ombu kusina

the food was quite average. the ombu chicken was ok but not impressive. the lechon kare kare and the veggie pizza are also ok, but not impressive. i had a lot of expectations before coming to this restaurant of it 4.3 rating, but i was quite disappointed. the staff members are generally not very attentive, and theplaceis relatively small.

we had a quick dinner at ombu and really enjoyed the tinapa croquettes, seafood mix laing & sinigang na baboy. theplacehad a lovely atmosphere. the service was second to none. bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

terrible experience
we went during mother's day and we felt ombu kusina accommodated more customers than they could handle. they poorly prepared for the event and probably did not anticipate the huge influx of diners. overall, we had a terrible experience.

ambiance
theplacelooked lovely but they cannot seat us within the restaurant premises even if i reserved in advance. instead, they seated us in a bland function room in the hotel's second floor. so much for ambiance.

but hey, who cares? as long as food is great i can tolerate it. unfortunately, things just got way worse from there.

food
our appetizer arrived 45 minutes after ordering:
1. crunchy garlic crablets - we liked this but i guess we were just too hungry from following up and waiting. it was half past noon at this point.

main dishes arrived one after the other in ten minute intervals:
2. grilled squid - burnt, rubbery, and not warm. skip this unless you like chewing car tires.
3. thrice-cooked crispy pata - dry and average. for php720, this was too overpriced for being an unremarkable dish. skip it, you won't miss anything.
4. seafood mix laing - disastrous. whatever was in this, it was served cold. we barely ate this since it tasted nothing like laing. stay away from this dish.

service
they were too overwhelmed and underprepared. although, i would like to commend the manager in charge (geri) who kept her composure despite this hot mess.

after our meal, we went to the burger joint across the street. it was a delight after our horrific experience in ombu kusina.

great food, great service and overall a great experience! if you're looking for good quality filipino food, ombu kusina is surely theplaceto go 💞

thisplaceis a gem! great food, great ambiance, great service, amazing staff! the manager, ms. geri, was so nice and warm. all the staff greets you with a smile. their food is also amazing! try their flaming chicken! loved their desserts as well - frozen brazo, mango panna cotta, strawberry panna cotta. will definitely go back to eat here 😊

note: everyone, including the staff of sequoia hotel, were so nice and accommodating except for the front security guard. if it were not for how ms. geri greeted us, we wouldn't have pushed through eating here. he was so rude and arrogant! you might want to re-train that guard how to treat customers because there's a possibility people wouldn't want to eat there anymore because of him 😡

service - there are no attendant at the front door but all the staffs are approachable and polite.
place - theplaceis clean and neat but i wish they could lower the temperature of the ac since it is noon time.
food - the waiting time is just around 10 minutes.
• sisig pizza (php 520) - this offers a very unique taste for a pizza. ireally liked it when paired with their white sauce. 4.5/5
• thrice cooked crispy pata - the meat is soooo tender!! this is perfection 5/5
• flaming chicken - the presentation is a must see!! and i liked the sweet and savory taste of chicken that reminds me of that classic chicken bbq 4.5/5
• salmon sinigang sa miso - this is perfect!! the sinigang soup has this balanced sourness that is addicting. and!! they serve additional sinigang soup. 5/5

overall, this is a goodplacefor family lunch out. i really loved their food —great quality and the location is very accessible. will definitely dine again!

we had a great time at our visit to ombu kusina. theplacewas almost empty and we were served quickly. we ordered beef kare-kare, gising-gising, flaming chicken, and sisig pizza. the kare-kare looked so nice that we started eating as soon as it was served— we didn’t even get to take a picture. the kare-kare was my favorite but we literally had to look for the beef because there wasn’t much. the gising-gising was also really good that it made me eat vegetables, it was a hit with my dad. the creamy tres leches halo-halo was a great ending to the sumptuous meal. will be sure to visit again to try the other things on the menu!

i find it so fascinating how our own filipino cuisine evolved throughout the years. we've seen and tasted several new and innovative interpretation on classic dishes. and though our grandparents' recipes have a specialplacein our hearts (and tummies), the modern take on adobo, lechon and so on deserve applause. and speaking of modern filipino restaurants, one of my new favorites is ombu kusina.

ate here for my lola’s birthday and theplacedid not disappoint. it was already sulit for the price and serving but using our gold made it even more sulit. we got sisig pizza, squid, adobochon, flaming chicken, bagoong rice, and dilis rice. my favorite out of those was the squid. we also got beignets for dessert which honestly was the best one i’ve tried yet. (probably what pushed me to leave a review) service was great too but needs more coordination. overall, would go back again.

the food is so amazingly delicious! and theplaceis nice and comfotable. perfect for a good dine out with family or a date, cause you wont be embarassed with the food.

we ordered all meat pizza and flaming chicken (literally flamed!). the all meat pizza is a thin crust pizza and filled with sausages and chorizo. it comes with sour cream/mayo. its is good. the flaming chicken is kinda sweet and savory the same time.

ate at ombu kusina with the family. theplaceis very suitable for families, dates. i love how they kept the interior clean amd spacious for everyone to seat. their staff were very accomodating and they were always on the lookout for customers needing service. we had such a great time since the staff were so friendly and pro when it comes to taking pictures, they know which angle to look for, lettins some of our family if they were in the shot or not. going to the food, we ordered nachos for appetizer, for the main dishes, we had adobochon, salmon sa miso, flaming chicken, bagoong rice, and salad. for desserts, we had the frozen brazo de mercedes. the food was lovely. all of the family members liked it, took photos, and posted them on ig. they will definitely recommend it to their friends. i personally loved the adobochon and flaming chicken. such a unique experience having a different kind of dishes from the other top or high end restaurants. the frozen brazo de mercedes was such a delight. the balance of the egg yolk, whipped cream, and to my surprise, a graham base. it just fits all together. its not your usual brazo de mercedes you buy at some restaurants. they definitely took the dessert to the next level. overall, i loved eating at ombu kusina. will definitely eat there again with friends next time.

celebrated my girl's birthday lunch today. we chose ombu because of the good reviews and the extensive menu since my family are picky eaters
theplaceis bright but cozy. staff were very attentive and helpful.
ordered sinigang na salmon, binakol, salads, beek karekare, flaming chicken, dinuguan, angus beefsteak, laing, gisinggising.
we enjoyed the food. it was not salty which i like but the food is still very tasty.
it is the only restaurant i've been where they serve you an extra bowl of piping hot soup when you order a soup dish.
the angus beefsteak was a revelation..it was sooo tender to the bite and the bistek sauce was perfectly seasoned.
another revelation is the sans rival...it's a big slice with perfect chewy meringue layers and just the right amount of buttercream and nuts..hindi nakakaumay.
the prices are reasonable and everybody enjoyed the food and service. will definitely be back...soon.

went here because i was too curious of the food quality served in sequoia hotel since i'm eyeing thisplacefor our wedding reception. and thisplacedidn't disappoint. its actually surprising that the price is really affordable given the quality of food they serve. and the service was amazing too! and because me and my sister used our zomato app, we were able to spend only p300 each for the flaming chicken, pork sisig, tres leches halo halo and frozen brazo. i must say, everything we ate are a must try dish!
