vast amount of dough that tends to sit in your stomach all day. however, the applepancakeis just awesome. this is a single hugepancakewith apples and a thin cinnamon syrup all over it. i could not finish the whole thing and that's a rare thing for me at lunch. do yourself a favor and check this place out.

super delicious food, fast and friendly service, and it's all breakfast, yummmmmmm! i'm normally not apancakegirl, but i tried the savory bacon pancakes and enjoyed every last bite! omelette souffles are also nice, as are the crepes. cannot wait to go here again!

great food, busy. met some friends here for breakfast last saturday morning. when we finally got in and did eat (to be fair, we were a large group) the food was amazing. i had the potato pancakes and they were thin, crispy, flavorful. kids had crepes. son had classic hash browns, thick cut bacon, eggs. honestly, everyone loved their food. (coffee was so-so, very typicalpancakehouse coffee.) but, oi, the wait...

best breakfast i've had in some time. grade: b

it had been years since we ate at originalpancakehouse and decided to try it again this morning. best idea of the day.

the cherry kijafa crêpes were huge, filled with cherries and covered in a delicious cherry sauce. the real whipped cream really made the dish.

i didn't feel like pancakes, and instead ordered the works (2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon and hash brown) but substituted toast for the 3 buttermilk pancakes that normally come with the order. the scrambled eggs were fluffy, the hash browns crispy. their thick cut bacon was a nice change from the normal greasy, thin strips in most restaurants. but the bread that was used for the toast - thick, white bread that tasted freshly baked - was really a surprise.

this is now a solid option for weekend breakfasts for us.

love the dutch baby!. we try to eat at the originalpancakehouse at least once a month. one day i decided to try the dutch baby. what a great surprise! i ate it without the lemon and it was good, but when i used the lemon, it was great! i loved the texture and the taste. if you are tired of eating "the usual," then try the dutch baby!

not bad. i like originalpancakehouse better than ihop or perkins, though for weekend brunch the lines are rediculous and the food is a little pricey.

yummers!. on our last day in the cities we were looking for breakfast past noon. our hotel recommened originalpancakehouse in edina. we're sure glad they did.... we walked in about 10 minutes before closing (3pm) and it was no big deal to any of the staff, we swore we wouldn't dawdle ;-)

the food was so good.... i'm fussy about pancakes, too many places don't cook them through. but oph? they know how to cook apancake:-) and everything else.

we well definately return next time we're in town

good omelette, bad buckwheats. i had my first meal at oph yesterday while visiting family in centreville. they raved about the number ofpancakeand crepe choices at oph. i was in the mood for a western omelette, so that's what i ordered. i also wanted to try the buckwheat pancakes. our server gladly substituted buckwheat pancakes for the buttermilk pancakes that usually come with an omelette. i enjoyed the western omelette. it had the right amount of onions, bell peppers, and ham, and it came to my table piping hot. the buckwheats were edible, but i could barely taste the buckwheat flavor. i am not sure why, but it was not there. i am willing to give oph another try, but i won't get their buckwheat pancakes again.

would never suspect that this, indeed, a franchise. am i a food snob? perhaps. i would rather lick my vomit at 3am than dine at chains like applebees or mcdonalds. quickly, chic cincy hot spots like beluga and aqua proved tired, overrated. after all, while atmospherics are important, we are there to eat. after dismissing the rumours of montgomery's little breakfast mecca, i was tasked with uncovering a yummy breakfast north of cincinnati. omg! the originalpancakehouse wowed us with oven baked omelets... the baby you always imagined a burrito and quiche would produce after a drunken night of lovemaking. upgrade your side of pancakes to buckwheat and you will leave guilt free and smiling. as for the service, it was the first time in years that i left around 30-40% tip. our waitress balanced friendly/helpful/attentive. when we needed her, she seemed to appear. she served us without trying to be our best friend and make plans later (i.e. not overbearing). the crazy thing is you would never suspect from the food quality or general experience that this is, indeed, a franchise sprung out of portland. kudos.
