a staple.... breakfast place in edina, the oph brings some awesome tasting pancakes & other breakfast foods into the happy stomachs of those that decide to wait around.

yes, even calling ahead we still had to wait about 10 minutes to get seated. if you go here around the normal breakfast time, as others have said, prepare to wait.

once you get beyond that the oph serves up some wonderful breakfast foods, with their specialty being and large assortment of pancakes. i tried their plan pancakes, which might be the best i have had. fluffy? check. flavorful? check. light? yes. just a solid pancake. the hash browns were "ok", i have had better and worse. blueberry muffin was really good though, with plenty of blueberries throughout the delectible delight.

there is a reason it is currently the #48 restaurant on urbanspoon...because it's dang good! you want a good breakfast, give the oph a try.

not an ihop at all. my new favorite place for breakfast! i have been a few times and sampled the banana pancakes, eggs & bacon, and the apple waffle. mmmmmmm all terrific. the syrups they serve are great (they have a hawaiian syrup that is awesome. be sure to order a side of bacon- it's the best ever. definitely eat here!

an old midwestern favorite. it was good to see an old fav here in falls church. it was good and a surprise, too : )
i was disappointed in the seating, though..the floors are hard and it isn't as comfortable as the restaurants with the same name where i came from! people seated too close and chairs aren't comfortable..too bad for them! the food was good, as expected. the service was slow when we had an accident at the table, we were ignored for a while, even though we were seated within 5 steps from the hostess stand and there were two hostesses and we were seated to the side of them, not their back! our waitress was pretty frustrated by that. wait people seem to not work together so well!

not all oph's are equal. as a longstanding customer of the oph in eden prairie, i have to mention that the reception staff at the oph in edina are lagging far behind in the friendly department. we waited, like others, for a loooong time and the food was good, however, unfriendly and downright curt reception staff + tight lobby space/fire hazard when full sealed my opinion of this location. go the extra few miles if you want a great meal and enjoy being treated like a person instead of a cow in the line up.

be prepared to wait... but once you get seated, be prepared for goodness! i started with hot chocolate which was like a dessert. then the main course of pecan pancakes arrived. deliciousness abounded. made the wait worthwhile. go forth and make the trip!

super delicious food, fast and friendly service, and it's all breakfast, yummmmmmm! i'm normally not a pancake girl, but i tried the savory bacon pancakes and enjoyed every last bite! omelette souffles are also nice, as are the crepes. cannot wait to go here again!

great food, busy. met some friends here for breakfast last saturday morning. when we finally got in and did eat (to be fair, we were a large group) the food was amazing. i had the potato pancakes and they were thin, crispy, flavorful. kids had crepes. son had classic hash browns, thick cut bacon, eggs. honestly, everyone loved their food. (coffee was so-so, very typical pancake house coffee.) but, oi, the wait...

best french toast. i love b'fast. i am a regular across the city. if you love french toast, oph has the best, and they are consistently great. they never let flavors on their grill mix (which is huge problem at a low end place like perkins and many other places that don't take the care that oph in using does in cooking something like eggs, keeping it separate from the bacon or the hashbrowns.) choose either the cinnamon or the sour dough both are great. the only other true contender is the good day in golden valley and their huckleberry brioche, thre the quality can vary a bit...

yummmm. i came here with my dad who was visiting to the cities and wanted to go to a great breakfast joint. i read the reviews and decided to come here. it was a sunday morning around 1000, very busy, but since there were 2 of us we were able to get in 10 minutes right by the kitchen. which was fine by me! the service was great, the waitress was very friendly. gave us time to review the menu, but always came by in time. the food was great, and you get what you pay for! omelettes are huge, and with most entrees you get 3 pancakes. bottomless coffee! will come back, but probably not with a big group of people or not during peak hours!

almost everything made from scratch. wait staff was very friendly and helpful. i had pigs in a blanket. they were nicely presented and the pancakes were soft and had a good texture. it also came with a dollop of orange marmalade on the side and real butter. signature dishes are the crepes, apple pancake, dutch baby and the gluten free pancakes. they had a large eating area that i would not call cozy but clean and efficient. they had a senior menu that i should have asked for. i prefer this restaurant over ihop because of the individual preparation of each item on site. i will come back when i am interested in having pancake.

best breakfast i've had in some time. grade: b

it had been years since we ate at original pancake house and decided to try it again this morning. best idea of the day.

the cherry kijafa crêpes were huge, filled with cherries and covered in a delicious cherry sauce. the real whipped cream really made the dish.

i didn't feel like pancakes, and instead ordered the works (2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon and hash brown) but substituted toast for the 3 buttermilk pancakes that normally come with the order. the scrambled eggs were fluffy, the hash browns crispy. their thick cut bacon was a nice change from the normal greasy, thin strips in most restaurants. but the bread that was used for the toast - thick, white bread that tasted freshly baked - was really a surprise.

this is now a solid option for weekend breakfasts for us.

loooooooong wait:great food. we needed a table for 5 plus a high chair for a toddler. while they were filling tables for 2 quickly, even though we called ahead to be on the wait list, we had to wait 1 1/4 hour for a table! that's tough with a toddler in tow. was the food worth waiting for? well.....yes. everything was more than delicious, freshly made with the best ingredients. but, they really need to get a better method of seating groups larger than 2. we met friends there. none of us had been there before and none of us want to go on a weekend again. we would definitely go back during the week, although we're not retired and it would be hard. (edina location)

so how original are they? the first restaurant dates back to 1953 in portland, or. there they started with recipes collected by the owners from around the world visits and started franchising nationwide shortly thereafter.

our favorite breakfast place, hands down. we love oph and go there regularly. the staff remember you and what you order - it's like an a.m. version of cheers:)

after trying many things over the years, we now order a creation of our own from two different items on their menu: buckwheat pancakes with strawberries, strawberry syrup and real whipped cream. you have to try it. the buckwheat is good for you and it tastes so amazing. keeps you going all day long!

note, i'm a fan of omelettes and egg scrambles and such, but i don't care for the oph egg dishes. stick with the pancakes, waffles, french toast, etc. (or the lunch items if you come in during the week).
