original pancake house

just great. theirfoodis very unique. i even had one dish that they lit on fire. it was spectacular. their pancakes are huge and very tasty. their toppings are not just out of a can but fresh and plentiful. i cant wait to go back.

no idea why people like this place.. first time there. horrible experience as a whole. i ordered pancakes, an omlet, toast and home fries. i only ever got the omlet and homefries. the omlets are ovbiously made in some kind of machine. they are round and look like a cow pattie (taste like it also). the omlet didn't even have the ingredients i ordered. the home fries were ok. can't speak for the pancakes becaue i never got them. although, i did pay for them. it took forever to getfoodand the lady at the front desk ovbiously was not too thrilled about her cashier job and was not in a hurry to do anything and didn't even talk loud enough for anyone to hear her (i'm 21 years old my hearing is great). the place was packed for some unknown reason... it was definatly not because of their omlets that arent even yellow... they are brown and literally are big and round and look like a cow pattie. i thought it was my pancakes at first. horrible experience overall, i wouldn't recommend it to someone i did not like.

i couldn't comment on thefoodbecause we never made it to a table. after calling in and being told it would be 30 minutes we were then quoted 30 minutes on arrival. after waiting for about 25 we were told it would be another 15 minutes. after an hour or so we were told that it would were told it would still be a bit and that the times are just estimates. my children were starving so we just left. i will never come back when visiting cincinnati.

bad service. i keep going back because the pancakes are so good but, as usual the service is slow and a little bit rude. the hostess is unfriendly and you just can't seem to get a refill on coffee. come on guys, i'm trying to cut you a break and keep giving you my business. i keep hoping you might start to appreciate your customers. you are lucky thefoodis good!

disappointed. i will start by saying this place has excellent food, but part of the dining experience is also customer service. the day i went in i called ahead to be placed on the wait list and was quoted 45 minutes. when i came in 45 minutes later i informed the woman at the front desk who stated she could seat us when she could. we got in line and ended up waiting another 30 minutes, the amount of time i would've waited if i hadn't called ahead. when i my two friends and i got to the front of the line we asked what was the purpose of the call ahead wait list, and got an answer that was completely illogical.
so we finally got seated a blonde woman came over, took our drink order, not introducing herself. we finally got our order in and everything seemed to be going smoothly. until we realized our waitress never came back to give us coffee. so we waited. fifteen minutes later we flagged down another waitress with a coffee pot. then five minutes after that our waitress came out with coffee. i watched as people seated after us, in our waitress's section, received their food. when ourfoodfinally came out we were missing items, at which point our waitress looks around the table and asks us what is missing before checking her notes. then she disappeared again. and i mean disappeared. we rarely saw her. it was to the point where the table next to us was ready for their check and decided to get up and go find her. a busser came around and we asked him to send our waitress. when he asked who she was we could not answer because she never introduced herself to us.
at the end of this horrible service we still had to pay a pricey breakfast bill for piss poor service. and leave a tip because i've been a waitress before and i understand this is their main source of income. and i understand being a busy waitress, and i've never given or received such horrible service. i will not be going back here ever. such a shame though, it was good food.

the girlfriend and i tried this place for the first time on a sunday morning. we're not from the area do we didn't know what to expect. the place was packed. we took it as a sign that thefoodwas good. the wait was tough, but was well worth it. the good was fantastic, and our waiter did a great job. i highly suggest getting a hot chocolate. it was some of the best i've had. the strawberry pancakes were very fresh and delicious as well. we had a great experience. just expect to wait for it.

very impressed. crazy busy on a sunday morning! they do offer call ahead seating. great menu and very generous portions.foodwas excellent. service was very good considering how much she was running. excellent gluten free options for those with restrictions.

we hadn’t been since long before i went off gluten but i’d heard they have a gf menu and lo and behold, they do! the server recommended crepes rather than pancakes with the gf batter (made with pamela’s products) and she was right – delicious!

if we were going back, though, maybe we’ll skip a holiday and go for a regular weekend afternoon. it was packed in there, but the service was prompt, the coffee was hot, and my strawberry crepes were awesome.

all the gffoodcomes out on red plates rather than white. i appreciated that, and i’m sure those who are even more sensitive will, too.

first timer. i recently moved to minnesota and thanks to an amazing evening checking out downtown, i was in need of carbs.
customer service is obviously not a focal point. due to the reality of it not being bad customer service keeps this location from bad ratings.
i had gluten free french toast (enough crisp, not soggy), hash browns, they weren't kidding about their style(perfection!) the manager auctioned thefoodin the section and the server didn't ask how to prepare the bill.

thefoodis pretty good, and the place is always packed. i love that its the kind of place where you can sit back, relax, tease the waitress a bit and enjoy your breakfast companions.

an old midwestern favorite. it was good to see an old fav here in falls church. it was good and a surprise, too : )
i was disappointed in the seating, though..the floors are hard and it isn't as comfortable as the restaurants with the same name where i came from! people seated too close and chairs aren't comfortable..too bad for them! thefoodwas good, as expected. the service was slow when we had an accident at the table, we were ignored for a while, even though we were seated within 5 steps from the hostess stand and there were two hostesses and we were seated to the side of them, not their back! our waitress was pretty frustrated by that. wait people seem to not work together so well!

not all oph's are equal. as a longstanding customer of the oph in eden prairie, i have to mention that the reception staff at the oph in edina are lagging far behind in the friendly department. we waited, like others, for a loooong time and thefoodwas good, however, unfriendly and downright curt reception staff + tight lobby space/fire hazard when full sealed my opinion of this location. go the extra few miles if you want a great meal and enjoy being treated like a person instead of a cow in the line up.

great food, busy. met some friends here for breakfast last saturday morning. when we finally got in and did eat (to be fair, we were a large group) thefoodwas amazing. i had the potato pancakes and they were thin, crispy, flavorful. kids had crepes. son had classic hash browns, thick cut bacon, eggs. honestly, everyone loved their food. (coffee was so-so, very typical pancake house coffee.) but, oi, the wait...

yummmm. i came here with my dad who was visiting to the cities and wanted to go to a great breakfast joint. i read the reviews and decided to come here. it was a sunday morning around 1000, very busy, but since there were 2 of us we were able to get in 10 minutes right by the kitchen. which was fine by me! the service was great, the waitress was very friendly. gave us time to review the menu, but always came by in time. thefoodwas great, and you get what you pay for! omelettes are huge, and with most entrees you get 3 pancakes. bottomless coffee! will come back, but probably not with a big group of people or not during peak hours!

loooooooong wait:great food. we needed a table for 5 plus a high chair for a toddler. while they were filling tables for 2 quickly, even though we called ahead to be on the wait list, we had to wait 1 1/4 hour for a table! that's tough with a toddler in tow. was thefoodworth waiting for? well.....yes. everything was more than delicious, freshly made with the best ingredients. but, they really need to get a better method of seating groups larger than 2. we met friends there. none of us had been there before and none of us want to go on a weekend again. we would definitely go back during the week, although we're not retired and it would be hard. (edina location)
