ombu kusina

we had laing, flaming chicken, crispy tadyang, bagnet dinuguan, gising-gising and binagoongang talong. my personal favorites were the binagoongang talong (it was sweet and tasty! 😍), flaming chicken (the meat was tender and the combination of the vegetables and sauce was delicious!) and the crispy tadyang (it may not look like tadyang but it is delicious! perfect with vinegar! ❤️

the experience with flaming chicken was cool too!

it is 4-star worthy because the staff’s service was excellent. they were very accommodating and mindful.

we ordered kare kare, maya maya sisig and garlic ricee. serving size is quite big. the kare-kare was good but i would prefer if they didn't skimp in adding more sauce to it. the sisig was interestingly good. will definitely come back here.

was craving for some arroz caldo and their version didn’t disappoint! very very sulit. we also ordered their namesake deep-fried chicken—however for this one, i wasn’t as big a fan. i like my fried chicken really fried to the bones without any blood remnants. i guess they can improve on this. well, i’m still curious to try their other dishes!

we had our dinner here with the kids after the school, its been years since we had dine here. we ordered adobochon, inihaw na pusit, flaming chicken, baked prawn, sinigang na hipon, salad etc well food tasted good. service was great. plus its included in zomato gold so. we had great value on our food.

overall, the food was good some were a bit salty like the falming chicken but absolutely loved the laing. their vinagoongan rice had a strong flavor and their liempo was a bit charred but i liked the slight peppery taste of the lechon adobo and the mean of their kare kare. some of the viands have small portions like the kare kare but we were surprised with the big servings of rice.

service is good we just waited a while for the food. loved the place, very instagramable

good food and nice place.... easy parking outside and inside hotel.... we availed zomato gold promo..... kids like the ombu fried chicken and sisig.... adobochon good and nice plating..... pinakbet seafood laing good also..... we videoed the flaming chicken..... too bad zomato does not allow video posting...... will be back to try their pizza and crispy pata

delicious food. clean and nice ambiance. courteous staff. we ordered their vegetable kare kare and chicken bbq. will definitely come back to try their other food items.

(mukhang matigas pero pag tinikman sobrang lambot at masarap! 11/10!!! must try!)

(ordinary garlic rice but big serving! classic)

sisig pizza 7/10
(nothings special, ordinary pan pizza topped with sisig - dissapointed considering one of the best sellers)

(cake with a twist, mapapa extra order ka nito. must try!)

20-30 minutes waiting time but be prepared to wait for 10-15 minutes more especially during peak hours. it was jammed when we got here and we ordered 4 different items (rice jot included). the first two orders (and rice) came in within 20 minutes and since we were all hungry, we jumped right in. ate like 10-15 minutes and we enjoyed it. we were hoping well get the last 2 items after the first 30 minutes but it was not finished yet. timed it (yes i logged the time on my phone) and they came in around the 45 minute mark (first wait plus eating time) kinda disappointed on how the grilled squid came out (last item) it wasn't even hot anymore.

good food overall (quality and taste) but taking out 2 stars for the wait. i know it was full and 20-30 min wait was reasonable but not 45 min (batches of people even left while we were waiting).

08/25/2019 visit:

we were supposed to check out caerus cafe at scout torillo but somehow we ended up at ombu kusina.

this time it's dinner and we were able to try their non-buffet course. we had the flaming chicken, pork sisig and bagoong rice. for dessert, we tried the frozen brazo.

my overall rating, from 3, i raised it to 4/5. we'll probably go back to try other courses.

i had a quick buffet at ombu kusina but sadly the options are not plenty. there's only 2 main viands that morning - bangus stew and longaniza. they have a separate table that cooks omelette though. overall, the experience was just so-so. the morning buffet costs 350 pesos (almost 400 with service charge) which i think is much for that less variety.

i have yet to try dining there at lunch and at a non-buffet set-up.

i was curious about this restaurant because of its high rating. the high rating is definitely well-deserved.

we ordered adobochon, sinigang na salmon sa miso and pinakbet. each dish was delicious. my favorite is the adobochon, as the skin was crispy and the meat tasty. the pinakbet was surprisingly good. being ilocano, i have my personal preference on how pinakbet should be cooked. their version did not disappoint.

the service was excellent as well. jhoerel was especially attentive and polite, and so was margie. it's always a delight to be served by wait staff whose love for their work shine through.

will definitely be back soon to try their other dishes.

ate at ombu kusina with the family. the place is very suitable for families, dates. i love how they kept the interior clean amd spacious for everyone to seat. their staff were very accomodating and they were always on the lookout for customers needing service. we had such a great time since the staff were so friendly and pro when it comes to taking pictures, they know which angle to look for, lettins some of our family if they were in the shot or not. going to the food, we ordered nachos for appetizer, for the main dishes, we had adobochon, salmon sa miso, flaming chicken, bagoong rice, and salad. for desserts, we had the frozen brazo de mercedes. the food was lovely. all of the family members liked it, took photos, and posted them on ig. they will definitely recommend it to their friends. i personally loved the adobochon and flaming chicken. such a unique experience having a different kind of dishes from the other top or high end restaurants. the frozen brazo de mercedes was such a delight. the balance of the egg yolk, whipped cream, and to my surprise, a graham base. it just fits all together. its not your usual brazo de mercedes you buy at some restaurants. they definitely took the dessert to the next level. overall, i loved eating at ombu kusina. will definitely eat there again with friends next time.

celebrated my girl's birthday lunch today. we chose ombu because of the good reviews and the extensive menu since my family are picky eaters
the place is bright but cozy. staff were very attentive and helpful.
ordered sinigang na salmon, binakol, salads, beek karekare, flaming chicken, dinuguan, angus beefsteak, laing, gisinggising.
we enjoyed the food. it was not salty which i like but the food is still very tasty.
it is the only restaurant i've been where they serve you an extra bowl of piping hot soup when you order a soup dish.
the angus beefsteak was a revelation..it was sooo tender to the bite and the bistek sauce was perfectly seasoned.
another revelation is the sans rival...it's a big slice with perfect chewy meringue layers and just the right amount of buttercream and nuts..hindi nakakaumay.
the prices are reasonable and everybody enjoyed the food and service. will definitely be back...soon.
